THE FORMIDINE RIFT MYSTERY (Part 4)

Jotunheim is also a mountain region in Norway. It means as you say Jotun home.

These guys were in constant conflict with the gods of Aasgaard.

Try 20 t MA in a cobra mk III, perhaps they got an Fsd upgrade on the way there, what route was it, from prism? Maybe some tantalum too...
Is there a graveyard in tionisla, or just a comms point.

That 20 T of MA almost looks like something you would take to an engineer to get access? Maybe there is an undiscovered engineer somewhere?? (I know, not very helpful).
I gave up looking around Col 70 and decided to get Allied with Wreaken.

In all the time I spent working for them I found 1 Wreaken vessel! (And no "special permit" once Allied).

I'm thinking I might cruise back down to the base in Running Man and poke around a bit more.
And I will lug 20T of MA, because you just never know...

Also worth noting is the system name Jotunheim is an obvious reference to Jötunheimr - the land of the giants in norse mythology.

You should never bring up Land of the Giants on a sci-fi board. For many, including me, that was one of the worse TV series to come out of the 60s

That was my recollection as well, which left me wondering were we looking at Salomé & co either having made a cloaking device or a uber weapon with the meta alloys, more likely the cloaking device and used that to sneak a cobra (luco's) into col 70 sector.

I think that the old generation of ship is used to be able to get the effect ("mis-jump") which is no longer available on the new generation of ship .

Jack station do one mis-jump . but ....

That is a very nice development. And check out this video of the same thing (spoiler warning for sensitive and/or emotionally challenged types):

The next thing that comes to mind is...probably time to stop vandalising their stuff. And nice artwork FD, I'm impressed.

I knew I'd be glad one day I never shot a barnacle.

Surely this is an event Drew is already featuring in the new book. But there would need to be more for this to make sense in the context of a book. "And then an alien ship dropped by and refuelled at one of the barnacles, showing the dumb humans they'd been inadvertently shooting another species' gas stations. The end." does not an interesting reading make.
There will certainly be additional interaction with them.

Did you deliver Meta Alloys to Farseer? Have a Meta Alloy enhanced cargo rack from Palin? If so: Guilty by association.
Yes and do you know what? I'm less bothered now.

I've always said that the biological sin nebulae were probably connected to Guardians as part of their genetics work and thought the Thargoids and their ships may be connected or even grown from them.

Now we see they are connected and are sucked dry in some kind of refuel/restock all that has been done by humans is a similar process.

So more picking fruit from a tree rather than hurting a potentially intelligent life form is more likely now. That makes me happier

The Barnacles are kind of like Thargoid hay fields. Their technology is biological so they don't so much "refuel" their ships and they do "feed them". The ships are like their horses so they bring them into the hay field and let the horses graze.

The question we have to ask is just how well these hay farmers are going to react to strangers grazing in their fields.

If your right about feeding them as a bio process, makes me wonder about mucking out the stalls. And the true nature of those cone fungi fields. And can the output be sold at Robigo? :)

As an alternative thought - the main ship is feeding the barnacle... watering it like a gardener.

The ship feeding the Barnacle? If that is the case then we still have to content with the possibility that the ship is a mother feeding her offspring.
