Strange sounds coming from my Anaconda

I recognise this sound. When you take a mission that brings you down to a planet (salvage goods for the most part), the poi the mission gives you isn't the actual location. When you get close enough to it, it'll attempt to triangulate a more precise location. And that right there is the sound that plays during that "location update".

So yea, this is indeed a bug that even I have encountered on numerous occasions. And it bugs the HELL out of me!

I don't know if it's encoded message or just a bug, but either way I've decided I should record it before "solving" it by restarting my game.
I can hear this occasionally when I drop out of SC or retract my hardpoints, but on the station it seem to happen each time I do the latter.
The pattern repeats itself 3 times and is coming from somewhere behind main panel.
I have been hearing this sound for a long time, well over a year at this point, long before FCs. For me it occurred after boarding my ship (DBX) following a jaunt in my SRV. Other instances were after DSS'ing ringed T & Y brown dwarves, backing out of the DSS screen.

Chalked up to 'space madness', I thought it had something to do with rescue pods in the area, because to me part of the sound seemed like a garbled message saying something like 'help me'.

You're the first person I've heard mention and question this... so, I'm either sorry your sick with Space Madness, or I'm very happy to find I'm not. ;)

This sound has been a thing plaguing CMDRs since 3300, I've experienced it before especially when dropping out to a station or landing into a system out of witchspace. I have no idea what this sound is, or if it's a "bug" at all.

The sound itself isn't a bug, but it shouldn't be playing in most circumstances, or be that loud.
What is this sound supposed to be anyway? It's a mystery. I know what sounds go where, but this sound is so random that I don't know what to make of it

As Red the Pirate mentions it's the "searching" sound for surface mission POIs. It might also be the same sound as the old level 2/3 planet/current non-DSS scans. It's just really loud and has some extra reverb in the OP's recording.

Oh yea, I remember that old sound now. Back in the days where you had to manually fly to a body and face it to even get it scanned.
