Thargoid invasion - Next target systems?

I am hearing that rescue ship movements are afoot for the 19th - at least one I'm told of so far, Cornwallis headed for V886 Centauri (not sure which system it currently is in). As are the Musashi (Azimuth megaship currently positioned in Xi Wangda) and one of the various Sirius ones. The aforementioned system is also quite close to Shinrarta Dezhra... it would be interesting to see the reaction to Thargoids going out to have a poke at that system.

Assuming this odd bunching up of ships is not just a Frontier oopsie and they were meant to scatter into separate locations. A coreward destination for a rescue megaship, nowhere near one of the Titans, does seem odd though, does it not... I will investigate in a short moment, once in the game.

Hearing from where? I know that some Megaships have a thingy to scan which reveals their itinerary, but either way it would be great to know the source!

Screenshots from within the game shared in a discord server - currently checking myself but the information suggests Cornwallis is the only rescue ship to move.

Okay—V has just checked it out and sent this:

Not all Rescue megaships are moving—Yoshida in Cornsar has no such message, for example!

As I was saying. I double checked all of them and it appears correct that only Cornwallis is moving. Plus :

Though, what Sirius (former) and Azimuth (latter) are planning to do over there, I'm not sure... it's probably not to compete for the Alliance's attention in a system that couldn't have less of the Alliance's presence in there if it tried. This has also resulted in an interesting situation where 10 factions are in a single system... but for whatever reason instead of Azimuth the Tamaya Empire Group has appeared in V886.

Will also quickly poke our remaining two Titans while at it, but don't expect to see much there.

I know this might sound a bit weird, but has anyone checked the old Eagle Eye Network?

Mind you we haven't heard anything from Seo Jin-ae for a while!

Just out of curiosity, for anybody that might've been near a Titan for this week, do either of the two active ones seem a bit... jumpy?

I was near Cocijo on Thursday for a bit and observing it from the asteroid belt with a heat level at around 16%, just observing it still got upset at something even when I was not near any Thargoids/had none on sensors, except for the caustic seed mines. Although I don't know if those play any role in Titan aggro or detection, either. Can't have been another player cause I was in solo, and I don't recall them acting like this prior. Possibly tied to heat vent opening but it did not always coincide with it, occasionally having the Titan go red when the sound preceding the vents opening was only/still in the buildup phase.

Also did not attempt to recover any pods, which could have explained Titan alertness - I was purely there to look around a bit.

Yesterday, for the first time since Thursday, I logged into the game and was surprised.
There were almost as many systems as before. About 80. I don't get it, is this the attack described in the news?

T. Raijin seems fairly happy despite losing its regular Spire treats for now—no turrets deployed, Scouts leaving it occasionally, Interceptors poking around for items, and the little glowing lines moving out and in as it heats up and cools down.

Interceptors can notice Commanders visually and seem to cause a small amount of Titan alarm, perhaps due to being unable to identify what it has found; not enough alarm to provoke turrets, but enough that the Titan makes what I presume is an all-clear noise later.

If you mean the system totals on the Galaxy map, note that it updates only on Thursdays, at the start of each weekly cycle! Completed systems will remain part of that total until next week.

Note also that it includes Control and Invasion:
  • T. Raijin reported 94 systems last week, which was 91 Control and 3 Invasion.
  • T. Raijin reports 80 systems this week, 77 Control and 3 Invasion.

I know about Thursday, last week I thought the systems were 85 and I expected about 40 after Thursday and was surprised it was 80.
You write that there were 94 and still 80, I think that's less progress than usual.

Indeed! That follows a combination of:
  • Only having half a Spire site available.
  • Frontier noticing high progress and responding by increasing the system strength with a massive amount.
  • Frontier noticing later the power of Titan rescues and limiting them to affect 15 systems at most, thus ending most of the interest in doing it at all.
  • Leaving the system strengths at their high amount.
They have not learned from 3309—very small changes can influence the pace smoothly, whereas these large upward changes cause Commanders to wait for the inevitable downward change later, yielding the same long-term pace but with less total time spent to achieve it. Commanders are clever enough not to strike while the metaphorical iron is cold!

Didn’t seem like a small amount of alarm to me - it just went from green to red immediately several times and while I wasn’t close enough to see turrets on sensors - or visually - the fact that it quickly sent Scouts into the asteroids to poke for the disturbance even when there was nothing on sensors some/most of the times Cocijo got upset at thin air, was telling. Or at least there wasn’t anything (except caustic mines) within 5 kilometers to visually notice my ship idling, and never any attempts to directly investigate my chosen observation positioning. I chose to change it anyway and the Titan seemed less likely to get annoyed following that.

Did not notice anything particularly out of the ordinary observing the leaving Thargoids, however. Seemed to be the usual mix of Orthrus and Cyclops with occasional bigger variants, and mostly Orthrus (plus a few Scythes) coming in.

Is the spire at Col 285 Sector YT-F B12-2 just dead or am I in some sort of bugged instance?

Col 285 Sector YT-F B12-2 was cleared as a Matrix system in week 48, then attacked again unopposed in week 65, and has been a normal Control system ever since week 66. I think Frontier changed manually some similar M. Indra systems to reinstate their Spire sites, but did not look around for the same thing elsewhere!

They did manually reactivate the spire in Hyades Sector DX-H a11-1 following the realization that the Thargoids were trying to be clever and had the site shut off despite retaking the system. Progress in the location was retroactively applied to some other peripheral system, as I recall.

2 titans, 3 spires and lot of control systems.
I'm going to find something else to do... See what Thursday brings...

Hopefully, something to switch up affairs more than just a little from the routine stripping of Titan controls and blowing them up for 2-3 days (or slightly less than two if Hadad is counted).

I do wonder what their planned timeline for it all is because at this rate and/or if spires are not recaptured frequently or at all through abandoning other controls - which could still be an act manually performed by Frontier - Raijin might not even be vulnerable at the start of October. Should those recaptures occur, however… then maybe.

Pod rescues being made less potent definitely also seems to have made an impact toward slowing things down after the 38 control clearance week. I was going to do a little more of that, but… eh… maybe just not that motivated, sometimes the loop gets annoying when you can barely get two chambers emptied and collected without a Thargoid interrupting and having to beeline it to the other side or the asteroids every time. Also been a bit slower on the Elite things the last few weeks anyway, bar a minor BGS endeavor.

O7 Commanders! I don't know if this is the best place to ask this, but I think it is better than creating a new topic. I have been out of the game since the Mailstorms where travelling towards the bubble. I remember that there were events from time to time about defending systems from thargoids, which meant that a big part of the community was in the system fighting in AX conflict zones. I remember it was such a nice experience, so I would like to know if now, with this thargoid invasion, there is some kind of "agreement" in the community to defend specific systems, as I would like to go into crowded AX conflict zones again to kill some thargoids.

So, my question is... what is the next target system? Where is the community focusing on? I've read the last comments in this thread but I don't get anything clear.

Thanks in advance!
