Ahh the space madness is probably mine. I mentioned french ... but it was related to OLD Frontier First Encounter Articles .. not any upcoming Galnet things...![]()
Ah, non, pas enCORE. ;-)

The hardest part of that would be determining just what the "Core Systems" are. Does it refer to the Old Worlds? The systems inside the Power Play map? Is it even a geographical reference? Maybe "Core Systems" refers to population and tech level? I don't think I've actually seen a definition of what is and isn't a Core System.
Oh nice!
I knew there was a Persephone system, but I've not explored it so wasn't aware of the planet.
Going full tinfoil now...
Virgil uses 'Formidine' to describe the gateway to hell in Orpheus.
Persephone is goddess of the underworld...
Now, if we get hugely tangential and consider the 'Seven Veils' to be a reference to the Babylonian Ishtar/Inanna myth, then the Babyloian equivalent of Persephone is 'Ereshkigal'. Now there's also a system called Ereshkigal - I think sonebody should swing by...
Hi!
Can I make the Heisenberg crossing with a 25 ly jump range?
TBH, it is a very alluring way of reading the clues. But so far using them that way has not lead me to any pointer to a location or stellar object type, or anything usefull really.
The nicest thing about it is that it's only based on solid/reliable clues, so I would keep this line of inquiry in mind.
I hit the same problem. I had to navigate "down" a few jumps before I could plot a route from 6 to 7. The FuelRat who so graciously saved my butt followed the Heisenberg Passage in an Anaconda with a better jump range then me and he managed 6 to 7 fine but had a problem charting a course from 7 to 8. Seems to be a problem with the Nav computer not the route itself.
I think what is missing is the link to Kahina and the priestess/sorceress/diviner angle.
I'm currently on the return leg of a trip to Sag A*, with the goal of dully scanning every system I hit, so I've got plenty of time for theorizing...
CMDR LuckyLuke is correct. The "Friendliest place this side of Riedquat" is a nod to Oolite, nothing more, it is the nickname of the Oolite forums. The phrase was actually one of my kickstarter pledge awards - to have a line of dialogue in the book - submitted by a generous pledger.
Cheers,
Drew.
Thanks for clarifying that Drew. The literal interpretation of that passage, the old lady commenting on her memory being messed with plus cryptic hints of 'slipping things by the censors', that you 'like misdirection' and 'core of the problem' all strongly suggested a Reorte-Diso line.
It turns out that Reorte-Diso is dead on the Cassiopeia Camelopardalis delimiter which further fueled my curiosity. Nice to have it cleared up. It's hard enough to figure out what it is, definitely don't need to be picking through the wrong hay stack too.
If I had to guess it's a nod to Drew or just coincidence. The date is interesting in that the official Elite Dangerous lore starts in 3265 with the events in Lave Revolution, one year after the presumed Wagar Expedition so my take is there's no official lore that reaches *quite* that far back.
Edit: The system description doesn't match the actual system layout at all so there's one similarity with Prism.
I still feel there's something in Cassiopeia for us to find - Drew specifically pointed us to look into the etymology of the Kahina name, and I don't expect it was so we could simply marvel at his literary skills![]()
Can I ask -- do you remember if you had "plot fastest route" or "plot economical route" enabled when trying to plot the jumps? I just had "economical" enabled the whole time, and did not run into problems. Trying to find the "fastest route" within the rift might lead to problems, I don't know.
Cheers, CMDR Heisenberg6626

Have more rep to add to your mountain. I did not know Economical Routes would help plotting in sparse areas.

I'm leaning towards the former, given this Twitter post by Drew which I just found...

The most tangible link we have so far for the Kahina name etymology is Berber Queen > Queen of Aethiopia > Cassiopeia.
I am afraid I have to point out that this is not true. As someone has already pointed out over at the Discord group, the etymology of the name Kahina has nothing directly to do with the historical fact that there was a 'Berber queen' called Kahina. The etymology points to the linguistic meaning(s) of a name, not its historical bearers.
Thus, the etymology of Kahina does not provide a tangible link to Kassiopeia. The history, so to speak, does, but that's not what Drew pointed out, right?
