As I mentioned in my previous post, if you don't want this to happen again you need to shift the balance of power away from third party middlemen and regain control over your own playerbase. You need to work on integrating the functions of many of these tools into the game proper so that they can't be held hostage to get your attention again, and so that the rest of us don't have to bounce around google for half an hour to just to find where to get a particular module or rock.
Yes they put a lot of effort into these things, but remember that nobody asked them to, and they only exist as a reaction to the dearth of information available in-game. Ultimately they should not need to exist, but they do because of the shortcomings of the game design. Resolve that and threads like this won't be a recurring issue.
This!
Get back to make this game
great instead of adding features that
"sells the game", where players then discover they need to spend more time
outside the game to do things
in the game.
I am here to stay, as I have proclaimed in another thread, but seeing how much these third party tools are needed in order to play the game, I would argue that the game lacks a whole lot of features. I would rather see that you, FD, start to think about how to implement these things into the game, rather than adding fancy features and forcing us, the playerbase, to use forums, web-based applications and other tools in order to have fun in the game.
From a financial point of view, you are doing the right thing to support these third party developers; you don't have to develop these things yourself and make them work in the game. But, as a VR player, most of the third party tools just doesn't work.
Take controll of Your game, and have this thread as a reminder of what people need,
in the game, not
outside the game. Work towards a goal which should be;
The less third party developers we need, the better our game will become!
This is in no way a diss towards the third party developers who have contributed TONS. I do thank you ALL very much... but the end goal here should really be that "third party developers are not needed".
Until that happens though, I will support all third party developers I use, because without them, Elite: Dangerous is a fairly dead game.
