Well, I got 1,2 and 3 confirmed. We'll have to see what update 12 brings, August and November for the the Thargoids then? and Engineering, or C&P or powerplay (ha ha ha , I know) for early 2023?

I win!Full account transfers for my console bros.
I've speculated it is an issue of referential integrity. The way they originally setup identity management or something of the sort probably doesn't crossover well with more proprietary schemes on console. Somewhere, things are duplicated or 'like for like' mappings are fundamentally incompatible and that creates issues when you can't really reconcile.Frontier have said on a few occasions how 'difficult' it is (isn't it just tables in a database???), so they could well have been preparing us for a partial solution.
Even a simple buff to the credit rewards for CQC might encourage more people to play!On the positive, Glad that Elite Dangerous is continued development for the next year and I'm looking forward to the story stuff (Who else suspects that on-foot thargoids are coming in November). Glad that console owners got thrown the transfer bone.
However, I am disappointed that there is only one new mission type coming next update, I was hoping they were going to add more space stuff to the existing on-foot missions because those really work for me and one major system rework in 2023, probably engineering again. Personally I feel that C&P or even throw powerplay some love but that's wishful thinking.
Interesting that they said that they had taken feedback from everyone about CQC but that CQC wasn't on the list.
7/10

whilst i support your suggestion 100%, i personally cant stand waiting around in MP games so fleshing out with npcs is an utter no brainer for me (gears of war used to do it well)... and i see no harm in making bot only private matches if you prefer. (and still getting the same rank and credit progression because after all it really does not matter for the balance of the game... but it is just more fun having some progression.IMO the thing that may help CQC would be one single thing: the ability to play with/against npc, with various selectable ranks (from novice to elite) in the same installations used in the multiplayer game.
Simply for training purposes.
As it is now, you are put in a map that is completely new and paired with vets. And there is little to no chance at all of learning anything before getting exploded
And if you have the luck to run into some ruthless cqc-ers, like musketeer for example, you will not even seem them coming since they will use all their vet perks against everyone, including stealth.
So for a newb CQC is a perfect example of frustrating "what were they thinking?" type of gameplay that will drive away any new players and some of the older ones too.
but regarding musketeer....... i think you do him a disservice. his is just incredibly skilled at CQC.
yeah when you get that good at something there really does need to be a pro tier where like minded people go for the ultimate challenge. He his. He absolutely is incredibly skilled.
But he's also ruthless and absolutely no fun to play against him.
Back then, more than 20 years ago, i was about the same on our local UT server.
Up to the point the people were leaving the server when i was logging in.
So eventually i changed my name and started to die here and there lose a match here and there and so on.
Point is, i know very well how it looks to play iddqd god-mode compared to less skilled players and how much fun it is
You should have said, I could have been team coac… car driverKick Off 2 on the Amiga was the only game i ever truly excelled at. i would go months without losing, even considered putting myself forward to a KO2 world cup competition back in the day......... but i could not drive. (pre internet)
He is! I've been killed by him a few (haha!) times when playing. Essentially, if the matchmaker put him in the same game as me, I'd last a few seconds between respawns, against lesser players maybe a little longer.but regarding musketeer....... i think you do him a disservice. his is just incredibly skilled at CQC.
or powerplay (ha ha ha , I know)
How about a mode where you queue with one of your own ships? Outfit and engineer them however you want and play with them in a Battlegrounds-type PvP arena where deaths and ammo cost nothing because it's just a PvP battleground?Even a simple buff to the credit rewards for CQC might encourage more people to play!
Not sure about that.. I see some doomsters maybe a bit muted but still insisting that the game is dead.See, the stream exceeded my expectations while still being largely vague and non-commital. That's okay though, we can at least stop the "servers will be shutting down in months" doom for a week or two.
I see that as interesting but not an encouragement to play CQC. In fact I think it would raise the barrier to entry to a level that only those with a meta FDL would bother entering bar a few, swiftly discouraged, newbies in their eagles and vultures. How about a mode where you queue with one of your own ships? There won't be a barrier if there are no real rewards or penalties for playing the mode.I see that as interesting but not an encouragement to play CQC. What about a mode where you get to theory craft any ship prior to entry? Maybe subdivide into classes of similar ships and then add whatever weapons you like. Engineering allowed as a modifier.
All of this, of course, relies on participation to work and any mode would have to be built, which I think is wishful thinking when the priority is the main game right now.
