Spring dlc Speculation 2023

Besides the tamarins being exhibit animals, thats a really cool idear. For scenery it could bring some plants that either are often used in regrowing forests or activly being rewilded themself, aswell as a scenery theme focused either around education or the act of rewilding itself, with the pipe dream being a theme about the reasons why animals died out in the first place. Having items for education sections about poaching, habitat destruction and some more general purpose tools would be great
I never said they were exhibit animals ;)

As long as they have a tree house to retreat to in cold weather and spend 100% in the trees they can be habitat animals

The only issue I'd say I have with petting zoos in real-life in zoos is that I think there should be staff supervision over the walk-through enclosures.

Since these species are domesticated, they can't and shouldn't be released into the wild. Their best life will be in captivity, so I don't think there's an anti-conversation message if they are included in the game. It's just a matter of how they are executed in the game. I am sure they will still have ethical requirements. And since you can release Bactrian camels and llamas, which are domesticated, I don't think this is something Frontier cares about that.

I had some ideas at one point of how this should be improved. Imma state my ideas again:

In real-life, domestic animals aren't released. Albino/leucistic animals aren't released either (I'm not sure about other colormorphs). So, how should the animals trading/releasing system be fixed? The following points (and feel free to share y'all's feedback on these):
  • Colormorphs shouldn't be released into the wild at all
    • On top of this, colormorphs should be more popular than standard and draw in crowds
  • Domestic animals shouldn't be released into the wild as they're domestic
  • Baby animals should be allowed to be traded. Zoos do this in real-life, so it'd make sense for it to be possible in-game

On another subject, how do y'all feel about famous animals? For example, maybe we can have a reputation system in the game where some animals can get more and more famous, drawing in more crowds...

This is definitely something I wish would be added to the game! I mostly play Franchise, and these would definitely add make the experience more realistic and strategic. So Frontier, include this in Update 1.14 or I'll be sad (assuming 1.13 is already finished). 😂 Stuff like this is honestly what I want more in the free updates. I know a lot of this would be useless to sandbox though.

Because it got caught in the domestic poll deletion somehow...

One of my big reasons for wanting domestics is story based. I like playing and replaying career mode. I also like making fake challenges and storylines to complete. It makes the game more gamey to me.

Since domestics and farming are linked to many unique conservation challenges today, having them would open up a ton of new story possibilities for me. I'm currently fakinga few with Dallas sheep and llamas, but it's not the same, especially when I want to tell stories like "domestic goat outcompeting native goat and how can farmers and wildlife both be happy?"

Even though I dislike the timed scenarios, the terrace map from the SEA pack is one of my favorites for this kind of story telling based play.

Frankly the announcement of the update I would say not before March 28th. And the announcement of the DLC is not before March 29. And the complete release of the DLC and the update is not before April 11th but I hope rather.

Me too I'm really looking forward to seeing what the new DLC will be about.
Ok, the Wetlands pack was released the 12 april, but the SEAA was released the 30 March, so maybe we could hope for an early date ?

Maybe a different question: Which of the common DLC ideas flowing around would you like to see the least for the next Pack and why?

The most common ones I personally see are bird, island, mountain/highland, and some form of forest dlc. Out of those probably mountain but it heavily depends on the roster. Especially since that one seems the most prone to people shoving any animal that could possibly fit.

Same for me. A mountain pack would be the one i would look towards to the least.
Mainly because a lot of the likely animals for such a pack like takins, markhor and andean bears arent that high on my personal wishlist at all.

This might be an unpopular opinion but I think having a DLC where we get like 50 new exhibit box animals would really be great, these have gotten left behind and we really should have way more than we have currently. Maybe distribute it like this?
  • 10 Lizards
  • 10 Snakes
  • 5 Turtles
  • 7 Frogs
  • 3 Salamanders
  • 10 Invertebrates
  • 5 Small Mammals
After that we could honestly just be fine with having no more after this for food. Just give us a massive boost as well as different sized exhibit boxes alongside it and the rest of the DLC can make use of walkthroughs.

I'd lose my mind over something like this

That would be a decent way of introducing more exhibit size options as well as more customization options for exhibits. Just have a giant pack of animals to experiment with. Probably won't happen though unfortunately.

Taiga/tundra/boreal/whatever you want to call it. It's not the most popular, but it's still brought up often enough. The most commonly discussed species (muskox, wolverine, walrus, etc) just do nothing for me. Thankfully, I seriously can't picture that as our spring pack given how much better of a fit it would've been for winter. I also wouldn't be too thrilled by a general temperate forests pack at this point. Conversely, I'm totally fine with the somewhat more popular mountain/highlands theme that is sometimes discussed in the same breath as these.

Alternatively, I don't want any more scenery packs, ever.

I'm fine with all of the other most common themes I see discussed - tropical, islands, desets/drylands, petting/children's zoo/domestics, the previously mentioned mountain/highlands, bird explosion.
