The Deep Space Support Array (DSSA) | A FleetComm Initiative

Willing to donate 2 carriers for DSSA deployment.
Each fully outfitted and holding 40bn credits in the bank - which means they will stay in position for more than 20 years assuming the servers will be up that long.

Any feedback on this offer?
Apparently i dont have much time left on this side of the Galaxy... and it will take time to fill them with tritium and move them to designated locations if DSSA needs them.

How can you do that? Buy and dump expensive cargo?
I hope you mean you're leaving for an expedition...

I've been out in the black for a LONG Time. I'm 54 Jumps away from AIPHAISTY OD_T E3-4
I need to sell years worth on Data and do some repairs. Hopefully that carrier is still there.
Shows active. I guess I will give it a try.

so the above post is actually me. I haven't been posting for so long I've forgotten my info. I can see a lot has changed since Ive been in the black. Crazy Jump ranges and lots of new ships. I've been Looking for the elusive GGG. tens of thousand of systems and nothing. I got me a grip of data though!

I just really hope that Carrier is there.
I need to brush up on my docking though... I do have a docking module.

AIPHAISTY OD_T E3-4 is active. I hope Spacemenow is gonna be happy. I sold just under 6 billion credits there.. Cheers!

I have a carrier parked. Should I apply?
The DSSA Membership changes in fits and starts - so please see the link in the first post of this thread about adding your name to the DSSA Reserve List...I can't say exactly at this time what the expected wait time would be - but there is no penalty to apply for a reserve slot - and then change your mind etc when one becomes available...

The DSSA will be celebrating it's 5th year next summer - and perhaps we will see more Cmdrs wanting to return to the game with Colonization etc - and then be looking to use their FCs for other purposes etc...

The #dssa-initiative-chat channel on the FleetComm Discord is usually also the best way to reach us on the DSSA-Council..

6 BILLION?! Where the frack have you been, man?! Have you heard about aliens - Thargoids? Don't bother to look them up, we destroyed them already... ;)

Just kidding, but that is A LOT of exploration data, kudos.

I stay out for years at a time. This last one was 3. I admittedly took a 6 month break from the game. I'm assuming it would have been more than 6 billion if I'd have sold in Colonia or the bubble. Credits seem trivial. I'm sitting on 27 billion, the only thing it gets spent on is FC upkeep.
Anyways it seems the DSSA is going along well. It certainly worked for me. Now Back into the Black!

No, distance does not affect sale price. However, not selling at a Fleet Carrier does.
The only other thing that does is Powerplay bonuses, where you would have to pledge AND grind a lot of merits AND not die with all that data.

yes thats what I meant

Yes that's what I meant. I would never play in the bubble with data. That would be madness. But again credits seem trivial.
I do need to return at some point to get my hands on the new stuff that will improve my ships. I thought my 61ly DBX and my 59ly asp were the bomb. Not so much anymore :)

Your taking a heck of a risk with that much data, I've twice jumped into a tight cluster of 4 or 5 stars and barley made it out with the help of heatsinks. I don't own a carrier but when in the black I'll try to get to a DSSA carrier every 5000Ly and I think they should expand their number as there are some significant gaps or carriers that are closed or business.

Enjoy your credits and I hope you find a GGG.

I've never needed heatsinks in exploration. I've been in a tight spot like you've described only twice in 90K+ systems. One being a quad Neutron system. Close calls? Sure. Dropped out of supercruse 3-4 times.. I always have my ships running as cool as possible.
Thanks though. The GGG is the ultimate goal

FYI @SpaceTrash67 I dropped into the PLIELAU LO-X D2-69 system today. The DSSA carrier Cape Traverse was there, but all its services are suspended.

Fortunately some kind soul (CMDR Samia al-Fatar) put a second carrier into the same system - Victoria by the Sea. I did not see that FC listed in the DSSA Tracker, but I was quite glad to find it there.

Thank you for the update Cmdr!

So this is actually an interesting tale: someone had earlier reported the 'Cape Traverse' offline - and we managed to contact the Owner: it's a "Ghost Carrier" - as the Cmdrs' account was based on Console - so once the Odyssey U14 Update hit 2+ years ago - and the galaxy cleaved in two - they had no way to access it....So the funds finally ran out...

Fast forward to today - the same Cmdr has a PC account and both FC and funds available - so was able to field the 'Victoria By The Sea" ((V2T-G5L) as a fully-featured, Odyssey-facilities included - DSSA FC...

DSSA "Victoria By The Sea"

We (DSSA Council) just have to see how to properly update the 'backend spreadsheet' that powers the tracker - so we don't lose the history of the first FC...Should be corrected by the end of the week....

Fellow Explorers,

Due to the extreme popularity of Exobiology across the player base, the DSSA Council has decided to make Vista Genomics a required DSSA service. This means all newly deployed DSSA carriers must have this service installed, and therefore must own the Odyssey expansion. This is something the Council has debated for some time, but with the current state of play, we feel the time is right for this change.

What does this mean for the Array at large? The Council won't force any currently deployed carriers to return for a refit. If DSSA CMDRs wish to do so, please contact the Council. For CMDRs currently on the reserve list, you will need to have Vista Genomics installed before deploying. However, if your name comes up for a reserve slot and you don't have Odyssey, your spot in line will be saved until you can acquire it (i.e. if you want to wait for a sale).Thank you all for your understanding. Please let the Council know if you have any questions.
