Game Discussions Star Citizen Discussion Thread v12

8 freaking years.. My Gods.. Everyone I knew that was hyped about this game when it was first crowd funded has given up and moved on. I've given up checking the mail for my promised USB key fob.. My T-shirt wore out many years ago.. And I refuse to keep DL'ing multi-gig, bug riddled updates. After 8 years it's still a demo. If this was any other project ( aside from maybe a GOVT funded one like the SLS ), CR and other top MGMT would have long since been yanked and replaced.

It's approaching $400 billion dollars and 8 years.. they have NOT lacked for capital or talent ( $400 billion buys a ton of talent ). Nor have they lacked for time. If it is none of these things ( Time, Talent, or Money ) then it can only be poor management and lack of planning. I'm not inside CIG.. but I've worked as a consultant on enough multi-million dollar IT projects to recognize the stench of feature creep mixed with wretched overtones of mis-management. Think about this : SpaceX spent the same amount of time and money developing the Falcon 1, Falcon 9, and Falcon Heavy rockets, which have been flying for a while now.. ACTUAL ROCKET SCIENCE, and revolutionary rocket science at that, in a shorter period.

I'm of the "Wait and See" point of view. I'll wait until you have an actual game I can see. Not a demo. Not a "beta". Not a new feature. A freaking released, actual, playable as promised AAA game.

8 Years ago today it was successfully funded !!

How long did Theranos take to go belly up?

I give them 3 years to set up, try and realize it's not working. So 12 years of scamming, I thought it didn't go so long. We might see SC go on for a while longer. Until something busts.
The thing with Theranos is that their hype machine was of stratospheric proportions including endorsements and investors of the caliber of Henry Kissinger, George Schultz and even Rupert Murdoch (owner of the WSJ and which to his credit didnt hinder its investigations). This helped sustain the hype and positive public opinion for much longer than it probably should have.

By comparison CIG endorsements and current public view are "rookie numbers"...

You know when the celebs come out for investment endorsements it's time to get the hell out of it.

New big money concept ship coming soon

Jpegs - err, I mean textures! - are sold separately.

True! What makes a great game is a competent team with a clear vision. All the money in the world won't produce you a good game.

Oh well....

The new concepts are......a bit crap. One looks like an Anaconda wearing Space Battleship Yamato cosplay and the other is like a T-6 caught in some transporter accident with an Alliance Chieftain.

I'm quite fond of SCs designs (bar one) but these......no. If I had a wallet it would stay shut.

Yeah, when I spent all that money on hook... fine dinners and wine, I realised that money can't buy me love. :(

Ship capital signature detected

Well I got it :)

Ship Capital Income Expected will be the in game announcement for sure

From Miribot, source i think is Spectrum.

You suggest that they aren't informing backers what they are doing. This is incorrect. The goal of the new roadmap is to better inform people so that there is less confusion, as caused by trolls using inaccurate language.
Nice switch from inaccurate current tense, when they arent informing, to justification with future tense where they will inform coz they said they would then, wit ha nice twist of patronisation on the side and then a nice deviation / distraction (but no hesitation) into an insult and conspiracy theory that the game will fail to arrive if nasty people say its rubbish. All in one short post, points for economic use of vocabulary.
It's approaching $400 billion dollars
Thats the dream but its only 10% there yet at $400 Million, one day maybe, one day....
