Spanish language localization promise not fullfilled yet

This message of this forum is being translated by google traslator because I do not understand English, buy this game for the promise of being in Spanish, the game was launched and was not in Spanish, and there is a date.

I want to play in Spanish please!

I want the translation! Frontier promised this for the realese! I m not playing becouse i am waiting for this!

The translation was promised to the realese, so we want the translation. You dont care our language, i think the same i dont care the french! It will be diferent if they will promised translate to our language after the realese, but was one of the lengueges promised!

I am not want a total transalte, at least i want the controls, and if it d possible the missions!

Aun cuando puedo entender tu comentario, creo que no debemos convertir esto es una pelea por la prioridad de un lenguaje sobre otro. Si la promesa fue "traducción para el momento de salir la versión 1.0" entonces no importan los idiomas, la promesa no se cumplió y el reclamo de él es tan válido como el tuyo.

--- Now in english.

Even though I understand your post, I believe we must not made a "my language should be first" argument. If the FD promise a translation with the release, then languages do not matter and the promise was not fulfilled, making BOTH arguments valid (yours and his/her).

Désolé, je ne parle pas assez pour faire une bonne traduction française bien.

As alpha backer i remember the first promise about spanish localization on launch time, after that a lot of things have surpassed it, console version, paints and paints and paints and paints, etc. Where is it? That compromise was one of the reasons to back the game, at last any developers would make justice to spanish language, not more but as important as french or german and more spread than them. Today i am waiting to play a game i put a lot of money on it.

Absolutely. We're not ignoring this. I'm still on the hunt for more information.

Thanks Ed,

As usual I am sure the devil is in the details and there are different layers of translation required for a game like Elite: Dangerous, i.e. more or less "fixed" text that wont change too often, like some of the menus, ship and modules descriptions, generic PG system map info and UI text etc and others that will require almost a "real time" translation eventually such as Galnet and others.

Someone in FDEV would need to be making sure to keep track of any changes required to those based on subsequent updates of the game etc, so we can "re-do" the translation on those as required etc.

We are happy to discuss and agree on the scope for our eventual help, probably addressing first those rather "fixed" texts that are more essential for newcomers.

who cares about spanish? the game has hundreds of bugs and thousands of missing features.
I'd rather want the Devs focused on FINISHING THE GAME, intead of losing precious time in petty translations

Lots of existing players at the moment at the Spanish speaking community who prefer not to play in English bought into the game under the expectation that the game at launch would have had the promised localizations, including Spanish:

All stated at Newsletter 34 in Agust 2014: http://us2.campaign-archive1.com/?u=dcbf6b86b4b0c7d1c21b73b1e&id=8b7e3f3ba9

4 months after release and 8 months after the announcement we still dont have the Spanish localizations.

And many Spanish speaking players have not been able to even start to play the game they bought for that reason. Some have even started wondering if it would have been better for them simply to wait until the first sales hitting the game maybe in Summer or Christmas this year instead.

Other potential commanders were wiser and have simply not bought into the game yet, waiting. The potential market missed here can be significant too.

It would be great if FDEV could at least announce a tentative timeline for this.

I bought the game that promised to be translated the Spanish departure, and not only not been translated out if they have it in mind even translate:

Hey guys, no news on this yet. But I have pointed this thread towards those in charge of this decision. So they know that people want it.

Ed

Four months after departure and eight months after its announcement ...
So much it takes to manage a company do the translation?
Or do you have to wait for developers to learn Spanish so that the game is translated? ;)

The community has always offered, asking nothing in return, to translate the whole game ... but "falls on deaf ears."

Please begin now with the translation. And say something officially ... me and thousands of Spanish speakers would appreciate very much.

Thanks Ed for fetch this information, I thank ...
A commander very lost in the galaxy by the "English language" ...
I would go myself and invite a beer or the like ... but "still missing" ;) ;) ;)

Thank you very much.

Don't be silly. The devs will have very little to do with translation at this point. The game will have been designed to be localised, so it *should* just be a matter of delivering the source text strings to a translation house and getting them to provide translations that fit within the parameters defined (string length, number of words, etc.). In reality there's a bit more to it than that, as there'll need to be some transfer of knowledge about what certain terms actually mean (e.g. Frame Shift Drive). But the majority of the development team won't have any involvement at all.
