The general way things go is the more you mind your own business, the more people are inclined to interfere with it.

Something to be said of the perserverance and commitment for sure. I would never have heard of Cmdr Marz if not for this thread. I can't speak to him being a loser or not. He must love mining or have incredible OCD...Even might be autistic for all we know (not saying he is). Nonetheless, he's minding his own business.
Thats a hell of alot of mining - If hes doing deep core mining in VR as I do then theres no wonder. Theres nothing like watching a rock crack in VR! Ive done over 30billion in deep core mining, currently out in the rift filling my carrier up with Opels and LTD's - Miining in VR is so relaxing! Anyway fair play to him, even if he used to glitch ( at some point ) thats some commitment right there.
What is he going to do with all that money, buying the whole galaxy?
Mining is one of these activities that easily can turn into a habit. And from there to an addiction and end in a heavy burn out. Take care...

Not sure why some people in thread make assumption the 1 trillion commander has to be no lifer, single, etc. Persistent, sure. But mining buff has been in effect since 2018. Do the math and don't need crazy grind hours - even fairly reasonable hours played translate to 1 trillion if you just stick with it and be persistent.
TLDR - Mining buff since 2018, at 2.75 billion earned per day would need ~1 year of regular play, and if done over almost 2 years of buffed mining period - need ~1.4 billion earned.
That's roughly 3 hours play/day over 2 years - not exactly crazy hours if he stuck with mining. Persistent as I said, yes. Crazy no lifer - depends what period of time he earned that 1 trillion. If spread out over period mining was buffed, nearly 2 years, it certainly isn't casual hours but it isn't hardcore play hours either.

I doubt anyone here really gives a rat's crap about the guy's personal circumstances, nor his life choices. Many people have actually posted those exact sentiments!

I agree with your overall sentiment but disagree with 'fair maiden' connotation. Being analytical and calculating basic math doesn't imply white knight, fair maiden, or any other scenarios.
You can point out an obvious fact without being invested one way or the other.

I did make a joke about this player being single and unemployed. It was a joke on 2 levels.
One level was on the obvious level, they must have spent a lot of time yada yada yada.
The other level was more of a swipe at the posts that I believe are becoming more frequent, the ‘make the game easier because I have a wife and a job’ stuff.
It should also be noted that I am far too polite to say this to Mr/Mrs Trillionaire’s face and as an abject coward was banking on the fact that raising that amount of credits would keep them far too busy to actually be on the forum.

OP here. Two comments:
1) I have nothing but admiration for Marz's dedication and commitment. As one commenter pointed out - it takes a fascinating amount of single-mindedness to generate ~2.5B credits a day for 3 years straight, and 3B takes most people 10+ hours - even using a ton of SLF/Draconis/Parutis/Robio/Quince type hacks....I would have made different life-choices with my 10 hours a day - but hats off to anyone who has the ability to be this dedicated.
2) My original question was HOW...I think i've figured it out. Inara also shows his achievements. He has hit Tier 5 for "The Traveller", "The Miner" and "The Captain" - which requires 2.5Million LY Jumped (my 1.5 million pales in comparison - and I play a LOT), 2.5Million tons of minerals refined (that's insane), and 2.5Million (I think - based on extrapolation) passengers ferried. (That's also insane). Thus - my hypothesis is that he's played the META for each hack to the EXTREME (i.e. hauled millions of tons of biowaste, carried millions of passengers from Parutis. I'd bet his skimmer kill count is off-the carts (from Draconis - or was it Quince...sigh)
