The Fix For Combat Logging (MENU LOG)

Please, please, please tell me that you are attempting to be a joke...

If two wanted players fight ingame over each other’s bounty, is it unfair that the loser combat log to avoid paying rebuy and giving the other player the bounty? It’s really that simple.

Also play a gif of a ship going boom, so you feel all warm and fuzzy inside.

Lmao Rep heading your way. It's a videogame. It's not going to get completely locked down the way people want. There are way too many levels of Internet connections out there to verify what is what. Bottom line, they combat log, you won. I don't think there's any dead horse left to beat. I think it's just a pile of dust you all are hitting with a stick. Is it wrong, yes but from a business sense, your not gonna hurt a prayer base with poor Internet.

Why does a timer matter? How many people log off in combat with the timer, who wouldn't also just kill the program if the timer was longer or non existent?

How many times is this actually happening to you guys? In practically every online game there are people that rage quit/leave before you can win whatever you're playing. Literally NOTHING will ever stop this from being a thing. Sure you can ban someone if they do it continually but again, how often are they doing it? The people that do it are licking your salty tears up, enjoying the fact that they "reversed" the situation and are upsetting you. Don't let it get to you. There's nothing you or Frontier can do to stop it. It may be a hollow victory but it's still a victory.

It happens often enough to be an issue.

The year 3304 and somehow there's no "wanted" board for ganksters with high bounties on their heads, why is it that difficult to publish such a list ?, dock at a station, open mission panel, "Wanted Galaxy Wide" > current location > Hunt them down like the vermin that they are. Sounds like great OPEN game play to me.

Flash back to the 1800's, Sheriff goes to railway station, sends " ...---..." to all stations, "gankster on the loose", Bandit is hunted down and killed. worked then why not now.

I’d love it if a PF bounty like that would mode lock a player to Open until it was cleared, which is the only way a system such as yours could be of any use.

It's not for me to explain anything to you at all unless you send me a cheque :D

Go enjoy your pew-pew.

That’s the thing, Asp. I’m not a ganker but because I partake in pvp you treat me and the topic with disdain. Frankly, it’s toxic. You should really know better.

Not at all Ozram - there is no disdain involved at all. Pew-pew has it's place in Elite, and it's a heap of fun!

But when it's an unmatched or unfair clubbing for lulz - I can't see the fun in that at all. Or even the point.

I agree. I think rando murderhoboing is lame behaviour. Two wrongs don’t make a right though and the discussion here is to do with combat logging. You’d be surprised how many times I’ve had players log on me who fired the first shot. Just today a buddy of mine was attacked by a Vette against his Cobra. The attacker didn’t realise the cobra was packing reverb mines and lost its shields, then a massive amount of hull. Then he Combat logged. It’s cheating and unsportsmanlike. It’s also not just hapless victims use it.

I was just clubbed in my Explorer enroute to the CG Orbital, no chance of escape whatsoever and I've no idea why, what I did like was the discount offered for my rebuy due to zero notoriety, 300k, not bad. Perhaps if frontier offered the "seal clubbed" with zero notoriety a free replacement it would abolish senseless murder, for if the "seal" spawns free of charge, why bother clubbing it.

P.S. I'm waiting for my Vulture to arrive at the CG and then I'll hunt this dude down.

Haven’t had a chance to check out the CG. Gotta keep an eye out for murderhobos at all of them though. Usually it’s best to have an escape plan for all non combat ships. A mix of build and experience should see you safely through most any encounter.

Ah, so, you're going to totally change the conditions of the discussion, which were originally that menu logging (by non-combatant players) should be considered combat logging, to something else just to win the argument. Got it...

Who cares about winning a stupid argument, my point is that combat logging is a rather dumb mechanic that hurts Piracy, bounty hunting, and Powerplay. Apparently that’s grounds for you to take personal offense for some reason, I don’t understand why though as I haven’t insulted you earlier nor called your opinion a joke. (Unlike you earlier, with no explanation given either)

If you want to nitpick though rather than address the issue that combat logging is a bad mechanic, then hey take a ‘win’ in a forum thread. It’s easy to criticize when you don’t actually put your own opinions up on the chopping block and just bash other ideas without explanation.

Very few people disagree that CLogging is bad. Most just don't really care but a vanishingly small amount of people think its a good thing for any game to ragequit (or to encourage someone to do so). There's not much discussion to be had there, and what little there is has been discussed many, many times.

This thread is about menu-logging.

Ok, same thing applies to that. The current menu log system encourages evasion of ingame consequences and hurts piracy, bounty hunting, and Powerplay. The timer should be adjusted much more when players are involved in the instance and attempting a menu log, and Frontier should act when Combat Logging (pull the plug) is proven to occur as a means of escaping player interaction.
