Spectrum talking about the bedsheet tech

I was really hoping for bedsheet tech so that I could buy SC as the sequel to Leisure Suit Larry in the Land of the Lounge Lizards.

For example, if a Vanduul knocks a player down that doesn’t recover quickly enough, they’ll be killed via a dramatic execution-style animation

FINISH HIM! FATALITY!

Progress was also made on a section of ‘cat-and-mouse’ gameplay with a marauding Vanduul. In this section, the Vanduul patrols around a room with low visibility while the player tries to avoid them, making as little noise as possible. If the Vanduul hears them, it will go into ‘investigation mode’ and check the area the sound came from.

Truly never been done before..... 1990.

Throughout April, AI Tech adjusted the AI behaviors and code to allow ships to correctly quantum travel out of planetary atmospheres. Previously, ships would think they were inside an obstacle and not correctly account for which direction would be best to radially leave the planet.

10 years, half a billion dollars.

And the whole thing...

"continued", "worked on", "investigated", "improvements", "started", "initial"

Anyone who thinks SQ42 is coming this year is off their rocker.

10 years, half a billion dollars.

The curious thing is, they are working on stuff, bedsheet's, that are entirely irrelevant to the game itself, I mean why do they need bedsheet deformation for the SQ42 storyline? The answer is, they don't and could easily leave it out and no-one would notice that omission, this is why the game keeps getting delayed again and again and will possibly never appear in a released form.

You have to wonder how often you will be in bed and for how long.

Surely after a mission or between them, there should be no need to go each time to bed and sleep or something. That sort of stuff is just annoying.

I could see as a respawn point, you fail a mission/die, respawn in bed, get out, start again. But how much work just so you can see the bedsheets have crumpled? And why, if its respawn and then get out, do you even need custom deformation. A static mesh would do and be no bleedin different for gameplay purposes.

Its just insanity.

The thing with the bedsheet tech is this, no-one will ever see it, it's all about NPC's when they go to bed and get up and how the bedsheets deform, because they want the NPC's to be just like players but worse, in game full time, locked in their room while not working, with deformable bedsheets that no player will ever see. I mean while you have theoretically hundreds of players walking around in bases and stations using server and PC resources, will there also be similar numbers of NPC's with deformable bedsheets, using up server and PC resources? I mean what game ever animates stuff like this that a player never sees? Why is it necessary to have deformable bedsheets for NPC's in locked rooms? Maybe hundreds of them? What madness is this?
If they get it right, we could be so immersed that after 3.5 hours of not touching the mouse or keyboard, maybe induce REM...our Space Citizen could dream of ship interiors in ED and a never ending thread, for a nice home like feel....then suddenly wake up, trapped in an incomplete star system, unable to go anywhere else, and you'd try your best to get back into that dream.

Daft question, I've started suffering intermittently from a bit of sound stutter (particularly in bigger ships/stations).Any idea if there's a known solution to this?
It's a new one for me...but it's probably caused by background asset streaming of some sort. If you haven't already, turn the in game music off, no idea if that'll make any difference but worth a try. 🤷‍♂️

When I'm at the cantina getting some chow so my in-game guy doesn't starve, what will the Taco tech look like to make the most of my experience?

There is Taco tech right?
There is indeed...or is it burrito tech?

...It's Mexican food anyway...or the virtual American Taco Bell equivalent, all lovingly hand crafted and pre-packaged by some Gringos in colourful aprons :)

When I bought one in game and asked the difference between a taco and a burrito, the vendor assured me that it was a taco since it had a crispy shell

Why do I get the distinct feeling that I've just offended at least one tortoise lover somewhere?...

Not sure why that SC / ED comparison keeps popping up (not directed at you personally here). SC is not just about resting one´s hopes and dreams. Those hopes and dreams have actually been fricking sold for almost half a billion dollars and still being sold as we speak with no delivery in sight. So far 10 years on and counting. Whereas in Elite they are, for the most part, only sold to you once they are ready and you even have the option of waiting for reviews, not liking it and even not buying it if you dont like what you see.
Personally I think SC and ED have way more in common than the binaries admit. ED has let me down in many of the ways people say SC has let them down, yet the same people praise and religiously defend ED and DB also have a Don Quixote / Captain Ahab need to villainize SC and CR on a daily basis, despite the glaring similarities and failings both games and companies share.

This binary "Elite is heaven, Star Citizen is hell, Braben is an angel, Roberts is a devil" stance some of you have just leaves me a bit baffled, that's all. It kinda reminds me of a certain sci-fi trope:

Claiming any game or dev is perfect is preposterous indeed, fully agree. As preposterous as claiming that ED upsets are as justified or comparable to SC’s, or as preposterous as claiming that Tesla delays amount to Theranos or Enron levels of deception.

You are in the SC thread, may I suggest you try to evaluate it in its own merits?

There is no binaries here. ED is released SC isnt. ED has procgen world - SC hasnt and wont. Is just how it is. We just have to underline it regularly because some idiots think they can make SC seem more than it is by twisting how things really are.
