That’s certainly interesting, could the capitalisation be referring to the star types, with C being Carbon stars, N being Non sequence, and would the W be white dwarf or wolf-rayet? Could it be the “Journey every player has to travel for themselves” that Brookes alluded to during his lore interview?
W would suggest Wolf-Rayet; a White Dwarf would be type D.
Sounds like a route indication

just curious, what if you started from the O or G star, instead of A...?
Then it means I wasted an hour of my life ;-)

you other question/suggestion is a good one...

"The Link is All; no above, no bellow, we are One"

We are "One" - If we are "One" in this context we can ignore it as it's us and try and pick out directional instructions?
We could also ignore "The Link" and "All" possibly too...

"The home of The Link. The Link is All; no above, no bellow, we are One. From the Gate, the Conduit leads One to All. They are Many, but there is One Link. Those who are Not, will Never Be. Down below, the followers of the Link care not of politics, or puny power struggle. The One explores the All from the Conduit. They will open their eyes to Others to trade. But close their fists to Who is Not"

So something like this:
From the G, the C leads to A.
They are M.
Those who are N, N B.
Down below L.
The (One) explores C.
They will open their eyes to O.
But close to W is N

intriguing...

Right idea. :)

But also XD ....

It could be read a few ways, it's all about this line;
"The Link is All; no above, no bellow, we are One"

Does the "path" start with the oddly capitalized A?
or does it start after the semicolon, with the odd capital O?
Or as I suggested, after that entire 'statement' and begin with the "From G"...?

It could be read a few different ways....

Also noteworthy, every single capitalized letter in the entire description, is also a Star Class letter, even D if it's a White Dwarf.... so the path could be even longer and use every single capital letter...

Just saying, XD a few different options to try routing along... see what leads where and how difficult...

Interesting system description.

It's not marked as a PMF in Inara but - see below - they could be wrong. It feels like a PMF to me - the description is a bit weird (i.e. it's more interesting than 90% of PMF descriptions), but it's the sort of weird that the sort of player who starts a Theocracy PMF might write.

Interesting.... I'm not sure I've read PMF system descriptions (or perhaps not noticed them...)

When I registered a PMF there was no option to add a system description, you could request a home system and FD would endeavour to put you in it, I requested Run (as my CMDR name is Logan 5) but got Tabaldak as understandably it was the system they were found in and supposedly destroyed permanently and being Emperor's Dawn it was a bit weird like Mikunn as it was already adopted by players and in game/lore...

Where as significant FD systems seemed to have system descriptions for more information pre-codex.... e.g.

When did they introduce the PMF System descriptions? have any examples? (I did a quick random search from Inara listed PMF's, checked most/all the colonia systems and some random ones in the bubble but couldn't find one)

Hey folks. Nothing major, just wanted to share this, (likely already been noted, but couldn't find it.)

Omphalos Infotech was changed to Unified Infotech some time between April 18 and May 7 2019 - I wanted to figure out exactly when, since I originally thought it was done between Codex beta and release in 2018, which was incorrect.

That's about 6 months after the Codex was released. I know there was speculation at the time, but... any 2023 thoughts on why this was changed?

Just noticed something for the Astrophel and Stella team...

Codex > Hub > Knowledge Base > Corporations > Universal Cartographics
Apparently a merger between "Omphalos Infotech" and another mapping co.

Hey everyone. Long time lurker, first time poster. 👋

As I was reading the codex entry for Universal Cartographics last night, I happened to notice that the text has changed somewhat. Notably, "Omphalos Infotech" has been changed to "Unified Infotech". Has anyone else noticed this? Probably nothing, but then again...

Are the mysterious signals coming out of Shamash not a sirens sound or a whispering; what if this is just a replication of the oracular dreams Shamash sends Gilgamesh (Art Tornquist?) which are of dread, death and danger - but ultimately are supposedly interpreted as protective and positive, as he travels to the Cedar Forest, which bordered a mountain range and mysterious hidden land!

Gilgamesh travelled East of his kingdom Uruk, close to the Zagros / Elam mountains.

Now Uruk is not in game, except for a body in 51 Arietis…is there a metaphorical clue in the prevalence in certain factions and ‘directions’, such as the ‘East India Company’.

Relatively early, but probably after the very early additions where they realised letting people add PMFs to systems which already had descriptions was a mistake.

The Colonia systems are a bit of a special case - Valac is the only one with a description, and that was added retrospectively in early 2020 - but I think the PMF process for the bubble had them by the time of the CEI.

There is apparently the occasional mistake where the system description and the PMF aren't in the same system, presumably because the PMF had to be moved to a reserve system at the last minute but the description had already been entered.

NDT says vagabond planet

anyone else find his choice of words near the end, interesting ?
lol
space madness
lol... and perhaps not space madness as such...

Raxxla the "Rogue Planet" :geek:

Are they in game... apparently so.... along with the comets you can't see...

"Stable orbits are then determined for objects formed from the materials in the disc clumping together. Passing comets and rogue planets are also thrown into the mix, to disrupt the orbits and create fledgling planets and moons."

So is there any record of non-PMF/FD descriptions being added to the game over the years.... if not it could point to The Link being more likely to be a PMF....

Hypothetically such a forest may have been East of Uruk the kingdom of Gilgamesh. Now Uruk is not in game, except for a body in 51 Arietis…is there a metaphorical clue in the prevalence in certain factions and ‘directions’, such as the ‘East India Company’.

Whilst not the same spelling as Art Tornqvist, I noticed another Tornquist from Galnet, forgot to point this out in case you hadn't seen it...

Galactic News: Empire to Retake Facece

04 Feb 3302

A little over two weeks ago, the Facece system was occupied by an independent faction known as the Allied Facece Order. The news sent shockwaves through the Empire, with many asking how such a small organisation could take control of the second most important system in Imperial space. The consternation felt by Imperial citizens was compounded by the Empire's apparent lack of urgency regarding the issue, with many directing their frustration at Chancellor Anders Blaine, who was until recently the system's primary administrator.
Colm Tornquist of the Imperial Herald seemed to encapsulate the views of many when he asked: "What is Chancellor Blaine waiting for? Every day that passes is another day in which the people of Facece labour under the dictatorial rule of the Allied Facece Order. Action must be taken!" Almost as soon as this complaint was aired, Clearly Chancellor Blaine announced plans to retake the Facece system:
"I apologise for what some have perceived as a lack of alacrity. I know the Imperial people are eager to see these opportunists removed from Imperial space, but it was essential that we plan our operation carefully to minimise the danger to the people of Facece. Now the planning is over, and order will soon be restored. I implore the people of Facece to remain calm. And to the Allied Facece Order I say this: your days are numbered."

So is there any record of non-PMF/FD descriptions being added to the game over the years.... if not it could point to The Link being more likely to be a PMF....
Tricky, since the descriptions aren't sent to the journal at all, so there's no real way to tell how long one has been there for, or if it has ever been edited. (Some clearly have been edited, as there's a first paragraph talking about the system, then a second paragraph of PMF description appended)

System descriptions (still!) needing a client patch to update means that they probably didn't use them as often as they might have, too.

Yes - I’ve been here previously, this I believe is a naming relationship where FD are referring us to the Lost Realms of Robert Holdstock via the Codex, eg not only do you have the reference of Cora / Kore / Persephone aka the path between Demeter and Persephone - which does lead us to the Lost Realms, but simplistically this reference of Art could link to Colm again does draw our attention to these Lost Realms.

For me there is a great deal of information in game that does point to us the Lost Realms zone, but I find the literary references to Milton’s Pendant World somewhat contradictory; unless the Codex is attempting to replicate a much larger map, that incorporates those upper Zones of Chaos and the Empyrean which I’ve identified, where ultimately Miltons Pendant World ought to sit, directly above the deity of Chaos and below the brow of heaven.

The references to Gilgamesh I believe have a relation, because of the works of Robert Holdstock and the Rune of Thorn, the thorny vine / thorn branch…

In game such references may exist to the story of Gilgamesh, which are spacially much higher up, technically within the zones of chaos and touching the hypothetical zone of the Empyrean!

Does the story of Gilgamesh, which is linked to Shamash, help point to Raxxla?

Cool articles :) Brookes explained something similar in his interview with DJ (about modelling systems by starting with a dust cloud and ageing them up).

Personally I'd suspect that the "passing comets and rogue planets" are mathematically modelled into the data, rather than physically modelled into the game.

I suspect that's why there's the entry in the planet bodies list for Rogue Planets but no-one's found one. Necessary for Stellar Forge, not actually part of the game.

That might also explain why there are comets in there and they've never had physical representation in-game, it might simply be an artefact of the Stellar Forge process we were never meant to see. If there hadn't been the strange oddities with some things ending up orbiting comets - and players using the Journal files to make out-of-game-plugin systems - then we'd never know they were there. :)

I agree, comets are obviously programmed into the game, and I would presume Rogue planets too, but I believe many Cmdrs probably presumed said rogues would exist on their own, eg instances without a star, whereas I suspect they do exist in game but either they do so as you identify, as an artefact or unfinished aspect of the forge, or / and they exist as stable points in a system as ‘captured’ bodies, existing on the perimeter of systems?

Although there was that comment by Brookes that rogues not needing a star?

We have a great deal of supposition about the game, because FD seriously don’t want us looking at how it works, presumably I suspect there is a great deal more going on behind the curtains, but ultimately I feel that is directly linked to how FD originally wanted the game to work pre-launch.

I suspect rather a lot of content was actually dropped from the game, during a pre-crunch launch phase, some parts may have been coded in error, or applied in haste, resulting in various anomalous areas in game, I don’t hold with the older concept the FD had plans for future fixes / development, one might presume that to be PR spin.

If such assets existed in game not as an aspect of the forge, but intended I would advocate FD would at the first instance want to build and inject these graphical elements… so my suspicion is it’s unintentional, and likely more an example of areas of the game that was never fully developed.

As example: there is code in game which details many modules we have never utilised in game for over 10 years… evidence of development concepts they built and dropped.

Its as possible rogue planets do exist, but they are simply data, to keep the cosmos together, but I think they ‘wanted’ to build on them but they never got around to it and it’s been brushed under the carpet,

How are you finding these systems, I’m finding it damn impossible to see any Carbon stars. Is there a 3rd party tool your using to help?
