So that doesn't really explain why every new flight model is seen as a positive by the backers.Yes, as long as the model improves over time.
Quite the opposite.

Hold on. Do you really want someone to dig up the archives ? Because that's how you get someone to dig up the archives. The vast majority of what the devs talk about is delivered.

I'm referring to SC supporters. There's been a few, the latest one was in v11 who advertised CIG's accomplishments and SC progress. The usual counter arguments and pointing out of lies/holes/ineptiude by CIG ensued. Eventually the supporter offhandedly accused someone of not following SC development closely enough to know better. Later on the supporter was confrunted with evidence of flase statements by CIG (probably on a different subject) countering his own claims of how SC had progressed, he then claimed he hasn't been following the development that long, absolving himself of taking responsibility for his earlier pro SC propaganda.Your sentence is for Stuart, the young backers or for both ?
it goes back even before that.Expurgated timeline of Squadron 42 progress:
2016 - July: CIG employee states, "I have played through every mission because I come from QA and it was my job to do so." (link)
2016 - August: "Roberts said that all of the game’s chapters and gameplay are at the “grey-box” level, which means that development is nearly complete, but the last set of assets aren’t included yet, and the developers want to give it a final polish. " (link)

Comedy gold. You just can't make this stuff up.
It's almost like wanna-be film maker Chris Roberts is making his own version of The Curious Case ofBenjamin ButtonSquadron 42.
That guys sounds like his lives in a world of his own. The most blatant lie was the sandworm "already in game". More recent lie was the putting everything into developing SC or SQ depending on which one wasn't on the spotlight. If every resource was put on SC/SQ42, how did they make TOW?Nice thread, with white knights pulling all stops: Source: https://www.reddit.com/r/starcitizen/comments/i26b02/citizencon_2016_rant_while_drinking_beer/g02mbbg/?context=3
That "Bluegobln" citizen is really pulling the "you don't understand game development" on me haha. And starts comparing CiG with... SpaceX, of all things. Lots of entertainment, i cant be bothered to reply anymore (too deep in the Reddit tree..) but that gives you an idea of the convoluted reasoning they have to keep by now to continue supporting CiG and think they are doing a good job.
Like when i ask "Did spaceX trash their whole design entirely and start a completely different rocket after each "iteration" ?"
The reply is: "Did CIG with their ships? Nope."... Of course, the whole game development is about ships (*). Makes sense, in a way. Gives us a window on the expectation of this kind of people, as long as their 3D pixels are being delivered, it's ok, and we can call that "iterations".
(*) (edit) besides, they did redo each and every ship over again, a few times...
What always catch my eye in videos from CIG are the spaceship models. The money they spent getting them made, for what reason I don't know.it goes back even before that.
I feel like I’m watching the Producers myself...Comedy gold. You just can't make this stuff up.

Now, now. Let's be fair to CI¬G.
They never had a roadmap before so this changes nothing.
Perhaps a long time ago when the PTV and the PYR were not in.
It's like if I was claiming in Odyssey that FDev will remove the SRV where in fact FDev is just talking about a new FPS gun for Odyssey.
I start to understand a lot of things if your infos have those sort of 'accuracy'.

The card Stuart was talking about is about a cutting module for the PYR. It might be used to cut doors in FPS missions and perhaps boarding ships.

Well, at least I don't actually care about downvotes.![]()
Yes, as long as the model improves over time.
Like in every software, modify version after version to have better fonctionnalities...
Yes, but several month ago I could have said 'CIG will deliver a new flight model' and it would have been true. I could also have used 'will' for the planetary tech, the weather, the hunger/thirst, the caves, prison, etc.
The vast majority of what the devs talk about is delivered.

I do not think that is the issue, here. In a reasonably competent company that could be indeed true. But CIG has shown year after year for almost 9 years that they can not simply iterate to a point where it will work properly.
Let me see if I can put it to you more graphically. I can say:
I will be making the best damned spaceship ever. One the likes of which SpaceX or NASA can not rival with. My ship will reach each and every planet in the solar system. And will be able to carry 100 passengers in it, it will have olimpic size swimming pool and race track, shopping mall and garden with biosphere.
Here is my alpha:

What? You say this is ridiculous and that a piece of painted paper can not possibly do all that I said?
No worries, the model will improve over time.
This is SC/SQ42 in a nutshell.
