It would appear that my X52 is dying. The YAW is now permanently moving left a little, locking the stick doesn't help, so have to apply constant left YAW to conter it, not to great, and now the pinky/shift button has broken.

Bah. Hum. Bug.

Time to buy some torx screwdrivers and strip the stick. Sneaky of them putting the torx in there, 3 normal screws plus torx in the hand guard/hight doodaa.

Don't suppose anyone has had to fiddle with the stick innards before?

Very common issue, electrical contact cleaner sprayed into the potentiometer which is in the base of the handle. Worth a try before you have to buy a new stick.

Cheers, I'll hopefully try that later on. Don't suppose you know where I could get hold of any spare magnet brackets? One of mine has gone missing, while I was playing with the innards... no idea how I lost it.. it just seems to have vanished..

Alas, it seems now to be totally dead, apart from lights. Throttle still works but stick is non responsive now, I suspect the electrical clearer may have done something to something.. :(

Oh well, nevermind - it might magically start working.

I have noticed that a number of use have very similar hardware configurations when it comes to the controllers.

I have the Warthog as well as the Saitek Combat pro flight rudders.

I know that TARGET works fantastic with their own products. Does anyone know of any other program that can combine devices, regardless of manufacturer to a single soft HID device?

I know someone had managed to "hack" an entry into Target so he could use them, but also stated he would not release it. So, supposedly, it can be done. Do we have any good programmers that can take a look at target to see what prevents the connections?

Also, side note, I have heard of other people taking one of the lower end Thrustmaster sticks apart and using the components inside the saitek rudders themselves, thus giving Target something to, well, target and map.

Also... (after thought) Anyone care to share their Target file if they use one?

X52 pro is a better stick in my opinion although the shortages are a bit concerning.

Just posted a note in a different thread to say that Dabs now have these in stock (my back order just shipped) for shipping today at ~£110 for the x52 pro... so if anyone is after once, get in quick as that's the best price I've seen around

Similarly, Amazon have them for £108. I ordered yesterday and it is being delivered today.

Good spotting - wonder if this means the X55 is ready to ship a little earlier than people anticipated (saw a link to a guy who'd been sent a pre-release one by accident, or some suggesting a planned leak...).

Just installed it (grabbed the latest drivers from the website - how many lights on this thing??) and looking for something to test it with now.

There's a demo of Flight Simulator X in the box but that was aimed at XP spec machines (and is not too happy with my multi monitor setup on 8.1 etc) so any suggestions gratefully received.

... roll on Beta...

The fix for the spring works GREAT. I have a new X52 stick/throttle/& Pro Flight Pedals. Did the spring fix as soon as I got it and it tightened it up very nicely. You can add more "spacers" as needed if it gets "loose" as the stick gets older. The spacers are pretty much free and not hard to do at all. I'm providing a link to a site that will help you do the fix. There are also links to add either more powerful magnets if you like and more magnets if you like. Just Google for them, not hard to find. Link below:

Here is a link for a very simple magnet mod. Link below:

Magnet trick is a good one... not seen that way of doing it before :D
Be careful with the spring/spacer mod as it can restrict the extremes of axis movement. ie u wont be able to get full up/down/sideways but I guess you can adjust the end deadzones in config if u need to - maybe.

Joystick shopping list

I posted this here but might as well put it here too as there seems to be two joystick threads running.

Saitek X52 Pro driver

Newbie question ( it will take a while before you get anything else from me ).

Just picked up my flight stick, and tried it with the in-game x52 Pro profile.

Big difference, I'm now finally able to steer my space ship.

But I'm wondering. I did not install ANY drivers for it yet, and it functions already.

So my question is: should I install the driver software and/or application to make everything work better?

What extras do I get if I install the software?

I cannot tell for the pro specifically, but on the regular X52 you need to install the Flight control system in order to remove the (Latch) - clutch (tks SU) (side button on the throttle (I) connected to the HAT on the joystick). Unless this is removed, you can't assign that button. Also, to have button 6 (pinkie on the stick) working properly you have to set it to non-programmed in the software.

I suspect that it is very similar on the X52 Pro (same drivers - slightly different XML).

Don't install the drivers on the CD as they're old and a bit broken.

Go onto the Saitek web site and download the latest drivers. Then turn off the "clutch" mode. Once that's done you won't need to touch the Saitek control panel again.

Not Happy X-55 owner

Well finally had time with the new X-55. It is a very nice looking setup. But I think the Software and Drivers are seriously crap. Installation of both crashed and the software reboot caused my system to do a restore. I have yet to try it in any games as I think Windows is having issues as it does read as 2 joysticks. Madcatz support is very lethargic, to put it nicely.

I do have the software working and it reads the stick input.... but the throttle it wont read any button presses or movement. Has anyone actually got one working??

There are a few people on this and the Star Citizen forum who have got X-55s. I've not read any of the reviewers having the software installation causing crashes however every PC is different.

If the button issue you mention on the throttle is referring to when trying to configure the throttle in Elite Dangerous then there is a known issue at present with dual controllers such as the X-55 and the Warthog. Elite Dangerous does not recognize both controllers and hence the buttons on the throttle will overlap with the buttons on the joystick. This is due to be fixed, hopefully in Alpha 3 due mid-March.

Using

http://www.autohotkey.com/board/topic/89279-ujr-universal-joystick-remapper-using-vjoy/

Followed the instruction apart from the bit about quick binding keys (because I didn't need to)

Pocketmoon posted this earlier and it will hide your two joysticks behind one virtual device. Not the easiest to map all the controls into ED as it still sees the physical joystick but it will get the job done if you have the patience to use its instructions for assigning keys in game (involves 2 additional key presses).

Sadly, it won't work work FaceTrackNoIR as that uses a different vjoy than the one on Source Forge. :(
