Game Discussions Star Citizen Discussion Thread v12

Don't be silly.
OMG, I was supposed to quote your post, this one:
I liked Sokiban though. Anyone remember that? Is what they tried in SC with cargo space but then a bottle fell on Little Ants head and now he talks funny. Fun aside: They couldn't make it because they only can guarantee box persistency on an area of about a little room. That is if they can manage to get the door logic right.
You could probably ask in From the Depths, Barotrauma or Factoria and Space Engineer forum - I'm sure there are clever players who figure that out.
So, the question stands :)

Tens of thousands of dollars on spaceships. Jeebus. Yeah, i know, people are free to spend whatever they want to spend their disposable income on. But i'm free to think they are bleeding idiots for it.

Also, love the immediate "other company bad" whataboutism. Doesn't matter if Games Workshop are a bad company, doesn't make CIG any better (or worse), they are not connected.

But for sure, those who bought into SC expecting a peaceful PvE experience (perhaps listening to CIG talking about 10 to 1 NPC ration indistinguishable from players (LOL) or the PvP slider) are probably going to be disappointed.

I would say (and pretend for a moment SC will one day release and be a good game) that this is a pretty good thing as we already have a space game (or games) that caters to those looking for a PvE experience, so something that caters to those looking for a more player conflict orented game without going full EvE might not be a bad thing.

Of course, a lot depends on how the mechanics are ironed out over the coming years and decades and whether backers keep the funding going long enough to make a proper release (ie: one that is no longer dependent on pledges).

Also, downvote brigade hard at work i see.

Trading sure makes for pretty views

I will be attempting to do some trading in 3.14 today! Wish me luck! Sure hope I will not be scammed with insufficient stock...
They sorted the stock levels out a few weeks ago with a hotfix...trading on the live servers is working again :)

Not really. Destroy one ship, break it down into a single persistent and multiple disappearing chunks at first. One-for-one exchange. Salvage was supposed to be in in 2017, in the meantime CIG made multiple maneuvers around cramming more into the 'verse for other purposes. Or are you trying to say four years were not sufficient to improve the serves enough to store the position of, say, a thousand additional objects? This is a minuscule amount of data.
For what I know of salvage as CIG want it (from dev talks and other) :

- it concerns all destroyed ships on a server (Players and NPC). All those wrecks must persist a certain amount of time (not the case now, they are removed from the server rapidly). If you kill a constellation NPC ship on a mission, your must be able to go to the wrecksite later and salvage it.
- corpses+equipment and ship's cargo must persist (a lot of boxes floating in space).
- they want us to be able to recover non damaged components.
- they want us to be able to salvage scrap metal. As we know CR, he certainly wants all big broken pieces of the ship to stay on the wreck site (no vanishing of a full wing).

So my guess is, just for the boxes floating in space the number of entities to keep persistent will be significant.

I wonder if Mole has re-subscribed to get hold of the latest suit? Chonky :)

Nah...nice hazmat suit, comes in 3 flavours... but I won't be spending anything more on subscriptions or subscriber flair for the foreseeable future, I also melted all my other cosmetic armours and subscriber flair for store credit due to Ci¬G's idiocy regarding ownership and theft of cash purchased cosmetic items :)

Ideally this is the point of the law system. People look at it right now and don't realize it's still incomplete. A place like Stanton won't be a playable space for a criminal player. The moment they come out of QT, any law-NPC in the area will immediately know about them and jump to their location (thanks to the Comm Arrays).

Hah, pure dreams.txt

I think you have the right of what CIG want to do. Whether this is what they will do, as always, remains to be seen.

You might remember quite a few years ago CIG had ships exploding and dropping contents which absoloutely slaughtered the framerate and killed servers.
