Yep, that is the accepted way of dealing with this bug. Head over to the space sim central archive and grab yourself a copy of JJFFE or GLFFE and use them to get you to your target system. Once you are sure your target is there, save the game and reload FFE3D. Worth a try anyways.

Ffe 3d....

Hi,
I have just downloaded this game, and it works an absolute treat on windows 7 64.
I am in no rush for Elite 4 at this time, as this game full fills all my criteria, in the sense that it has all the playability of the original, but with much better graphics, well done to the Russians.....
I am however befuddled !
I can speed the ship up by pressing the usual enter key, but cannot slow it down by pressing the right shift key!
I also cannot eject.
Does anybody else have this problem?
Is there a way of assigning keys to do a specific job, or does anybody know what key I use to slow down....

Welcome to the forums greenbriggs9. Hope you're enjoying FFED3D! :)

The issue with the right-shift seems to have been resolved in this post, though unfortunately later in the thread someone said they were having difficulty undoing the changes. Might be worth a try though...

Steve.. That has worked a treat. I can now slow down, and this has made FFE 3d totally playable, thank you kind sir.
Powl, I have downloaded pioneer, and I must say! I am mesmerised by it, and it looks ten times better than FFE 3D, but this time I cannot even accelerate or decelerate!
As both enter key and right shift key do not work.!
It's all about keyboard issues you see.
However! These are only small issues, and when I get home, I am going to set both games up, and try them on my monster machine.
I am so elated to think that there is hope, and I can now get on with the serious issue of trading and mining, on my up to date PC, without having to resort to poor relations to Elite....
Both these games are elite games, and they have been modified to run on an up to date machine.
I mean to say! What more could a space simmer need!
Like I said, elite 4 can wait, I have two amazing games to sink my teeth into.
My life is now complete. I don't have to rely on emulators, and pesky graphics, just to play a game that is totally addictive.
Now if you boys don't mind! I have some exploring to do, and some awesome graphics to soak in.

Hey there guys. I have just downloaded this but I am having problems with the resolution. It won't let me switch between fullscreen and windowed so I have to set fullscreen to true in the settings, and if I choose any other resolution than 1440 x 900 (my monitor max) then the game won't load. When I play the game though it chops off some of the words in the bottom right hand side. Any idea how to shrink the screen a bit so I can see them?

I had to faff around with res settings to get it to work. Strangley a different res to what i use worked.

Try setting it windowed too, with a lower res jsut to see if it would work..you may have problems with 900pixel height though. My problem was on my laptop with 900pixels, it worked windowed but not full screen, bits were missing. I think 800 x 500 in windowed mode worked on the laptop

its modern widescreen displays, you don't get a higher pixel width, you just get a lower pixel height to give the widescreen

Hmm very strange.

It doesn't actually seem to be cutting any text off, I've just done some comparisons between windowed and fs and, when I'm in fs mode, when the text scrolls down off the screen it just doesn't seem to scroll all the way off. So what I thought was missing text was actually just the top line of the previous message. It also happens in windowed mode on 800 x 600, but not on 800 x 500.

I'll just play it in fs now I know I'm not actually missing anything, windowed mode is just to small to immerse myself in the game properly :smilie:

If you want to try this:

Here is the d3dx9_29.dll : http://www.d3dx9.net/download-missing-d3dx9_29-dll/…download it and then extract the downloaded zip file to the system32 folder which is located in windows folder (that is located in your main drive which contains the installed windows)

FFE D3d - cant read last line of journals...

I just installed FFE D3D, the last line of the journals doesnt show up. in the first issues it happens with the imperial herald and federal times. I've tried different resolutions, i've disabled visual themes, desktop composition and display scaling in the EXE properties. I've tried lowering windows font DPI and i've also tried a patch that changes the font of the game... nothing works. I've looked everywhere on the internet and i couldn't find any posts about this issue... don't believe i'm the only one experiencing this.

Has anyone ever found a solution to this or at least know what i'm talking about?

ok, i've passed some time till i received the second issue of the journals. I guess its not a problem, i thought that the new issues would put on the bottom and i wouldnt be able to read the last lines again...

Thanks for all this. I've got it working now on Vista 64. I noticed that the npcs faces are missing though. Any ideas?
