The game is not worth fixing

sadly your right, mistake they made with what everyone thinks is a lighting problem is big, it is not a lighting problem but rendering and module boundary issue and to fix it they would have to take the whole game apart and redo a lot of it and they wont because maybe they just don't even know how. what they know how to do is how to try to make it look better by playing around with lighting. all those people hoping lighting issues will be eventually fixed are in to a huge disappointment, this issue can't be fixed by update.
so, maybe your right about releasing some new content would cheer people up a little :)
Well I am pretty happy with the lighning currently. I would prefer to focus on bringing more content (especially for exploration) and ship interiors which is easily doable.

As much as I agree, and dislike Odyssey a lot. Odyssey still looks better than.......................

^ this!

Actually, if FDev will be able to deliver this:

I'll be more than happy!

(No joke, I've always been a big fan of Miss Piggy)

Yes I agree, they aren't fixing the things that make it a pig though. I feel like there's nothing that can be done at this point and they should just go back to making it a space flight sim and focus on that. They almost had something.
Yes, they could make sure what they've already output is optimized (should have been done before release), but to continue more with the on foot stuff or some of the other things on their list is pointless to me as it's a completely disparate from the game that we all purchased years ago.

Ship interiors more ship interaction, EVA, more planet variation (water, plants etc.), player based economy introduction, adding to exploration, less focus on settlement massacres, improve missions, add a common enemy, ie on foot thargoids, add some kind of story based mode, a season pass type system should have been added for their own sake, more ship unlocks, this all should have been the main focus of this Odyssey release IMO.
Ok so to sum up :
  • they should just go back to making it a space flight sim and focus on that
  • but to continue more with the on foot stuff or some of the other things on their list is pointless to me as it's a completely disparate from the game that we all purchased years ago
  • EVA, more planet variation (water, plants etc.)

So I'm a little confused now. First you want more space fligh sim and not continuing with on foot stuff, then you want more EVA and planet variation...

Sure, whatever. I forgot about how dumb this forum is too, sorry about that.
Basically saying,

-they should have stayed a space flight sim. Landing is part of a flight sim.
-Atmospheric landings, proper atmospheres.
-On foot is the next progression of that space flight sim.
-They went ahead with the on foot stuff in the completely wrong direction.
-Enjoy the lipstick.

I feel that this thread should be in the suggestion section 🤣

But you're right OP, FDev should just completely abandon several years worth of work and add a couple of new shiny ships to EDH to make everyone happy.
I'm not really here to argue with armchair game designers, my opinion is the game has run it's course. They had an opportunity to save it and they went the wrong way.
I have 11 billion credits, a fleet carrier, a bunch of ships, 50k ARX unused, it's not like I haven't put a lot into this game.
I've quietly logged out for months before, satisfied with what I got out of the game and content to never play again.
I was interested to see what Odyssey would bring.
It did not bring anything for me and seemed to actively go against what made it popular in the first place, VR.
I guess, I'm posting here since Odyssey, just voicing that I'm disappointed in the direction they took.
I'm not posting because I hate the game, I'm posting because I loved it.

I'm the canary in the mine, this has the signs of a dying MMO

You may have reached your own point of saturation but you should be able to deduct from the mere fact it still exists and provides a livelihood for the team developing it, that your opinion can't be universal. Nor anyone else's, for that matter. Each of us is on a different point along the journey and this implies not all have seen the end of it.

Not everything in the latest iteration agrees with me either but I can't find fault with them addressing more than one crowd. In fact it may be what saves them over the time. Unlike in others I've experienced, there is at least some degree of voting here. If you say what you're missing you can be heard, but don't expect them to revolve around you only.

Said the armchair game designer. Also not sure why you're under the impression that it was VR that made Elite popular. Pretty sure it was the fact that it's a good game.
I mean I am more concerned about another fact.
Why do people complain. See there is not really much they can add with a full fledged dlc anymore.
And now that odyssey is in place basically all core mechanics that are required are in. Now it's only a matter of properly adding more depth. For example make squadron port on planets or smth. Like smth the squadron can invest in. Basically a mix of carrier and the new settlements.
Add custom squadron decals and all that.
Finally rework BGS and Powerplay to be more comprehensive. Add more design variations. I could list more but that would miss the point.

The fact is the core mechanics now exist.

Did anybody notice on the Imperial Eagle, the cargo-hatch clips with the back of the ship when it opens. Is this worth fixing?

You are still having it good. On the Chief, make sure you aren't standing around when hardpoints are getting stowed. 🤭

It's not worth fixing, since the game is dead anyway. Has launched dead, seven years ago. It's a game about zombies. A real shame, had it been about demons, it could have been Doom.

Sure. At what point do I claim my opinions are universal? You clearly are enjoying the game.

Just sit back and ask yourself what makes this a good game to you, and what is just dopamine?
