Thargoid Interactions

I heard the interceptors have hollow tubes with a blood-like subtstance, to explain the pics of the petal. The whole thing is like a starfish (lol get it, star-fish?)

BTW, I was playing on PS4, in a harmless hauler packing 2 TSs. Got hyperdicted, pulsed down, and the goid just left. It didn’t care at all.

Thargoid hunters, there's a thing I'd like to humbly request that you notice during your encounters.

When you're playing with Thargoids and there's two or more together, can you please screenshot/video if you find an identical match (i.e. Two different ships in the same encounter have identically the same logogram).

I've not been able to find anyone yet that found this match.

If the logograms/ships are random in encounters, then it's highly likely that somewhere down the line we'll see "twinsies".

Thanks!

Just got Hyperdicted by two Thargoids (LCU your EDMC plugin was great, it seemed to collect it all just fine).

I found a NHSS, no Thargoid present, but I scooped the TP that was there. Before I scooped it I honked it.

Less than 5 jumps later I got hyperdicted, as soon as I drooped out before the EMP pulse I jettisoned the probe.

One Thargoid hovered near me (no scan), the other scooped the probe. Then they both left.

For me, this is a direct correlation between the Probe and the Hyperdiction. I've not been hyperdicted for weeks, yet the only difference today was honking the probe.

I've honked the probe before, but got no hyperdictions. However the 1st time I got hyperdicted (in 2.3) I had just picked up a UA (T sensor)!

I think it's more likely you picking it up triggered it, although that's no guarantee it will happen.

In my experience I don't think there's anything you can pick up or do (except jump around, reinstance etc.) to increase chances of interdiction. Back in 2.2 I was interdicted a couple of times. And in 2.3 I was interdicted immediately after changing ships on two seperate occasions (the first jump I made on changing ships both time) - within a day of eachother (didn't try to get interdicted either).

Something that appears to (can just be bias) increase chances is travelling out of and back into the interdiction bubble around the Pleiades.

I just went to see two of the new INRA bases - when I came back to the Pleiades bubble, I got hyperdicted by three Thargoids.

So I wonder if their concern during hyperdiction is like a "military stop" by human NPCs in war zones. I was attacked after a hyperdiction and scan while just having AX weapons on a passenger Beluga. I was also hyperdicted in a weaponless hauler with two sensors and they let me go.

The Beluga thing has me wondering some other things, mostly not serious.

  • Maybe they are attacking ships made by manufacturers tied to past conflict with or financiers of INRA/Aegis/etc.
  • Fish are commonly found among thargoid/human crash sites, to add to the ocean theme. Aquatic life sounds, star-fish interceptors, fish barrels, KoS for Belugas. What does it all mean?
  • Maybe they don't like whales. A lot of their stuff sounds like whales and dolphins, I'd sure be annoyed with more showing up and might blow it away for kicks.

By the way, has anyone given Hafnium or SAP 8s to the goids yet?

Is Hafnium even in the game? I don't remember seeing it.........

Anyway, re your Hyperdiction in the Beluga. Are you absolutely sure you weren't dropped to within 500m of them? Or post scan get within 500 of them? And that you weren't carrying Meta-alloys, Thargoid sensors/probes or uplinks?

Btw, don't sound like whales to me, more like Chewbacca ;) (spelling?), which IIRC his sounds were from a camel.

What's odd about the sounds, whether they sound like Wookies or whales is that that's not what Thargoids sound like, at all.

Out of the Darkness has extensive descriptions of the Thargoids, the last 1/5 of the book takes place in a Thargoid space station. The sounds they make are a "chittering clicking" sound - and humans can learn it. And they can understand human language.

So... anyone want to hazard a guess why the 'Thargoids' we meet sound like whales and Wookies? And why they don't literally just say "give us back our stuff two-legs"

I think the sounds we get from the goid ships are the sounds of their scans, and as we “haven’t seen a Thargoid yet” we don’t have any experience of their chittering; however sometimes on planets you get a background noise which does sound like chittering/clicking. Some people have tried to track it down but had no success (at least they didn’t come back to tell us, perhaps their brains are now piloting flowerships [alien][alien][alien])

ps We dont have a collective noun for many Thargoids (e.g. pod of whales, flock of seagulls), so I propose a “Chitter” of Thargoids
