This is a Freedom Class Surveyor. I guess it's meant to stay in space indefinitely without a supply line and go places no one went before to prospect planets for settlement and exploitation. Everything you need in one big ship.

It was a good night for exploration -- jumped into a previously undiscovered system with a G-type star and found an earth-like and water world orbiting each other within the habitable zone! It made my day! (I'm sharing this image from Steam, which I normally don't do, so let me know if it's not visible to you).
