Stutter Stutter Stutter since 1.3 - near stations, asteroids, and pretty much anything that has a model and collision

I haven't found this near stations, but I have found this on all systems I have visited on uncharted space, I am exploring to the center of the galaxy and there is not a single sistem where the game stutters.

This is so fantastically odd, I left inhabited space to get away from the stutters and ever since I did I have ZERO stutters around planets I mean zip.. Yet in the inhabited bubble I had horrible game stopping stutters everywhere. Since the game is so smooth now like it was back in 1.2 I may never come back.. lolz..

I had a typo, there isn't a single system that does not stutters x(

I've just tried switching on V-sync and frame rate limiting (60Hz) while turning of 'blur', all in the game options... and all my stuttering went away. Happy days :)

I have V-Sync ON to best work with Facetracknoir. I will try Blur OFF next. It does stutter even in SOLO existing/entering stations and in RES. Not so in Combat Zones.

I have been getting very bad stuttering around stations and turreted weapons, not consistently but usually doesnt happen until after about 30 mins of game time.

Just a quick update, still out 4k from the inhabited bubble and absolutely zero stutter when approaching a planet even a full speed flyby. So my stutters so far appear to be in populated systems. Not sure if this helps much but it is very enjoyable to fly right now.

Thanks for *lurking* Michael :)

Both me and two friends have not only been getting major stuttering in RES's, we are all now getting crashes-to-desktop somewhat frequently in them as well. We do send the error reports. We also have had no crashes at all that we can even remember...prior to 1.3+ that is...

So I tested the game again today, in the basic ship combat training mission when stationary and yaw with the mouse and leave my ship spinning, I get 1 second of judder every 8 seconds. This is with SLI Titans and an i7 4790 at full settings 60FPS 4k with Vsync on.

I was getting 40% GPU utilization on each card, and 16.7ms frametime without any drops.

I can confirm that switching PhysX to CPU removes some stutter. I think the micro stutter is nearly gone, still testing.
edit 2: if i asign PhysX to GPU it's the same effect... or maybe it was just my imagination -.-

Stuttering during station approach and while inside station docking has decreased.
Still have occasionally stutter in SC.
-back to further testing-

I'm not satisfied yet.
I want to enjoy ED stutterfree. Please Frontier help us CMDRs out there. Thanks.

My System:
i5 3.2Mhz @ 3.4 to 3.6Mhz
GTX 770 2GB
Nvidia driver 353.30, switched PhysX to CPU (instead of automatic)

edit:
after playing some time the stuttering got worse...
I tried running VLC in the background, but the stuttering remains after closing VLC

Interesting I suddenly started getting crash to desktops during the 1.3 beta and I had been playing the game for over a year on the same hardware with no prior crashes of this type. On a hunch I updated to later audio drivers for my mobo and the Crash to desktop problem went away.
I am still getting some stutters though

I found out that the stuttering inside a station during landing pad approach is triggered by giving input, like decreasing throttle or activating the landing gear. As soons as i press the button the game "lags".

I have really hard stuttering if i´m super cruisin.
I´ve tested so far...

1. HT off -> no changes
2. CPU Physx -> no changes
3. Shaderwarming off -> no changes
4. max. prerendered frames "1" in nV CP -> no changes
5. work per frame 192 & 160 -> no changes
6. Planet texture size down to 1024 -> no changes
7. V-Sync on/off, G-Sync -> no changes

Every time if there is a hickup the frames drops down from 120 to 30-80fps and the GPU Usage drops also from 90% to 30%. I think there is a big failure in their game engine :( I hope they can find a solution!

If you guys want a fast but not so good solution to the stuttering, try completely disabling shadows.
Yea have done that as well, also it significantly sped up the Galaxy Map when doing this.

Interesting. This may be valuable info for FD. Maybe there are some underlying issues with how shadows are being rendered? Wonder if it has anything to do with the shader pre-caching...

ALSO! I wonder if this is why RES's seem to be the biggest offender of stuttering. Lots and lots of shadows being rendered in a RES...

Hopefully a QA team member is keeping an eye on this thread...

Hi all, please make sure to post any bug reports on our 'Bug Reporting' discussion section. QA team checks the bug reporting section daily and we also have a list of Known Issues, stuttering being one of them.

I look forward to talking to you all there. :)

(Nvidia GTX 770)

what I just tried:

I set my ANTI-ALIASING down to MLAAX4
(PhysX to CPU, all other to "optimized for ED" in GeForce Experience)

I enjoyed stutter free gaming for about 20+ mins now... (tested in SOLO mode)
Ok the graphics look a bit scrappy now... (immersion is not really there) but at least this could be one hint what causes the stuttering for Nvidia users!
The ONLY stuttering I still get is when I'm exiting SC to a station, but much much better than before! [and ofc it stutters during HS, but this is normal i guess)

edit: have not tried RES so far

edit 2:
agfter some 100 jumps I find it starts to micro stutter again... :-(

Thats really good to know but the big question is, can you fix it because its an issue since gamma or something like that and till now it isnt fixed. I think you guys should upgrade your engine developer team or go in discussion with nVidia and AMD to work out a fix which solve the stuttering for once and for all!!!

As it has been a while, I will need to re-test, narrow down when/where I have stutter and then will report in. Thank you Jonny!
