that crime system..

Trust me, you do not want to go down the ad'hominem attacks with me.

Goody for you

So computer controlled NPCs are less aware of the area than the player. Do you know anything about software development and artificial intelligence?

I'm glad you got to use your crayons. Now! Yes I have been in real combat zones, and unlike you, I do know how to handle weapons. This is a game with a crime system that is so far off the mark it's crazy. I see your combat rank is way below mine, on all of my accounts, so I'm sure you know the term... 'scrub' <o

1: If you wish no ad hominems in return you might want to leave them out yourself. "Armchair warriors" and all that, coupled with flagrantly misstating how the game mechanics work.
2: Yeah I know a bit about it, given my time in the industry. If you did, you'd know as well as I do that the avoidance algorithms in programmed AI can easily be presented with situations where they demonstrate more "A" then "I" where a humans capability for more holistic thought would perform better. If they were so good their algorithms for pointing at you while scanning wouldn't result in so many collisions would they?
3: As for real weapons, I managed to get at least a decent grounding there courtesy of Her Majesty, which means I also know how completely irrelevant to ED is any kind of real world combat experience. As for in-game rank I don't grind any of 'em. I play casually but competently and I've done a few save resets over the years. So read into it what you like. The bottom line is that I get my share of kills, have my share of credits and a decently armed fleet and I don't have a friendly fire problem but you clearly do. Who's the scrub again? If you're reading in crayon then to get the point across one does have to write in crayon.

But what the heck. SNLR, mate. Plonk.

That happens with every update - RES sites always change.

I've just lost two in my home system, but I'll find another when I need to do some bounty-hunting next.

Yeah, and it means I'm going to have to re-scout my favorite mining locations.

C'est la guerre...

Noooo!

That's the necklace holding the Medallion of the Sun! The key to the Cities of Gold...

Damn... now I'm seeing it... might need to edit sig pic... No... :(

Sorry, man :(

The gankers will find the loopholes in the new system and wont be affected since they do this as a full time job, they are good at it.

Gankers/griefers are basement-dwelling losers with no life and are good at nothing other than min-max grinding. Legitimate skilled PvPers, on the other hand, are a different breed entirely and will surely enjoy the challenge of the new C&P mechanics.

I'm not sure if it's the Epeen waving or the salt spreading that caught my eye in this thread but I have to say, even though I've not opened 3.0 yet it looks to me like it's shaping up to be a classic ED update.

Good work FD.

*Salt farmed from the community for use later...*

I love how it's the people who were saying "LAWL THIS WILL STOP TEH GREEFURS" are now the ones getting hypermad over the crime and punishment.
Of course.

The "griefers" are the ones that read the patch notes and adapted to optimize their gameplay within the allowed mechanics, as they have always done.

The people complaining about open world pvp in open are the same ones that will struggle most with the new system. They are the ones that refused to adapt their ship and flying style to the dangers of open, and now they are the ones that didn't prepare for the new c&p changes. That same trait, that refusal to adapt, that is what will always doom the latter group no matter what changes Fdev implements.
