The devs have we done it upside down?!?!

I'm neither British or a lawyer, but I have been a part of successful class action lawsuits. I don't have grounds to be a plaintiff in this case, but that doesn't mean I can't toss up a web app for people who do to co-ordinate. Roll your eyes all you'd like.
People have threatened court cases over this game many times over the years.

None have came to fruition and I sincerely doubt your grievances will either.

LOL

Have fun then... Let us all know how it goes... :ROFLMAO:

I hope you can get sufficient interest to get a law firm to take on Frontier for a $40 bit of software that is currently being 'fixed'
currently cd project is sued by 4 different parties ... the courts brought them together in a class action lawsuit ... and guess what ?? They weren't being sued by their players, they are being sued by their own shareholders ... if I were a frontier, I wouldn't be so calm.
But I think they are saved by the low amount of players / investment ... we will see the next few days how they fix the game, but do not underestimate the power of criticism.

Everyone's a legal expert on the internet. I'll keep an eye out for the case going to court. :)

I do not know what makes you think that, you can see it yourself on the network, I just comment on one fact, it is not an opinion, you should know the difference ... that Braven himself had to come out to show his face to apologize later of ... how many? 4 years? 5? It should give you an idea of how dire the situation is for them. It doesn't worry me in the least, don't worry about me or another player, that's ridiculous.

And for my part, I would not like a game that I enjoyed to be ended by a lawsuit for false advertising or something like that.
I think you have the wrong idea of people complaining about a bad product that they paid for.

Do you actually believe that? I am surprised, honestly.
Criticism is excellent - particularly when constructive.
They are already 'fixing' the game, 2 patches in 2 days isn't dreadful - no doubt more are to come quite quickly.

Low investement - maybe 🤷‍♂️

I had read that frontier owns most of its shares, so I suppose that the investors' is not much for a lawsuit, but who knows?

Braven came out to apologize, for something will be,just like Marcin Iwinski (CDPR) did in january.

Maybe instead of screaming scam, consider the possibility that there’s some bugs affecting planet gen. Elite’s planetary tech is procedural on such a massive scale that a single incorrect variable at any point can throw everything into a tailspin.

It’s pretty obvious at this point that many planets are currently worse than what we got in Odyssey’s playable alpha, and in some cases even worse than Horizons’ worlds. I find it highly unlikely that such a downgrade would be intended, and there’s already verifiable proof that certain planets aren’t rendering correctly based on what the system map info says they should (see Obby Ant’s recent video).

When you consider just how much was broken by this update, it stands to reason that a few issues made it into the planet tech as well. Just give it time and file your bug reports. Attach screenshots comparing the same worlds in Horizons and Odyssey so the devs can clearly see that something’s messed up.

So, it won't stop. Let's be honest, if people were smart, we wouldn't be in the world we are now. And stuff like DLC wouldn't have happened, when the one that started it all was a stupid horse armor in Oblivion. Yeah, that's how it started. People laughed because 5$ for a horse armor was ridiculous. And there we are.
Well, i can remember a VOICE PACK and MISSION PACK for about $30 each for Wing Commander back in the (early) 90s.... And there are much more game companies that did that back then.

Selling additional content is as old as computer games.

To the OP: Well, it seems they

a) Just mixed the planet name with other footage (just for the TRAILER) or
b) the background sim changed. Or
c) Different light because the sun is in a different position. Just think about the Sky of our own planet... did it look always the same? No.

Fact: You CAN see Planets like these in Odyssey... i have seen some in the Alpha.

I know, many of you expected more from odyssey....and yes, the performance/bugs/stabilty status of this $40 DLC is a realy bad at the moment. We are all ( more or less) angry. But please keep it fair!

I don't see a reason anyone would have to litigate against Steam/Epic. As you pointed out, either would simply remove FD before they let FD's legal problems touch them. I doubt FD would let it go that far as that would be ruinous for them, and not in a rhetorical sense.

You under-estimate how angry many now are with FD. The class action lawsuit that is currently costing a very well known company millions is over a single digit amount of dollars for each plaintiff. No joke. You don't have to have much money involved to get people sufficiently angry, all you have to do is lie to them, treat them poorly and refuse to make amends. FD would be very wise to simply offer refunds to head it off.
Anger, even if shared by many, does not create efficiencies in an otherwise inefficient legal system. Look at every high profile case that has ever been reported in the news and tell me of one that was concluded in a timely enough manner as to satisfy the crowd.

If people are really that mad, the courts are not going to give them comfort or relief. So long as Inara, EDDB, Coriolis, and the numerous other third party tools are humming along as normal, FDev is not going to fret over some angry peasants discussing how best to light a torch or which model pitchfork goes best with their outfit.

My mom bought a car (from a US mfr) that broke down twice in the first 35 miles.

She switched to a non-US car, and never looked back.

What I want to know is why so many users here are so resistant to the idea that maybe Odyssey released broken. Why do so many of you go to such lengths to defend FDev for this?

Because they have the same mentality as Ponzi scheme victims.

Contrary to popular belief, many con victims don't direct their anger at the people who fooled them. Instead, they're so embarrassed and ashamed that they were fooled that they instead persist in the illusion that they're vanguards of a legitimate and successful product. That's why the most ardent defenders of Ponzi schemes are victims of Ponzi schemes.

In reality, just look for real screenshots and streams to see how Odyssey performs. And the blunt reality is that it's very much a broken release.

Exegious and Down to Earth Astronomy for instance have both released live play streams (11 and 4 hours long respectively). Now, I don't have time to watch the whole thing - and I suspect most people don't either. However, whenever I fast-forward to any part of their videos you'll see them encounter some kind of bug within 5 minutes. Some are minor glitches like dead bodies floating in the air, but others are more annoying like connectivity issues or how you get bizarrely handed bounties for doing some ground missions.

Worse, nothing is really that great graphics-wise. To be fair - some folks have posted nice pics elsewhere in the forums - but you have to look for the planets with nice views and time the shots. The majority of planets by contrast still look like Horizon.

This is why I appreciate threads like these who post actual screenshots. It makes it unavoidable to confront the reality that this launch has a ton of problems. Over on the Steam forums, it's still an unending stream of basic bug problems - like Orange Sidewinder, unable to connect, or getting stuck in an Apex taxi. That's why it got such terrible reviews. The people too embarrassed to admit reality can talk all they want. They can pretend we are being "rude" by pointing out they have no clothes.

In reality, its likely the people who got trapped in an Apex taxi just gave a thumbs down and asked for a refund because that's such an unacceptably stupid bug that prevents people from playing - when it's a largely unnecessary feature in the first place (the base game gives you a spaceship, so why need a taxi?). Add on top of that the refund issues some people are experiencing, then it becomes unavoidable to start players from believing that Fdev is really a scam.

Well, there is a difference between defending someone and remember ppl to stay fair and reasonable. The OP thinks shat he is scamed by FDEV because the planet he flown to didnt look like in a trailer. Realy?

The release is a mess and everybody knows that. But this didnt mean that that every critic post have a point.

FDEV will be punished if they didnt get the Odyssey on line, thats for sure. Just look at the Steam Reviews. THIS will realy hurt them, thats for sure.

Definitely no planets with blue skies to be found....

... if you don't look.

34% positive, currently on Steam. Over 2000 reviews.
Thats devastating and WILL hurt sales massively.

I realy liked the alpha and was absolutly sure that we would see massive improvements with the final release. Sadly they didnt delivered.

FDEV earned this, absolutly.
