Spring 2024 DLC Speculation

Why is it so hated? Such a fascinating animal, and it would also be our first African crocodile. In my opinion, the Nile crocodile is very important for an African area. Everyone knows it, and everyone has to agree that it is one of the most famous animals that we are missing.
It's hated by some because it's too similar in looks to the saltwater crocodile, so it is branded a "clone" animal. When discussing crocodiles for Africa, many prefer the slender snouted crocodile since it does look unique to what we have over the Nile.

I agree with you on everything. I once made the mistake of proclaiming that the Nile crocodile was my african crocodile of choice as well. It did not went well.

Its not that i hate the nile croc, i just much prefer the slendersnouted for multiple reasons. Some of which are that its more unique looking, were dont really have any crocs in the pretty big size gap between the caiman and alligator and its much easier to incorporate into indoor settings which are 100% of the crocodilian habitats i build

Just a quick FYI. If you make an image that looks official,
@CharlieXGaming where is your amazing artwork?
Is it illegal to create that kind of things here?
Posts that have the official logo are not allowed. The picture can be posted somewhere on Reddit and everyone thinks there's a DLC coming. That's just an example. It can spread. We don't want any headaches for Frontier to sort.

Understood, sorry about that I thought because it’s April fools day and the way I phrased it and putting a not official tag on it there would be an exception but makes sense why it was deleted.

If we get a South America animal package, these are my 8 favorites.

1. South American Coati
2. Patagonian Mara
3. Scarlet Ibis
4. Golden Lion Tamarin / Guianan Squirrel Monkey
5. Southern Tamandua
6. Kinkajou
7. Geoffroy’s Spider Monkey
8. Black Howler Monkey

I would also be happy about a Spectacled Bear or a Black Caiman, but in the case of the Black Caiman I see that other animals are more important at the moment.

Actually the white faced saki, it's one of the more needed monkeys that I can use in my projects. A lot of tropical houses opt for white faced saki monkeys over spider or howler monkeys.
I would love the white faced saki! I saw them recently in zoo Planckendael where they are actually kept in an outdoor Walkthrough enclosure together with lion Tamarins. Off course they have a shelter with heathing... First time I saw them not kept in a tropical house. But really these guys are so Fun to look at.

It is just potentionally there is one DLC left and having a slot filled with yet another crocodillian would be dissapointing to many people. If we had more packs coming, I think it would get a pass, but sadly that is probably not the case.

Or even more anniversaries. Even if I thought we had another eighteen months of DLC left I really don't want another slot filled with a crocodile.

I'm still sore about the spectacled caiman. Granted I like it a lot more than Cuvier's, but it was almost as disappointing as the water monitor, quality be damned.

The hate for extra crocodillians has allways been overblown and at times non sensical.

People are still clammering for more canids, bears, antelopes and especally felids but crocs is where we draw the line?

I agree that id rather get any other reptile then a croc, but a croc that brings something new, which really isnt that hard with stuff like the slender slouted croc, african dwarf croc or even the two running crocs with the cuban and australian fresh water croc.

The most ironic part is that those crocs are "to similar and wasted space" while subspecies like the northern lion are often brought up by the same people.
Ah yes sure a new different looking croc is less deserving of a spot then the EBB, pardon me

This is how I have felt about most of the non-mammal groups. (Obligatory not to say there aren’t other mammals I wouldn’t want, not trying to single people out or shame anyone)

It’s just weird how while some clamor for another bear for the Americas, or for another Asian cat, others have to justify clones for even some of the more popular animals.
  1. Crocodiles stands out, considering this was the most recent argument. Yes regardless of the amount of crocodilians in game, Africa not having any is very weird.
  2. Tortoises are up there too, a new habitat tortoise can bring a lot. Even if it is something like the African spurred tortoise.
  3. Flamingos, yes I understand most people would rather have another pink bird. That doesn’t change the fact that one of the most popular types of zoos animals only has one species to use. The Caribbean flamingo is a common species in captivity, and its vibrant pink is beautiful.
Yes even these “clones” can add a lot to the game, even if it is a species others don’t personally value. Even an extra bear, cat, or dog has value. So while I understand we all have our own opinions on species, no one animal is a bad addition to the game. If the titan beetle, proboscis monkey, and Saige antelope can get in game than every and all animals are valuable in some way shape or form.

I counted 15 animals.

But yeah true a lot of species from China that would make great additions. Out of those i personally really want the golden pheasant, reeve's muntjac and the GSNM. Pere david deer and chinese alligator all have great conservation value so would be nice to have. And the yellow throated marten would give us a colorful yet different carnivore. So that and the mandarin duck would complete my list of 7 habitat animals for a Chinese Animal Pack, with the chinese giant salamander as the exhibit animal.
I added 5 more animals, mainly ungulates, to enrich the list.:)
