[Speculation] Commanders, no walking inside your ships for Odyssey

Why would you want to walk around your ship ? After 10 mins it would be boring.
I would rather they added that after the main planetary walking as a nice to have.

Edit : I very much doubt the ships in ED have been fully modelled inside either (other than the cockpit views)

by your logic, we won't be seeing internal spaces at all,as we havent seen them yet. So you're really claiming there isn't anything we havent seen yet.

Bizarre.

I dont believe you believe that, which implies ...
Thank you for crediting me, but, believe it or not, that is not my logic, not at all. I thought that perceiving and understanding already shared (and ones that aren't) pieces of information is common-sense.

Reading your reaction posts, I guess they are not.

This. There is no reason why walking inside your ship, providing it's planned, wouldn't be shown in the previous or this video. It's simply not there, people.
Guns werent shown.

First person hud wasn't shown.

Internal spaces on outposts weren't shown.

Outside spaces on outposts weren't shown.

No features other than the POINT OF THE VIDEO were shown.

Valid point, but I simply cannot believe they would hide such a big feature for, literally, no reason. They accomplish nothing by hiding it. Nothing, except making the player base frustrated.
Very true. However, FD are notorious for doing exactly that. Remember when they showed off fleet carriers? They almost never, if at all, talked about ship and module storage, despite it being one of the most requested features for carriers. That could've just been down to storage automatically being implied as a feature, but my point stands.

Or, your OP could be completely correct, in that they haven't shown off interiors due to the same reason they only showed the Fleet Carrier jump sequence from outside: There was nothing to show off.

It has been confirmed in a former announcement, though I can't bother to look it up right now. They didn't say explicitly "never", but they were very clear about 'walking in ships' would not be available in Odyssey. Definitely not at release.
But nobody can find that. Nobody. It isn't on the dev tracker, even at the time it was first suggested.

What happened to that comment?

You might be right, no cockpit first person for Odyssey. But we currently don't know is the point. Edit - and the OP is making a bizarre claim based on nothing having changed in terms of news about cockpits.

They haven't talked about what happens if, while out of your ship, you die .... so I guess we're all invincible while on foot?

You’re making stuff up that hasn’t been said. You’ve taken the fact that they didn’t mention something to mean that it won’t happen. You can’t possibly know that.
I have not made anything up, for starters.

And second, I would be more than happy to be proven wrong by FDevs, but it ain't happening. Interiors are not coming. Simple as that.

I think the main reason why you can't walk inside your ship is because your rail gun rifle is like class 4 in size.

You're also forgetting the bulk involved in the previously mentioned armoured codpieces. We know they will be in the game, as they aren't shown in that video. But the codpieces are so massive, that you have to strap them on once you get to the surface. They are simply too big to wear in the ship interiors. Especially the double braced version.

So, when you get to the surface, be ready to strap on your armoured codpiece.

Maybe they aren't. You could be right, but I think the point is, given that Frontier haven't said anything on the subject (and they've said more about VR than interiors) ... the point is, YOU DON'T KNOW.

X-Plane has some highly detailed interior cabins with moving tables, TVs, window shades etc. Some can
even add passengers. After playing with them for 10 minutes I never go back except maybe to rarely look
out a window. My favorite high performance Gulfstream G650 doesn't even have a cabin only the cockpit.
It is awesome flying from the USA to Jamaica especially in current real world weather conditions that are
downloaded from the Internet for a challenge!

Why invest all that coding in ED eye candy if there is no real use for it? Imagine seeing a coded interior but
your imagination version was better. Let's go with interacting cities. I'm GUESSING we'll leave our ED ships
similar to the cut-screen for the SRV and that's fine with me. Not all ships have stairs and walking down/up
them would probably get old pretty quick.

Here's my suggestion on how you please everyone (VR people, don't start on me)
You have a team of over 100 work on the game for over 2 years (maybe closer to 3) re-coding the entire game if necessary, some on planets, some on flora & fauna, some on the ship models, both internal and external.

Then you have an option, it could be in the UI, or a ship option like requesting docking, that transports you, Star Trek style, onto the planet surface.
If you don't want to teleport, you can walk through the ship if you choose to.

Why does this have to be an either/or thing? Why must there be only one option?

1. Guns werent shown.

2. First person hud wasn't shown.

3. Internal spaces on outposts weren't shown.

4. Outside spaces on outposts weren't shown.

No features other than the POINT OF THE VIDEO were shown.
1. A commander standing in front of their SRV had a gun on her back.
2. A commander wielding the new sampling tool was shown in the first-person scenario. True, no HUD, but you got the idea of how it will look from that perspective. Hey, they showed something, at least.

Regarding 3 and 4... They did announce outposts back in June, so it is logical to assume that details regarding those will come sometime in the future.

Not even a word has been said about walking inside our ships. And it's not that hard to figure out why is that, it's not rocket science, dude.

I've been getting that impression too, to be honest, because it's not something they would come out and say "yeah, ship interiors are not (yet) planned" unless they were responding to a direct question. That being said, maybe we will be surprised. I actually really liked this dev diary and I was surprised by some of what I saw.
