Awesome work!
So impressed, that I mentioned your work on another forum with a link to this thread as a 'Must have', when mentioning the FFED3D project overhaul.

Geraldine, the stars are nothing to do with this cockpit, and it shouldn't be interfering with the display of the background (the stars and the galaxy cloud are all part of the same image that makes up the background as far as i can tell)
Does the background work with the default 'pit? Perhaps try a fresh install and see if you can see the background.
btw, i have uploaded a hopefully fixed version -renamed the "model" folder to "models" in the archive, updated link is in the first post.

Oh no, your nice pit never caused the starfield problem, looks great by the way. The game never showed any stars since install. I had a lot of bother trying to download the game from the Russian boards. Guess I will try try again. I will get this "Eliteski" running right if its the last thing I do, but any help or advice would always be welcome.
Ps Also downloaded your Viper, cant wait to take that for a spin!

just try re-downloading the latest install of FFED3D and make a fresh installation... mine worked perfectly first time and its possible your first download became corrupted somehow. what are your system specs?

My system specs are as follows
Dual boot Windows XP and Vista
2 gigs of ram
Dual core 2.4 Ghz
Invida 8400 Graphics card, cant recall how much video ram the card has, but it should be plenty.
I think its my installed game that is corrupted somehow. I did have problem unzipping it. I will re-download it and the latest patch and try again. Thanks for the help Steve

Thanks for your advice, but I have tried that over and over and re-downloaded the game six times. Guess I will have to wait and hope its a bug they are working on. Still a great game though, or rather a great remake of a great game, anyways I still have GL FFE if I miss the stars. Not as nice as the 3D version, but still wonderful considering I never played FFE before cos it was never out on the Miggy.

you've got a better graphics card than me, and enough of everything else... should run fine on your system.

It was a shame about it never coming out on the Amiga, but have you tried the shareware version of FFE? you can see if the stars are on that, then at least you know its just FFE3D.

That's one thing I have not tried yet and checking my vid drivers, they are indeed a little out of date. I will update them and keep my fingers crossed. And TJ, I have the GL version of FFE, so all is not lost and I did manage to transfer my "GL" save games over to FFE3D, now all I have to do is make enough money to buy that lovely Viper!
Grrr still no stars. Oh well

I've just been playing FFE3D and decided to do the Thargoid Missions. Went to Polaris and docked with the Thargoid station but didn't get the message from them re the Mycoid mission.
Tried reloading a few times, I seem to remember this was a occasional problem in the original, but I was wondering if this was the original bug or it just dosen't work in FFE3D. Has anyone else done the mission and managed to get the message appear?

You could always try saving the game just before the problem occurs and then load that savegame into GLFFE to get you through the bit that doesn't work. Then save again and carry on in D3D.Hi Turwhitt,
Tried that, no luck I'm afraid. Knew this used to be a problem on the originals.

Sorry to jump in, half way through a discussion, just really wanted to say, downloaded all the FFED3D mods and video and sounds and err ... out of breath - LOL ... it's blooming fantastic!
Hmmm I've started again, playing the game and err - am just remembering what it's like to be destroyed in 2 seconds, only just getting my money up - but I am getting that same buzz when I frist played it!
