The Formidine Rift - Part 2

I think what this thread needs is for someone to take all the salient points and ideas that have been made and produce them into a single post.

Agreed :) I've been working on something for a couple of days ... I've had a busy IRL this weekend. Hope to have something up early next week :)

All my ships are named after horses. My first Cobra Mkiii was the 'Jolly Jumper'. The Python, 'Shadowfax' and my current Asp Explorer is simply 'Cisco' :)

Nice! I name mine after Flowers that also have common names involving the use of angel in them. Brugmansia means Angel's Trumpet, which I thought would be good for an exploration ship using the Advanced Discovery Scanner. But naming them after horses is a pretty good idea too! Especially like the name 'Jolly Jumper'

The old woman mentioned about dark systems. I think they now refer to dark unscoopable stars. I you check the galmap on the vicinity of the rift (filter to display unscoopable star types only), you'll find they only exist on a layer below the galactic plane. Maybe the system you wish to find is also on this plane (or even down below until you find the whole galaxy "just hanging there" above you).

Thank you. From this point of view it matches my current exploration round trip : Traveling from nebula to nebula right now within 5kly's, then back to the bubble, re-outfit and out to the rift.

I'm just in midstride between crossing the two galactic arms before the rift! I wish you luck when you get there. Depends on who goes? Wonder what that is supposed to mean anyways.

I ran through the 1st thread yesterday, and might have been too much in a hurry, but; we were hinted before that some assumptions about characters you made might have to be reconsidered. And also I faintly remember Drew saying we didn't think of everyone who is involved in this matter.
I found the first part fascinating as I can't really remember reading any real assumptions concerning the characters. I'll cut through the forum once again but after reading so much in a relatively short period of time I had the feeling the "ahem, core of the problem" is finding the links between the people involved in the mystery.
I'd say simply reading through Salomé related galnet won't throw up any results.

It would be nice to know what type of communication is "real" lore-wise. We send letters to each-other but is it doable in the universe?
I mean I think we don't have to search galnet for direct clues about this matter but we have to look for a somewhat secretive dialogue!

Also It looks fantastic how the UA and this mytery came to a halt after you guys made nice progression on both ends.
So can Palin be related? I have to leave for RL activity now but I'll try to read through galnet and make guesses about who might be involved.

Also if anyone rade Reclamation, was the princess directly involved in the fightings?
My tinfoil hat makes me say she is an AI.

While there may be hints from the Senator Kahina storyline that was presented in Galnet during E: D's first year I think the real hints are still to come. I seem to recall Drew mentioning that there were some limitation in the way that Galnet was presented back then which have since been fixed... with those fixes in place the story of Salome can now continue in Galnet.

I do suspect that some of the hints will require us to decipher messages hidden inside the text of these Galnet articles. Here's an example of hiding messages in plain sight from Drew Wagar's "Status Quo" which is book 1 of his "Oolite Saga":

... Geraint and he had long ago collaborated on some basic symbolic language so that they could communicate covertly if necessary. Mostly they had used it to keep each other informed on research activities across departments which were supposed to be separate. They had never really had much call to use it for anything else.

Jim finished his early morning coffee and as expected another text dropped into his console. For the most part it was the normal conversational letter, except for a series of sentences about two thirds of the way down.

Trumble infestation awful by the way. Zerz likes the little critters; I can’t clean them out because the scanners aren’t working.

Trumble was their code for trouble, ‘infestation awful’ meant something really bad. The next sentence implied Zerz was the cause. ‘Scanners not working’ meant Geraint was investigating but didn’t have the answers yet.

It's fantastic how much lore sits in your heads, guys!
I understand it's just a guess and as such it's as good as any, but I still have the feeling groups are communicating via the galnet articles. I'll try to look for something like you quoted Jaiotu, thank you!

Drew also said nothing in ED is completely unrelated - or something similar.

I'll have to leave in minutes but started to reread the first thread and I'll quote Drew saying we didn't find all the person-related links of the matter, unless what he said was in my mind, planted by space madness when I was running through space to fetch my Rifter 'conda.

If anyone has ideas about who else might be involved it wouldn't hurt to make a list of possible "conspirators". Reading through galnet will be long so it'd be helpful for me to know your opinion about the matter.
It MIGHT be helpful to look for such a dialogue and why I think it's not entire bull     is the guess that two secretive groups are trying to establish communications with each other. Being secretive means you cannot just go and meet someone, you don't even know who she/he is. Galnet takes your words everywhere....

I have been thinking about this,

this question need to be answered first: wat happens when you sell your exploration data at a specific system and station?

Answer : the controlling faction of that station gains influence, I believe it is close to 1% influence = 5 million credits exploration data.

I expect that the data of ED will be around the 40-60 million = 8-12% influence for a specific faction he sells to.(there is a cap of how much a faction can gain influence on a day, i don't know wat the amount of the cap is)

I don't think for the story of finding the secret in the Formidine Rift it need to be sold to HR6421 /the Children of Raxxla why because it is a player minor faction that want to enter the game of Powerplay and compete against other factions.
when Frontier would lock this data to this player faction they will get a lot of players angry because of giving a advance over the other competing minor factions.

So the question will be which minor faction must get this data, I myself was thinking The Dark Wheel, but Im not so sure about this anymore why?

because of this Galnet article, Prism senator Missing,

this was written in the article,

Lady Kahina’s Imperial Courier, the ‘Seven Veils’, still at the Capitol spaceport, was impounded and examined. It was found to be completely stripped of all valuable equipment, with the modifications made at Avalon shipyards discovered to be carefully crafted fakes.
Lady Kahina’s Imperial tiara was found in the cockpit, along with a small medallion bearing an ancient symbol on one side and the word ‘Salomé’ on the other.
The symbol is believed to belong to an organisation some refer to as ‘The Dark Wheel’.

We know now that she was 8 april 3302 on Beagle Point.
This whil mean then she have say goodbye to her beloved Seven Veils ( she was there in a white Asp)
she have take distance of being a Imperial princess because she left her tiara behind.
She is no member anymore of The Dark Wheel because she left the medallion behind, (whe know now also she have accept to be the leader of The Children of Raxxla)

just now on the live stream:

salome is indeed at beagle point, some king of secret meeting happened, "important information must be carried back to the bubble asap"

there you have it. soon(tm). exciting, isnt it!?!

This whole Children of Raxxla - Kahina thing feels like a paradox. I also applied to them 'cause I liked the peace and different kind of approach to matters she seemed to propose. Then I read on the forums the group wants to engage in PP. Why? To do things differently by doing the exact same thing all over again?
She could win the heart of everyone without making a political group. With lots of us she already did.
I understand many here are members of the Children and as I said I also want to be one but who created the group itself?

I believe it is cmdr Alessia Verdi

Good observation. Rep.

Lets not forget that Kahina is a politician, a slaver and a daugther of the Empire. Getting a new name, does not make her the alturistic 'Queen of explorers'.
She wants to find the secret of the rift, because it will hurt her political enemies.

Therefor I start to think wat Salome said was only to give awareness towards ED that the data he carry can influence a political faction in the bubble.
so that you can sell it to any faction you want to give influence.

Maybe it is also related to the upcoming lifestream of ED about the BGS,

Also Salome did the DWE trip herself so she have already the data to influence her faction.
