State of the Game

Yup. I have never quite got my head around this either. I get the ethics and if you don't want to eat bacon, well don't eat it.

However when meat can be grown, then I guess it's all fair game.

it's there to ween people off meat or make the non-meat eating lifestyle of people feel more "normal" amongst the meat happy society they live in.

because eating meat is natural for us, and like any biologically evolved urge that we have and dont want to have, there's a lot of self trickery involved in trying to stop that urge - especially if you have succumbed to it or see others doing it around you.

edit: the fakon that is. Lab grown meat is going to be a different quandary though because it wont be about ethics, but about health. As with anything we eat, some studies show that certain meats just aren't healthy to eat regularly. And that for a super long healthy life, the science seems to point to low calorie plant based diets being better.

I have tried something similar, out of curiosity but, I have to say, it doesn't taste like bacon: it tastes like bacon flavoured crisps.

Which I find even sadder than the whole concept of vegan products mimicking meat products.

Apologies for my inconsequential and relatively serious post, I have realised that I want to hit my 100th post on this thread (yes, I know, I don't really fit in here) but I am not there, yet. :(
The truth has to be said though. And I feel the same. Especially since bacon is totally overrated.

And that vegan hipster stuff - what's so hard in accepting a kale stew with mettwurst when all you need to da as vegan is just leave the mettwurst away?! Entitled hipsters - they don't get their way, they complain. They should just get the whole bowl of kale stew thrown in their face, but nooooo that wouldn't be funny anymore.
