Are you suggesting that FD are holding something back on the graphics front? I've just been assuming it's a combination of the resolution of the Rift magnified through the lenses and the huge scale of ED (i.e. small objects far away). Plus lots of straight lines (let's be honest the AA in ED has never been great even in 2D). So I don't know if there's anything they can do, but I certainly hope there is. After a week in the Rift, the novelty (of ED in VR) is wearing off and I now find that I'm regularly adjusting the headset in case it improves the clarity of both the text and the graphics (it rarely does).
I've read that you can use the Oculus SDK to unlock the resolution and configure things.

So yeah, I hear you about the novelty wearing off. But when it comes to weighing the lack of resolution to the benefits of full head tracking, I take the head tracking honestly. It's absolutely crucial in a dog fight and I find myself relying less on the minimap and just tracking my target with my head. Also I'm much more aware of my presence in the space and avoiding crashing into any ships in my vicinity.
The resolution does irk me though. Project Cars for instance looks much clearer to me, but of course objects are not as distant as they are in E-D. I'm hoping that over the course of time Frontier will optimize for HMDs and push the resolution to the limits.
Side note, anybody encountering some camera "shake" with the new update? I'm noticing a little shifting going on when in dock.

So I've read through dozens of posts with good advice on the setup of the Rift today. One thing I never saw mentioned that isn't sitting right with me are the stations which seem to be too sparkly and bright, way moreso than with a monitor making the approach to the letter box almost painful. Is this down to a particular setting anyone can think of?
I've never had that kind of problem before. Have you tried hitting up Frontier support? Sounds like a problem that has probably been encountered by at least one other person. Messing with settings doesn't have an effect?
