I'll assume that since the system it was in was actually visited, it therefore must be a place. OK. Got it. It's a place, or occupies a point in space.

Would a CMDR recognize it if they saw it ? As mentioned, what if it's a POI on a planet 3 million seconds from the entry point ? Or hidden in an asteroid belt ? SO many questions.

Aside from the notoriety of being the first to find it.. What do you get when you find it ? Does an all out war between all three human factions kick off ? With Thargs for good measure ? I have a hard time grasping what it would do in game mechanics, besides some super-swoofy FSD drive or other module.

Well if it is there, yet in the context of a video game and our entertainment scope, its so unlikely to find, then no.

I think real astonomy is like this too.. its so vast that many probable things are practically impossible because of the logistics.

Do frontier still want us to care? Or mind that some people do? Probably not.

EDIT: Oh yeah, has anyone actually read the dark wheel? Maybe there's some hint or metaphor for what they really mean by raxxla. I've been meaning to.. but its a book with words in it.. one of those things.

I always viewed this Michael Brooke's "yes it's in the game" thing a bit like comets ... which are also in the game ... from a certain point of view.

Alternatively, you could always subscribe to another idea I always quite liked ... Raxxla, a portal to another dimension, already in the game ... look no further than the "Exit game" menu option, perhaps that is Raxxla?

I guess no, but obviously it's impossible to be sure.

raxxla's purpose is to be something to search for.

everyone would be extremely disappointed if raxxla was ever found. At least if the creativity of how mysteries are found and implemented in the game are to be used as a basis.

So yes, it's in the game. And you should look for it. And you should hope against all hope that it's never found.

Well, as far as I remember, Michael Brookes said yes, and that they're not going to be giving any clues about it at all.
However, given the way the game currently functions, if you were to find it, you probably wouldn't be able to do anything with it other than just look at it and scan it.
If it's a planet with any type of atmosphere: no landing.
If there's anything supposed to be ON the planet: inaccessible.

The search for Raxxla should probably be a backburner project for now until Elite has more full fleshed out exploration mechanics and/or atmospheric landings.

It's like... I want to go to visit Cygnus X-1. I have the system bookmarked in my galaxy map, but if I went now, I'd only be disappointed because I already know what a black hole next to a star looks like in the game as it currently stands, and it's not impressive. I want to save that trip for when FD revamp black holes and give us stuff like accretion disks and hopefully interaction with the companion star.
