Game Discussions Star Citizen Discussion Thread v12

Previously I had believed the project would never be successfully delivered, knowing about Genuine Cobblers track record.

However, when Erin joined I felt some optomism. Erin and his company with a record of delivered product, and also with him being 'part of inner the clan'. I really hoped that he could start getting the ship ship-shape.

And the sad news is, maybe he has. As best he can. As best is possible.

In mean time I'll stick with my $00.00 investment until the other 109 systems are finished and fleshed out. ymmv

That's where I was at - Erin had always seemed to be the one with a record of actually delivering stuff. I think I underestimated the extent to which being freed from the shackles of being required to actually release games by Chris absolving the entire company of that would infect his previously decent record for this.

As for Tony Z lol, it's just jobs for the boys isn't it? It's like a retirement home for all his old mates from Origin who didn't actually get to stay in the industry delivering, it's like track records end at the turn of the millennium.

As you say there is no compelling incentive to deliver the game whilst the money keeps coming in. In fact there is a perverse incentive to NOT deliver the game.

Unfortunately it's questionable whether, should the money dry up, there would be enough left to finish the game in any meaningful way, or pay for the requisite hosting.

The perfect loose-loose scenario.

Don't get me wrong, I'd love for SC and SQ42 to be delivered and be successful. It's just I can't see this happening. And I am very happy for those who already get enough fun out of what's already there to justify thier investments of both time and money.

Oh look. ED will have a new SRV! Finally!
No idea what it's doing on top of Alliance Crusader though. Or is it Alliance Chieftain? They all look the same to me.

P.S.
Guys, I've found the video! What we see here is actually how A New Lakon Ship is made!

Goons over on SA are making fun over how backers seem to be treating Tony Z as the new messiah of Star Citizen. Like CR he talks a good game, but his pedigree at delivering is... well, in this case, non-existent since 1996

EDIT

Here's a thread with some people fawning over him.

Now you understand why I'm not concerned about the project as long as Tony and Brian Chambers are still a part of the project.

I know there are a lot of very talented and driven devs at CIG but few give me hope in this project as much as Tony Z.

Tony Z has been a significant INFLUENCE towards Star Citizens legendary and top tier qualification and authentication of being the space sim sci-fi open-world masiveely-shared sandbox experience that it can be. Tony Z incentivizes Star Citizen into being the immersive interactive digital entertainment product that it is aiming to be.

I always look forward to hearing TZ, he literally is the brains behind the PU.

Again, they are talking about someone who hasn't led a game project since 1996. 25 years ago.

Aye, the one at Grim Hex is well broken...plenty of calls over chat to rescue folks trapped in it tonight :D
All elevators are potentially broken. Almost got stuck at A18 while trying to test a trade run (was unsuccessful, trade terminals are broken too). You can get inside, but the doors double up (know bug for many years..) so when your lift doors open, the ones in place are still there and closed.

Nah, they couldn't emerge at all...they were stuck.
And that, Ladies and Gentlemen, is why I laugh myself sick every time I visit this thread. :ROFLMAO: Scottish humour at its finest.

Gosh, I miss Stirling. Was there 24 years ago. Lovely place. Fantastic people. 'course, took me some time to get acquainted to how Scots speak English... the first time a bus driver talked to me (friendly fellow), I literally gaped at him. My English was already quite good back then, but I literally had no idea what he had asked. He saw my puzzlement and kindly repeated himself, more slowly, and I finally got it. Felt like a complete muppet.
