Game Discussions Star Citizen Discussion Thread v12

If SC is to be a good game, it needs to focus on mechanics that are fun, not bluesky idiocy.

What they have done with mining so far seems better than that long winded dreamcrafting thing CIG wrote about multicrew mining.

If medical stuff is kept simple and easy, then it should be fine. Just as long as they steer clear of the dreamcrafting of those who want to play Dr. Kildaire and expect people to lie prone for ages while they are collected, put onto the med bay, and wait while the doctor does his thing, and then wait to recover, etc.
Janet! Quick! Get Dr Finlay!

Apologies to non-Scots. Sadly(?), the Dr Finlay's Casebook theme park in Callander no longer exists.

A sad day indeed, can't remember what's there now since it's been a fair few years since I've been home...I say home...it was the nearest town to the hill farm I grew up on. No train station these days either. Beecher the butcher scrapped the local railway in 1963. My gran had a small bakery in the town...sold more shortbread than Crawfords up the road :)

Callander was also the birthplace of the oldest Dr. Finlay joke in existence...

"Dr Finlay...I've got a terrrible burning pain in my chest..."

"Well Janet, it would help if you took your b*obs out of my porridge."
Dr. Cameron, Dr Finlay and the infamous Janet...

my apologies.

figured someone in the star citizen sub forum would be able to back up their smack talk.

cheers!
If Sc hits beta 😉 but I think you will have lost interest on this game maybe you are to old at this time. But meanwhile you should buy an Idris to support this farce.

How many of the 630 people did it take to "develop" this concept art?

I don't know but I'm guessing it went through a few versions before it was approved.

Also I'm willing to bet that rather than have as a first pass, something that takes up your pistol inventory slot and has 5 charges that you can just point at another player and increase their health stat, they have something more elaborate in mind. You wouldn't want players to have something to get on with that they can just use easily, it's not in the "vision".

I thought that the surprise armor in 3.12 could be a mech utility armor. But lately some have suggests that this armor can be a support armor. More chance for this armor to be this one.

An old concept

As opposed to backpacks etc?
Would other people not wearing support armour not be able to carry healing/repair items or spare ammo?
It a classic class in a lot of FPS. You can do a lot in gameplay to give support advantage to support class. For instance, atm all armors in SC are very limited in the number of medipens.

Yes, typically because in those games characters have special abilities. SC is supposed to be regular humans in space. Why can't everyone carry the medical items?

I really dont think its the devs fault.

They have no idea what they are supposed to be doing, working on day to day, achieving, what the expectations are (dream and keep dreaming, one day we'll start programming), what the timeframes are (non existent), how their bit fits into anything else and probably spend a lot of time trying to fix the broken engine or make it work in the first place. Meanwhile they get swamped with new designs and 'put this in'.

Its a pure management issue, complete lack of business sense or knowledge, no timeframe, goal or end product that anybody knows about. No motivation to actually finish and the gravy train is too good right now to get down to work. Work is boring, Hollywood is calling. Dreams.txt

Imagine if they were your boss, you'd feel completely lost, undermined and stressed out as you want to achieve something and nothing ever finishes, youve got nothing you can point to and say 'I did that'. Youd have no targets and no measurement, you set your own but you have no control over it. People ask what you do and you say 'Im not sure', its complicated.

A lot of the devs are young or new, they are looking for mentors to guide them and set them up for life in the industry, they are young and ambitious and can do anything if they are pointed at it and steered. They are possibly the most misled of all the people in this saga.

The fact that they get defensive about their colleagues and attacks on their company is understandable, wouldn't you?

The finger of blame points squarely at one man, the fact that he tries to spread and share the blame by 'defending' his team is abhorrent and should be seen for exactly what it is.
