I mean in a vacuum id prefer the spider over howler aswell, but i feel the spider monkey will lead to a similar situation as the porcupine. Where getting the spider monkey means that the rest of the animals will be very simple reskins because its production cost is so high. And i really dont want to see a SA pack where the other animals are just american flamingo and brazilian tapir level additions.
I don’t think it would be that bad though. We’ve only seen that kind of situation happen with an animal pack, we don’t know how the team divides for scenery packs. For instance they could have a team for animals and a team for pieces, and since the animals team has 3 less to make, they could potentially spend more time on the 4. Ocelot is the cat rig, Spectacled bear is the bear rig, Patagonian Mara is an altered Capy rig, etc. The only problem I see is the coati which probably does need a lot of work. Although…
The spider monkey actually probably doesn’t need all the attention though, with the porcupine it took the longest to detail the quills and the weight of them all moving together, this is a completely different situation than the spider monkey, where it shouldn’t have any appearance troubles and just need a couple reworks to it’s climbing animations, it’s basically the gibbon with an extra limb to grab onto the bar. Spider monkeys do have an interesting behaviour for climbing but I don’t think it’s that intense that it would need all of production time. It can climb on top of the rope like a capuchin, it can swing like a gibbon, just combine these and add a tail, that’s really the major add in. Rest is just posture. It also runs and walks on the ground exactly like the gibbon. It would be cool however if we get a hanging just by the tail animation.
TLDR: Therefore, I think that a roster consisting of:
- South American Coati
- Spectacled Bear
- Geoffrey’s Spider Monkey
- Ocelot / Vicuña / Rhea (or another wildcard clone)
- Second sloth or Emerald Boa
Is completely a reasonable ask.
