Station near Sag A* is here.

Thanks CMDR, as it happens I will have some free time which coincides with this CG, so may well be able to really get involved, which will be cool. I am currently in a Krait Phantom without any mining gear, I find myself contemplating having my trusty mining Python transferred from the bubble, there's a way to blow some of that VO wealth!

The new station doesn't (yet) have a shipyard, providing the station with facilities is the whole point of the CG. The best I could do was preposition ships (and myself) at Colonia, but it's still eleven thousand lightyears from there to Sag A.

There will however be enough Outfitting at the new station to refit your Phantom as a miner. If I were you that's what I'd do. Be careful to store rather than sell your current modules!

Ah... got it! Well, saves a 3 day wait for the Python. Many thanks CMDR, 07.

aye i was hoping to ship my Orca here to get some mining done, but ill make do with a refinery and basic laser fitted to my dolphin, may even give sub surface a blast depending on the CG

Great it make Elite Dangerous even easier.

Such a silly post.. whaa whaa whaa make Elite easier.... whaa whaa you know what is going to happen now I know it's there I'm going to travel to it to see it.. that's called content of sorts and I can;t wait to go and see it.. This game makes playing it like work at the best of times I'm happy there's a station there makes me itchy to get the explorer out again

+rep this. Its great to finally have a station in the core instead of them all in bubble and near Colonia. the game needs more content like this, not less :)

On DW1(the original expedition) we left the bubble for Beagle Point and amassed lots of carto data. The first chance we got to sell that data was.....when we got back to the bubble.
In those days explorers were explorers, not this hand holding namby pamby safe exploration that we have today.
(p.s. I am loving DW2 but feel no pressure regarding my ship's health) :)

I'm doing the entire DW2 trip without docking at a station until I arrive back in the bubble. :)

Edit: I'm also fully scanning every system along the way.

Thank Randomius they at least have a civil war in there. You know who Dawnlight Core Mining Operations really are if you've ever visited Marco Qwent.

Can't believe anyone's fussing about a temporary lack of opportunity to sell data, when it's barely ten thousand light years from Colonia. You're so desperate to offload your data? Go there. Don't want to get shot at when entering the new station? Enter it in solo.

Heaven's sake. Did FD realise that they were setting up an opportunity for PvP/gank/etc types to shoot at unarmed explorers? Of course they did. It's part of the game. Players get to shape it their own way, as is the normal Elite manner. Just as we get to put the station together next week (or the week after, whenever).

Stop asking for your hand to be held. Take responsibility for however you want to play your game. And pop round the corner to Colonia if you need to. But stop complaining.

Anyone know what kind of facilities this station will have once it is operational? The tiers went through the roof on the first phase, way more than any other station the community has built.

To be fair, and in my opinion of course, the "challenge" of exploration once you learn the basics was pretty well done away with since plotting for scoopable stars became a thing – mental endurance not withstanding.

I just hope it doesn't get ship transfer and shipyard nor turn into Bubble Mk III.

Thats what i would like to know also, as the right thing is to know from before the CG starts. I doubt they will tell us, or they will decide at the last moment.

Fairly certain the other stations only had a single CG, Obsidian Orbital has poor facilities because hardly anyone took part. Will be interesting to see how this turns out, from phase 1 results this station should be packing everything a cmdr needs once completeted.

Once route planning range was increased (and the time to calculate was cut down considerably), exploration became a lot easier. In the core, you used to have to manually select jump points. Now you can easily set a 20,000ly leg almost instantly.

As for what the station will have, no one knows yet. I think CG2 is to determine what services will be available. The outfitting might only be temporary due to the CG.

Yep will be interesting to see if there will be the same great participation as the first CG, now that this will be even more far away. I think it will be massive :)

AHHHH I remember those days, nothing but a bucket of spit and a roll of duct tape to keep the ship together. The good old days They was, just two polystyrene cups and some string for ship to ship communication and none of this drone malarkey doing it all for you OH NO NO NO you wanted to mine you had to get out of the ship with your pick and chip it off the asteroid yourself. They just don’t know how easy it is these days I be telling thee.

Don't forget the inability to fix a crack in the canopy and frequent jumps that would send you in-between two big stars
