I don’t want to get controversial, but hear me out. For me personally, while I’m all in favor of solving climate-related issues, I’m skeptical when it comes to backing certain solutions. For example, wind and solar farms require a LOT of land to be cleared of vegetation (which is a natural CO2 absorber), and they’re made of a lot of non-recyclable materials. Plus, those windmills are powerful enough to kill eagles.

This is why I’m a strong supporter for the indoor farming industry. There’s this company called Freight Farms, and they build indoor farms inside shipping containers and then ship them across the world to impoverished communities. If that can be done on a big enough scale, the land usage for farms could decrease rapidly, allowing more land for forests. Maybe we can even use it to grow the palm trees used for palm oil domestically so that we wouldn’t have to rely on deforesters overseas. We could also grow our own coffee beans in a climate-controlled environment. Also, we could grow our own cacao beans to become less reliant on the HIGHLY exploitative cocoa-growing industry in Africa so that I can eat my chocolate with a clearer conscience.
I feel like extreme regulations can kill jobs.

There’s really no simple solution to climate change. While solar and wind power do help, they need to be in certain spots and have certain conditions to actually contribute negatively to the CO2. Such as putting a solar array in an old farmer’s field that doesn’t get use anymore.

If you’ve ever been in Living with the Land at Epcot, you‘ll know that indoor farming and hydroponics are extremely useful for creating zero-emission food.

Anyone here familiar with animal tracks and can tell me what kinda tracks these are? At first i thought badger because they are so big, but after looking them up at google it doesnt fit. Raccoon doesnt really match aswell.
Location is central germany

Oh really? The ones i looked up online always looked like little human hand prints, where these seem more cat or dog like but different and the hind paws are elongated.
The key telling point here is the five fingers. No other mammal in the area really has that. Also I think the ones near the bottom of the image are the hind paws but they’re not pressed down all the way so it’s harder to notice.

But thats nice to know that ive got a raccoon neigbour. I live besides a small largely vacant industrial area that i always use as a shortcut into town. This is where the tracks are.
And i always pass by this old rusty metal container thingy, where when its dark i could sometimes hear something scurrying around.
Always thought its the neigbours cats, but i guess a trashpanda took residence in there lol :D

You guys seen the LEGO Kingfisher set that’s coming out soon?

50$ too. For an 834 piece set. Just for reference that’s about half the price they’d normally do for that many parts. I’m definitely picking one up.
Honestly his one and the insect one really interest me. If I wasn’t tight on money, and currently have unstable housing, I would love to buy both.

(By unstable I don’t mean I’m in trouble, I just travel between living at home, to living at school. So I can’t move legos around much)

I also already collect Schlesinger figures so I don’t need a new money pit lmao.

Yeah looks really cool! Although i think the color choice its a bit odd, a brighter blue and probably orange aswell would have looked nice. Especially since its lego, which is usually on the bright and colorfull side.
Really hope they expand on this little animal display series

Yeah the insects are awesome aswell, but 80€ is a bit to hefty for me

Oh wow, that's so cool! My favorite bird species! I would feel tempted to buy it, but I shouldn't start a new hobby. And I know if I buy one set I won't stop there
