I'd like to know what shills think about Diablo Immortal...

It just demonstrates that Robbers only manages to create dysfunctional studios. Turbulent is the norm - CIG is the fraud. One has to wonder what the 900+ people at CIG are actually doing.
Still a long way from everything they said was coming though.... Farming, Salvage, Pyro....

Oh Tony...
We're now in early stage testing to allow Quantum to start pushing the first few bits of simulated data out the door and start impacting the game, and we expect to go live with these efforts later this year. The first stones in the virtual AI foundation were laid long ago, but it's only been within the past couple of months as engineering resources rolled off of some other major initiatives that the implementation efforts really started to take off. This technology will allow VNPCs the freedom to operate and evolve independently of player actions and open up all sorts of new gameplay possibilities. Bounty Hunter v2 will be the first feature to exploit virtual AI but it's really just the tip of the iceberg.
Tony, Tony, Tony

That iceberg sure is buried deep...
All in the game already:Still a long way from everything they said was coming though.... Farming, Salvage, Pyro....
Ouch, "long-distance" probing sounds painful, but you gotta do what you gotta do, maybe with a bit of lubricant it just goes smoother and I'm sure the gullibers are quite used to it.I do like this ShinyTracker site...
The official Round Up only mentions the Room System stuff getting pushed. But it seems this got dumped too:
Which made me peek at other 'Quantum' related stuff. And yep, shuffled off into the long grass too...
Ah well. I'm sure Tony's used to it by now...

Modules will likely start coming online ‘in game’ after Arena Commander 2.0 launches; we do not have a specific date or patch to announce yet.
John Crewe said:The stopping point has always been, up until now, and still a little bit now, that everything inside an object container can't talk to the vehicle that it's within. Which has stopped like Retaliator modules from progressing, because we needed to have the missile launchers inside the object container, so it could all be swapped out with the entire bay.
But we've got the groundwork for that now. Next quarter we can hopefully do a little bit more.
John Crewe said:So we need to make those items be part of the object containers and swap in and out. And the work for that is actually scheduled in the upcoming quarter. Whether it's going to release that quarter is not for me to say.
John Crewe said:The tech for having swappable rooms... It is on the schedule for early next year... It was blocked by moving some of our data from loose XML into our own data forge format, so it could tie in with other systems...
The Retaliator's will be the the first ones to have it proved out, because we have all the assets all there waiting and ready. And then once that's done, been in the game for a cycle, and we've found any issues with it, we can start going and look at the other the other ships with that that sort of stuff.
John Crewe said:In the near future we are putting, uh, the Vehicle Tech Team on actually doing the tech to allow this and we're going to start with the Retaliator.
John Crewe said:Uh, so, it is it is still planned. Uh, though I say this every time that people ask me, uh, it's still planned...
The big thing is, it's quite a, there's a core tech blocker on it. Which is, uh, item port system, uh, needs to work within object containers...
The problem it has at the moment is object containers assume some sort of level of, they are static. They're not dynamic. They can't, object containers themselves can't move, and they really don't like being deleted and undeleted at runtime. And the item port system within those would have to dynamically attach and detach. So, we use the Retaliator as the really good example for this and when we have this in it will be the first ship that gets the modularity in game.
The Retaliator bomber modules need the item ports for the torpedoes to be placed within the object containers, which the object container itself will be in an item attached to the ship. And we need the game to be able to read those detach and undetach events, and link all the power and missile controllers to the items within those object containers. Because at the moment those torpedo items are actually part of the exterior ship CGA[?] to make them work.
So whilst we could do the modularity right now you would never be able to get rid of those torpedoes in the ship. Um so you would swap out the room and... you just have these four size nine torpedoes shoved in the room at the same time as well.
So what we're waiting on is the Vehicle Tech Team to work on that dynamic detection retouching of item ports in object containers in items attached to ships. It's just a horrible nesting problem and when we have that in, the world's our oyster. We can, it's, that's the only thing stopping us from rolling it out.
John Crewe said:The people that are best suited to doing it are unfortunately the people that are looking at Server Meshing. Because they're ironically the people that made the object containers and a lot of the original pipe system code.
John Crewe: Uh yep, still planned. Um again, like the, the answer I gave earlier, the people working on it were reprioritized onto other Squadron work, so, uh, no progress since I last talked about it.
Why does John Crewe look like he wants to die anytime someone mentions the Endeavor?
Blast from the Past: Modularity
TLDR: It still isn't in because the relevant teams are working on Server Meshing. And Theatres of War. And Squadron 42. (Please enjoy your Cutlass variants in the meantime...)
