Spanish language localization promise not fullfilled yet

. What they should be doing is making sure they get all the localisations done that were originally promised, and if Spanish is on that list then there's certainly a case for applying pressure until it's delivered.

Not only Spanish was promised, but also Mexican Spanish (!)... Which is something I ve very rarely seen done in any game! Even with all their differences in vocabulary, "One" Spanish is usually enough for all the Spanish speaking population around the world to play games... Also note that Brazilian Portuguese in addition to Portuguese too (!).

Localisation has started; we will be initially releasing the following languages:
German, French, Russian, Polish, Dutch, Italian, Spanish, Mexican Spanish, Portuguese, Brazilian Portuguese, Swedish, Finnish, Norwegian and Simplified Chinese.

Three possible options:

1 - FDEV was really trying to go above and beyond the norm but has failed at freeing up the resources required to do it so far.
2 - FDEV was trying to "pull a CIG" and build hype to maximize and trigger more intnl sales before 16D
3 - Someone in FDEV just did by mistake a copy/paste in that Newsletter of a list of main languages around the world from Wikipedia, or somefink...

The Spanish community has already offered free help to mitigate No 1 above. I also still think we can do a much better job than 3rd party professional houses.

Asking for something is fine - this level of vitriol and harrasment is not acceptable from any group.

Re-think your approach.

--- -English ---
We're not asking for anything extraordinary, only what they put on their website to buy the game, which would be translated the Spanish.
I and many bought so if huebieran not sold as translated to departure, I would not have bought.
That in my rule, if a company does not translate into my mother tongue, that company, not semerece me to spend a single euro or penny in it. There are many games to enjoy and have a good time without having to fight with the language.

Smaller companies draw their translated, and even folded games ... Why not you?

Also do not give any kind of information about it ... sometimes with very little lacking ... is much get some information from you.

The truth is that I get so tired and contempt ...

I have a group of friends that usually play online games. I have tried to sell ED to them, and they really like it..... But..... Their English is quite basic and dont seem to be interested anymore..... The translation is a real problem for Spanish community. A few of us translate Galnet, community missions, DEV updates etc..... But this guys maybe get tired of doing this.... What will happen then?....

pleaser take into account the translation into Spanish, we are waiting for it since the game's release

provide a communication at least one delivery

Hey guys, no news on this yet. But I have pointed this thread towards those in charge of this decision. So they know that people want it.

Ed

I am shocked at this, Spanish is in the top 5 most spoken languages in the world and also is one of the more simple languages to translate to. Its not like they are asking for it to be translated in to ancient Egyptian.

Edward... words fail me - if those in charge needed to be told to add localization for the 5th most spoken language on earth into the game, they shouldn't even hold that position in FDev, give them a mop and broom instead.

Why was the game translated into languages spoken by less people before Spanish? Who made that call and why? Why has offers of help been ignored? What exactly are FDev withholding? What do FDev think the translators will do with the text they get? If they don't trust the translators, get it sent to three different volunteers, that should be enough redundancy.

Once again FDev have shown their true nature - they sold us on "We want to make the game all the fans have been waiting for - so give us your money and we will deliver!"

When what they meant was "we will sort of give you the game the fans have been waiting for, but we won't do all that we promised WHEN we promised it - our deadlines are more of a vague intention than an actual timescale - because we want to work on other parts of the franchise; like releasing it on Xbox and Steam first, so we can get more money.. then maybe we'll see about honoring our promises YOU paid for"...

(still no refund yet)

I don't speak Spanish.

But I know there would be a Spanish translation in under a week, at no cost to FD, if they released the text files for the community to work on. So there's no excuse really. The whole game is text based so it should be in every language.

I would like to see Spanish translation before Power Play.

I tried to convince my friend to buy ED but the language barrier did stop him to buy it, I hope FD can resolve this soon than later

I don't speak Spanish, nor do I need any localization but I think it is unfair for the players who have bought this game and is still waiting for their localizations after 5 months of release. I have created a petition for everyone to sign.

Yo no hablo español, ni qué necesito cualquier localización, pero creo que es injusto para los jugadores que han comprado el juego y aún está en espera de sus localizaciones después de 5 meses de su lanzamiento. He creado una petición para todo el mundo a firmar.

I hope the above made sense. I got it from Google Translate.

The bottom line is this.. they have your money so really they have no incentive to keep the promises that they have made. And I think this could be seen clearly with Frontier. They couldn't care less about current customers, they just want more people to be suckered in this broken game.

Singed, please guys! Join the petition!

Elite Dangerous really like, it's a great game, but I can not enjoy it fully.
Fulfill your promise once.
Spanish location now

It is probably another false advertisement like the offline mode and the limited edition flags that this company is becoming famous for

Well, I have to state, that I am a german native speaker and "we" already have our translation. But to be honest, it isn't worth waiting for it, as I (and many others) play the game in English. Translations are never perfect, but even the german localization, that's been there since release is no fun to play. Besides that, I guess I wouldn't understand English as half as good as I do now, if I not nearly all games in the past were not localized at all. I played them all in English and it helped my understanding of the language better than the teachers for twelve years in school did.

I encourage everybody to give the game a try, even if you don't understand everything! This opinion applies to all languages :)
