Spring 2024 DLC Speculation

Half the time an Amazon pack is brought up, the monkeys people want aren't even from the Amazon. The black howler, golden lion tamarin, Geoffroy's spider monkey... Literally none of these are Amazonian lol.
I also wouldnt coin it amazonas lol
Id go for central america scenery, geoffreys, spoon bill, ocelot and coati, best case macaws worst case normal exhibit.

If we follow that up with summer island animal pack, shetland pony, kunekune pig, nene goose, victoria crowned pidgeon, celebes crested macaque, lowland anoa, rhinoceros iguana, masagascar exhibit like a chameleon and then a treetops scenery with the second spider monkey, treekangaroo, yellow throated marten, preferably another bird and the correct sloth we just conveniently coverd south america, domestics, new guinea and back filled some usefull animals to SEA.

Mountain animal pack in winter with barbary sheep, geladas, golden pheasent, spectacle bear, alpine marmot, olm, yellow footed rock wallaby and the conveniently endemic to mountain rain forest cotton top tamarin and we got a banger last pack that fills up every neglected region besides NA.

Sounds like a damn good year to me and i just scrambled those together without much thought

Fits in like the rest of the dlc then 😂 The kinda amazon pack that features animals who live around said region because the community keeps demanding they want that species over this species.

Doubling down on this, people who claim that the Geoffroy’s / Black Handed Spider Monkey will do wonders for South American rep…

It isn’t even native to the continent. It’s a Central American animal, and therefore would be North American rep. It POSSIBLY has range in Colombia, but it’s not definite. So sorry to disappoint, but your fave is NA.

If I had to go off a full year of dlc I would only care to fill the areas in this game that actually need expansion on (IMO):

  1. South America
  2. Birds
  3. Domestics/ Children’s Zoo
  4. Meta Wishlist fan final pack
I think this would fix some of the issues where I have building for this game, either due to a lack of options or having no options at all. I would also probably change it so it would either be 1 scenery pack, or none at all. Outside of props I don’t have any more themes I really need, I can make almost everything in game. Or someone else makes it and uploads it on the workshop. I’m not too pressed for building at this point and would rather get as many animals in the game before support ends. I can see Frontier providing official support for fanmade stuff like they did for Planet Coaster. I cannot see them doing that for animals however.

Back on the duck topic, I think we really need at least three:
  1. A temperate species - my choice would be mallard for versatility.
  2. A tropical species - A whistling-duck would be best here I think
  3. A coastal species - Some kind of shelduck would be great.
Then beyond that I would want even more, I'd love mandarin duck, ringed teal... And this is biased but there is definitely a number of European species I would love to have so I can create a native wetlands scene.

I can confirm after seeing both large species (howler) of monkey up close, the spider monkey would be so damn cool to have in game and would easily by my favourite animal of the entire game. I watched them for like the last hour at a sanctuary and I could watch them all day. I know that it would be hard to implement them in the game, but I don’t care if the rest of its pack is clones, I want it so bad 😭

But at the end of the day it’s a new world monkey, and that’s ultimately the goal cause if it comes in a SA pack the rest of the pack can fill that void.

Thinking back on the idea of an Americas pack, might be the way to go, because both pelican and spider monkey can fit it perfectly.

That's why a Latin America pack or a more general Americas pack would be better imo
Yup for sure. I know some would rather it not be called Latin America, but I honestly feel like that's the best name for it, at least for an animal pack. If it's a scenery pack (and I hope it isn't) I'm very much hoping it's a Central American set, and that we'd get some of the Amazon and non-Amazon South American animals in a finale type of pack.

This is of course operating on the speculation we'll get two more packs, one being a focused pack in all or part of Latin America. If we literally have just the finale type of pack left, Howler Monkey, Coatimundi and Spectacled Bear, and another primate for the Latin American regions, if they can manage it. I want more, but I'd honestly be "okay" with just that Latin American representation in some kind of wrap up pack.

New World is technically another term, I'm sure it has problems too, also implying an Old World pack.

There's also Neotropical which is more the scientific term.

We got the Old World pack in the base game.

I mean, it's justified, considering that African animals make up a large portion of iconic animals in real ife, and that Asian animals probably come second to that, but as far as habitat animals go I think there were a total of 7 animals in the base game from Oceania/North and South America, 8 now with the Peccary.

Let’s also remember that when we got the biome packs we got wetlands, tropical, arid and grasslands, we all expected some sort of cold themed biome pack, but we never got it.
So I think it’s fair to say we get a New World Pack without complaint of a missing Old World pack.

Frontier: how about new fox?
I saw a Grey Fox for the first time today and I gotta say while I don’t think we need a new fox, it was really cute to just watch sleep there, every time I made a noise when stepping back it opened its eyes and twitched 🥺

Side note: After also seeing them irl for the first time, I kinda want the in game capuchin to get a touch up with the fur after seeing how fluffy they look irl.

When it's part of an obvious dichotomy it does come across a bit differently (the JWEs have a few opposing pairs for example).

It is one out of four or more names, so it's pretty easy to avoid leading people on.

You could argue there's no Antarctic pack, which is decent evidence for no follow through on binaries, but people would be difficult to convince against an Old World pack for a while.

Id argue there is no antarctic pack because there are only penguins and seals over there and there isnt any real scenery either.
Which makes a 2 penguins + 2 seals scenery pack really unlikely and a 4 penguins + 3 seals animal pack is just silly

New world already exists as a base game theme so frontier clearly has no problem with those kind of terms.
This just make the idea of a new world pack even less likely since the theme isnt referencing the new world / americas its referencing modern buildings which would make an old world pack stand out as not fitting them theme old world.

I want an antartica pack so bad though, I need more penguins and seal but if it were to happen it would definitelty be a scenery probably focused on like maritime and polar expedition pieces maybe some like lighthouse pieces.
