I don’t want to get controversial, but hear me out. For me personally, while I’m all in favor of solving climate-related issues, I’m skeptical when it comes to backing certain solutions. For example, wind and solar farms require a LOT of land to be cleared of vegetation (which is a natural CO2 absorber), and they’re made of a lot of non-recyclable materials. Plus, those windmills are powerful enough to kill eagles.
This is why I’m a strong supporter for the indoor farming industry. There’s this company called Freight Farms, and they build indoor farms inside shipping containers and then ship them across the world to impoverished communities. If that can be done on a big enough scale, the land usage for farms could decrease rapidly, allowing more land for forests. Maybe we can even use it to grow the palm trees used for palm oil domestically so that we wouldn’t have to rely on deforesters overseas. We could also grow our own coffee beans in a climate-controlled environment. Also, we could grow our own cacao beans to become less reliant on the HIGHLY exploitative cocoa-growing industry in Africa so that I can eat my chocolate with a clearer conscience.
