I have Vista Ultimate 32bit with 4GB ram (of course only 3 in use) Core 2 Duo with an 8800GTS 640MB. It will run windowed at 800x600 but not full screen at 1680x1050 and I don't get the icons in the display. It does run very smoothly tho with Aero turned on. The Russian sites suggest that it runs fine on vista...

Yeah, I got that too, somewhere along the way whilst installing each patch as they came along. IIRC I solved the problem by going straight from the v1.0b main game to the v1.12b patch, missing out the patches in between.

I had to set the resolution to 1280x1024 in the cfg file and that got the icons back.
Other resolutions seem to make the icons disappear

I like this mod a lot, the gas giants look similar to what they did in Frontier but better. I always thought the graphics in FFE were a step back in terms of how these gas giants were represented. Fly around Jupiter and see for yourself how good looking it is in this mod. The moons look better than ever as do the stars. I also like the new ship models and their graphics - a fine improvement to the game. It's really something I always thought the Elite Club would've come up with at some stage and this has made that come true. Something like this deserve to be on Xbox LIVE because it would certainly wet some appetites for Elite IV. I'm looking forward to updates.

Right, it works great my Vista Desktop - but there is one problem, you have to click just below each button to press it. I think it has something to do with the resolution because some work slightly better than others but I've only tried a few - those on the higher end of the spectrum and of course default :1024 x 768. The default works fine on my laptop of course, wonder if it's a Vista problem ?
For some reason, the problem was solved for me by switching off the Aero interface in Vista. Why this should affect it I don't know, but there you go.
Running the game at 1280x1024 and no Aero works fine
I'll recommend to turn off Aero in Vista if you wanna play to FFE3D

Have you worked out how to add storyline missions yet? I'd love to help add some, as i'm sure would other members here.
DreamZzz plans to add LUA in the future. I think, additional missions will be possible.
