Spring dlc Speculation 2023

I'm curious! Do you think the next pack will be an animal pack or a scenery pack? I personally want another animal pack to be honest. We just need more animals! But I think it could go either way.
Logic points towards an animal pack. The pattern hasn't changed; it was just rearranged to market the Halloween Pack. If that marketing angle didn't exist Grasslands would have probably come in early October and we'd be getting Twilight for Christmas instead.

I also prefer an animal pack but honestly I expect that we get a scenery pack. And thats why I really do not hope for tropical rainforests for spring as this pack would certainly perfect as an animal pack.
That's what I think the game needs.

Here's my version of a Tropical/Rainforest Animal Pack, I don't think it's likely though. I'm not including flying birds since they aren't in the game yet.

1. Linne's/Hoffman's Two-Toed Sloth
2. Fossa
3. Red River Hog
4. South American Coati
5. Black-Handed Spider Monkey
6. Goodfellow's Tree Kangaroo
7. Radiated Tortoise
8. Malaysian/Indian Flying Fox (WE)

There are honestly so many paths you could go down with this. I'm honestly not really picky when it comes down to a particular species. I was tempted to put another South American primate instead of the radiated tortoise, but I really want a small tortoise species. My pack is mammal heavy partially because I'm basic and like mammals the most, but also because the I could think of any primarily ground-dwelling birds that are common in captivity (criteria that matters a lot to me personally) and is truly a tropical species (kiwi?).

I would personally like another bat, specifically a New World bat, but I'm not an expert when it comes to bats, so I couldn't really find harmless New World species that are common in captivity. Are any bat nerds out there to give some input? So I went with my next choice an Asian megabat. I'm not really picking, I just want something different from the Egyptian fruit bat we have in game. If we had a non-walkthrough exhibit, my pick would be the vampire bat hands down.

Two scenery sets I think we still need are:

A Children's Zoo/Farm Scenery pack, preferably with pieces to more easily build playgrounds and educational areas. Actual transparent raised glass pathways would also be so, so, so incredibly useful.

A "botanical" pack with more commonly cultivated plants like gingko trees, prune mungo pine, tulips, hostas etc. As well as GRIDDED MESH PIECES.

Yes to all this especially. You know what I also want? A Plantpedia. I'd love a comprehensive infobook about the in-game foliage, highlighting not only where they naturally grow, but also where they can grow in exotic environments. For example, the date palm is a hot-climate grass from grassland, scrub, and desert envrionments, but it can grow well in my neighbourhood in New Zealand, which is firmly in the temperate zone. That sort of information on-hand would be a blessing for building realistic zoos if you want to apply exotic foliage without sticking something that can only grow in the tropics in northern Norway or something.

Yes to all of this! I would also so much love some kind of plant label/plant information board similar to the animal information boards.

But also, I want Planet Garden to come out one day. Not a farming simulator; a garden simulator for putting trees and plants and landscaping around buildings. It would be such a joy in the winter.

Wonderful habitat choices, but rainforest pack without gecko or chamaleon as exhibit animals make me cry... 🦎

Im honest, frontier finally found a way to fill the exhibit slot with something everybody likes, i really hope they wont take the step back to the honestly just very niche in use exhibit boxes.
Their time is much better spend refining and enhancing the new one
Even with how exciting the axolotl made everyone, I'm not sure more than a few dozen people actually still routinely use the exhibit box. It's like I have 39 exhibit boxes in my current zoo and the average walkthrough I see maybe 2-3 exhibit animals spending a decent time trying to spot them. The lack of a meaningful exhibit rework and a huge lack of choice, function and user interactivity regarding typical exhibit boxes means no one cares.

Expect frontier is now shifting some resources from habitat species into exhibits. Last 2 pack really shows that.
We will get less enrichment animations (this would explain why there are no new enrichment items) and fewer unique habitat species.
If that means that we get packs with 5 and 8 animals instead of 4+1 and 7+1 useability wise im all for it.
Id rather have them make the enritchment allready in game used by more species anyways

I more towards to Animal Pack, but I still think Scenery dlc It's also very likely because It's like with twilight pack that It was supposed to be an animal pack but in the end it was a scenery pack. and now because the next dlc will out probably few days before the Easter, so it also pretty likely to be scenery pack. if it would be scenery pack what I think will be option as a Scenery Pack
Planet Zoo: Zoo Pack
Animals:
  • African Crested Porcupine
  • Linnaeus's Two-Toed Sloth
  • African Spurred Tortoise
  • Any Rabbit
  • Walkthrough Exhibit: 5 Species Of Macaws (Hyacinth Macaw, Blue-And-Yellow Macaw, Scarlet Macaw, Chestnut-Fronted Macaw, Spix's Macaw)
Scenery: More Backstage Stuff, New Set Of Faux Rocks, And More Zoo stuff like in the Update we can get finally Playgrounds?
I think dlc like that would be really cool pack, it has the 2 of the 10 top animals, the most wanted Tortoise for now and we need another tortoise in the game! Rabbit for the easter, and finally birds! even though maybe sloth and Macaws could be save for like Rainforest Animal Pack or the Macaws of course can be for Aviary Pack.
I know this Pack It's not the most Easter Pack but It's like the New Grasslands Animal Pack that we got in december! so It's mean that frontier not really looking on the seasons now so everything is possible! ✨

It's far too early to make any kind of conclusion like this, especially when the packs you're referring to are packs that were worked on at the same time. (We've known this is the case since the Europe/NA pack)

It's obvious that there were more resources invested in the walkthrough exhibit than previous exhibits. They cashed on it twice, which was clever and worth the investment for these two DLCs. So of course, that bigger initial investment probably caused fewer resources elsewhere for these two packs, but that by no means means that it will have a lasting impact on future packs. And that also doesn't mean that from now on we'll only get walkthrough exhibits or that we'll get more exhibit animals than usual.

Especially because the latter is based solely on the fact that we got 5 butterflies, which isn't something you can just translate to whatever animal. New butterfly species can be made in about a similar amount of time you'd need to make a unique variant skin for an animal, as once you have a good base model you just need to make new textures and unlike most animals butterflies are collected and you can find texture references on those very easily.

All in all, there's a very real possibility that the walkthrough exhibits are just another tool in the toolbox when it comes to exhibits. We've gotten aquatic exhibits (as Frontier called the ones with water in them) but afterwards gotten regular ones as well. So there's no reason to assume that the regular exhibit boxes are over.

And that also doesn't mean that from now on we'll only get walkthrough exhibits or that we'll get more exhibit animals than usual.
True, there isn't a guarantee. Like, let's assume we're getting raptors, right? They don't really look similar enough to justify being "clones" or "reskins" of each other like the butterflies are. But, take a macaw, and you can easily make 2 or 3 other species with 1 model. So, it probably also depends on what the DLC theme is and the animal they choose. We only got 1 bat, not multiple, after all.
So there's no reason to assume that the regular exhibit boxes are over.
True, and I hope they aren't, either. There are still many reptiles and amphibians I'd like to see make it, like chameleons and more snakes. At this point, I'm assuming we won't get a major exhibit overhaul other than null barriers for them, but who knows? Maybe we'll get smaller sizes and interspecies enrichment (dart frogs being a major one to mix and match)

It'll be interesting to see how far this thread gets. Keeping in mind we're probably looking at a late March/early April release, if we follow the past Spring DLC patterns. Though this year has definitely shown us patterns can be changed. Going to do my best to just be chill until early March at very least.

I think it will be another 4 month wait with absolutely no clues on what possible dlc it may be. The winter thread was heavily driven with birds,Taiga and island speculation but this time it's very mixed on what the community agrees what may come. The Tasmanian devil and it's accompanying island pack hype continues into its third block with the 'perfect' time of year for such a pack. With the pattern changed, no clear predictions and no seasonal pattern, this may be a wild 4 months of speculation. Just hoping the 'controversial' topics are calmly discussed

For me this Time its harder than ever to say or guess whats coming next. Regionbased? Biome? Something completely different? Cant even say if its gonna be a Scenery or Animal Pack. But thats kinda fun :)
