Thargoid FPS (with Drones) in Update 15 - Preview Footage

I'm keen on the settlement power on thing (the Thargoids in space/maelstrom stuff just doesn't do it for me) but I worry that these drone whatsits may be rather hard to take down. Perhaps if we had a new engineer in U15 that gives us new gun upgrades...

... that utilise all those Xeno-Defence Protocols and AX Combat Logs we've been saving up :D

By the way, do we have any confirmation on if Thargoids know about humanity in the sense of individual humans flying the ships with different motives? I was under the impression they don't seem to really comprehend individuality in other lifeforms.
Maybe that could work to our advantage, you know, confuse the heck out of them.

revenant

Borrowing fron the French present participle of the verb revenir (to return).
It means one coming back either from another place or from the dead.

Also the title of a 2015 movie The Revenant.
Might explain why they were after all of those escape pods.

I agree on the need for more powerful gun. I'd say something along the lines of a Chuck Norris MK II - all one needs to do is just point it at the Target and the target will die out of fear of Chuck Norris. Saves on ammo too.

There is a little option switch on it called roundhouse kick that delivers a blow to the creature's head should it ever come into play.

Until we unlock guardian gauss rifles, of course 😉
I've never been a fan of thargoid combat due to the huge entry level requirements and the combat itself is pretty faffy. No idea if any of that has changed with the recent updates but I doubt I'll ever bother with it. But if they introduced on foot thargoid content then I'd be happy to work towards getting thargoid specific weaponry and suits. It would bring me back to the game, no doubt. I'm not sure these drones will, though.

If Frontier ever actually add on foot Thargoids then it will be the same thing. Nothing will live up to what some players have built their own expectations of them to be, and so many people want different things from them.

Having the AI set up so it doesn't try to chase the player under a covered area that the craft doesn't look like it would be able to fit in, is obviously a conscious decision. And this thread alone has shown that some people like the perimeter style and some don't. Damned if you do, damned if you don't :)

As J said, if none of this had of been revealed and people had of discovered it for themselves when taking one of these new missions, then I imagine the impact of it would have been a lot higher. Seeing a small piece of curated footage with no idea when it was taken, or what else is involved in the missions/scenarios means people jump to conclusions.

But what do I know :) I don't even do combat, none of the stuff that's been revealed holds any interest to me from a gameplay point of view. From an aesthetic point of view I love it. I will just have to hope there's more for me in this update than the last.

Sorry mate, but i see it very differently. The addition of a non-bipedal alien race that is hostile (or friendly) would add a lot more to the game than just reskinned skimmers.

I'm sure no small number of us, by the way, had to read on for quite a bit, on order to assertain that the chosen word: "drone" referred to is as a construct, and not the other contextually relevant meaning... :7

I think people actually want to see the little thargoid alien insects face to face...understandable. I can see why people are a bit "meh" about the drones. I see both sides of the discussion.
Thing is ... why Thargoids should use something so obsolete like legs? It imo doesn't make any sense.

Audio masking is a mod which comes handy outside if one want there silently shot down a stuff. Noise reduction comes handy inside of building, but for silent fight inside is imo ideal shotgun (intimidator).
