Spring dlc Speculation 2023

Lol i don't feel that extreme about the twilight pack since it gave us the bats, the wombat and few useful building pieces but yeah... is the worst by far.
This reveals my biggest Planet Zoo hot take. The SEA Animal Pack was pretty great. Only real quams for me are the animal quality (especially Malayan tapir) and the inclusion of the proboscis monkey over a gibbon or langur for me. Other than that, animal selection is perfect, essential animals for modern North American zoos. I barely build nice things, cause I'm just here for the animals tbh. So my criteria for DLC comes down to which animals help me create AZA/CAZA-inspired zoos. Only exception is the Deluxe Upgrade Pack as I think it's a bit overpriced for what it is, but if money=more DLC, then Frontier can just have my whole savings account.

Probably not but I guess some are out of ideas for speculation this week
We have already said so many ideas: rainforests, coastal, desert, highlands, nocturnal, arboreal, domestic, and a very long etc. So for now we can't speculate too much
So... um... lest speculate if we will get rabbits for Easter and Swans for Valentine's Day
Maybe Frontier will indeed release a petting zoo or children's zoo pack in March with rabbits and waterfowl.
Interesting thing. I personally only want rabbits because in my local zoo have them, but for other part they do not fit in a zoo for nothing. Altought, swans are a very cool idea, but i cannot see them without mallards. The mallards are the essence of every zoo. Wild or kept, they're always there. Mandarins and wood ducks are cooler, but mallards have a legendary reputation in zoos
I'll be ok with any duck at this point. I can wait for the mods for my favorite ducks later on, but we really need waterfowl. Please Frontier listen to our prayers.
Birds that do not need to fly, have an ok quantity of representations and aren't as difficult as flying birds? Perfect animals for literally EVERY zoo? I see them coming!
Actually it's wild geese (barnacle geese) where I am but yeah mallards are very much Essential for the general zoo. Waterfowl ponds wouldn't feel the same without some sort of common duck - not saying it has to be Mallard either ducks like coots, shovelers or merganser would be fine. Mandarin and wood ducks seem to be more of a speciality duck in my experience rather than generic waterfowl
I do hope we will get some more domestics this year, it pains me to make a petting zoo with llamas and basically wild animals. Very much an animal pack is needed to cover the basics since the dromedary Camel seems to be a popular choice while not exactly the most familiar petting zoo animal like sheep, goat or pigs
We desperately need a waterfowl rig, the existing mods right now are so cursed with ducks or swans floating over land since they are based on the flamingo rig

Probably i would replace the echidna with a sumatran rhino or another island animal, but cool idea
Funnily enough the long beaked echidna is a more realistic option as at least 2 zoos hold that echidna currently. As usual it's taronga zoo holding the odd and wonderful species, I would still prefer the short beaked though

Yeah, echidna would fit better in a woodland pack. Sumatra rhino is cool, but I still need the black rhino.
I choosed long beaked one due the larger size and its more "common" in zoos
Lmao, didnt knew 2 holding in the AZA + confirmed 0 in the EAZA of the longbeaked are more then 17 holdings in the EAZA alone of the shortbeaked.
+ why have the new guinea only one when the other literally lives everywhere in australia and tasmania aswell as in new guinea?
Hands down the short beaked is in every single way, that isnt the subjective finding one more visually appealing then the other, the superior choice.
Edit: sry its 4 am, didnt see that you were refering to the sumatran rhino with the more common, thought you reffered to callums take of prefering the short beaked

Maybe rabbits don't really fit into a zoo, but basically (even though I'm not really a rabbit fan myself) I think they should be included.
Why? - Well rabbits have a very special and unique way of moving. The game brings a new unique species with special movements and behavior more than the 20th cat, which is not much different from other cats, except that it may lick the left paw instead of the right paw.
The same applies to ducks, swans, pelicans, geese and chickens. While the animals might seem a bit boring on their own, they just bring so much more to the game in terms of variety.
I don't care if an animal fits into the zoo theme in general, I think it's much more important to get unique animals.
What we (and the modders) then make of it is up to us.
Check on zootierliste, there are 13 EAZA zoos with the new guinea subspecies, 3 without a specific subspecies and 1 with the south eastern subspecies
