Star Citizen Discussion Thread v11

It means the end of juicy gossip most likely :/

And that everyone will now settle on their own narrative of who won ;)
Each side will assume they won, but the only loser is well known : the backers.
I have NMS on PS4. For me, this is a very different game than ED and scratches different itches. I've been tempted by it on PC because of VR, but I think I would grow bored with it pretty quick (I've already experienced the "fun" stuff). The one thing that keeps me potentially interested is the ability to explorer other player's bases and freighters in VR. Some people have made crazy-cool bases from what I've seen on YouTube. Being able to walk around inside these in VR might make the game worth investing the money and time into....

Ironically this is also the one thing that caused me to take interest in Star Citizen, the ability to explore stations, planets, and cities "on foot", albeit in 2D rather than VR.
The thing is the ship and space (let's not talk about "sim" or flight model) parts are in their most barebone shapes. Though contrary to SC they're neither a struggle nor a boring waste of time as everything is seconds away and doesn't need piloting skills or such.

I remember i bet the remaining points would be settled, got blasted by a few disciples of the Dark One for that ("Skadden is never wrong !" "They never lost a case" "You just are parroting the reddit cultists and Leonard French !"...). But hey, look what just happened... This will be all under NDA wraps by default, unless the judge decides otherwise, so indeed the exact nature of the settlement is everyone's guess. Given Crytek cannot ask for damages this will be probably covering licence costs for the extra tools CiG "forgot" to pay for and a few other points that were not outright dismissed by the judge before that. I'm certain that now some will scream "90 days top !" (where are they these days, by the way, got tired of hitting on easy targets ?) - lets see how right they are this year.

You didn't mention all the backers who said it was a slam dunk case for CIG that would put Crytek out of business (see CaptainBerks streams, for example).

How is that 'given'?
They would have to prove that in a lawsuit...

I dont really watch the cultist channels.. i mostly follow this thread and that's quite enough for me for SC. I was talking about this very forum in a former iteration of this mighty thread..

Not if a settlement is reached, they don't. That is what a settlement is. An agreement to end the case without further court involvement. We simply don't know what the terms are, and nothing can be inferred beyond the fact that both parties prefer the terms of the settlement to taking it further in court. Either of the parties involved could end up paying the other a substantial sum, and we have no way of knowing how much.

Of course the case has gone to settlement. All of the juicy, damaging and potentially expensive (for CIG) claims had already been dismissed, and they were then at the point where the remaining claims were too small to warrant further protracted legal expense.

Keep in mind that the Judge has to allow settlement. The legal system in my country allows the judge to not accept the settlement. It is rare but it does happen so I am waiting for the official sign off :)

Oh my....

Star Citizen' Devs & Fans Talk Carrack's Release

Backers get hyped for the release of a ship. Everyone else is waiting for the release of a game.

the game currently features a full-scale solar system

Well, actually, not a even a complete system yet, and not full scale.

built on bleeding-edge technology,

Built on decade old technology

It features dozens of ships

Some that cost hundreds or even thousands of dollars

is hailed as a Jack-of-all-trades exploration powerhouse

For a game that doesn't have exploration mechanics

To its owners and admirers alike, it's been compared to iconic ships like the Enterprise, Millenium Falcon and the Normandy.

Of course they do. Got to tie everything in SC to something popular because it can't stand on its own merits.

this one is designed for the longest of long journeys

As long as you don't want to go any long distances of course, since there is nowhere to explore

Whether the Carrack is being used for bounty hunting or as a huge party bus

So, the exploration ship that will be used for combat or just derping around on.

"It was promised with so many things, and there was so little concept art to validate all those things,

Art driven design? Yup, that's CIG.

"As a matter of priority, there are many other things that needed to come before this.

Well, exploration mechanics might be something that should be addeed first

As CIG continued to flesh out the rest of the features necessary to fully realize the ship's vision, this overtly transparent development team was forced to go quiet for quite some time, at least as far as the Carrack was concerned.

But they are still releasing without any exploration mechanics, so this is pure poo poo

Star Citizen alpha 3.8 is live now on PC.

Alpha... nuff said.

I could go on, but really, this is a pure fluff peice.
