Yes, those missions are quite time consuming, there is a lot of moving around and scanning. You get bits of lore in your mailbox throughout the progress, makes the process a bit less boring.
ok thanks...
typically takes about 2 to 3 days if done quick. If you take your time almost a full week.
... And well, unfortunately it took me 1 day to finally realize i had gone to the completely WRONG site lol ./facepalm
i was at the 'Guardian Site', for weapon blueprints , since that was the only type i had ever visited before in my 1 year+ of playing Elite Dangerous game.
( ugh no wonder my Transations/Missions tab for Ram Tah wasn't updating , nor getting any incoming mails, after scanning like Obelisks like 50 times )

Now, after realizing my blunder, i found this video guide to what i believe is the correct type of 'Ancient' site? -->
Source: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FtnywECC8Xw

( or is that out-dated? )

*btw, feel free to PM me , since even though i'm doing these old/lore missions in the name/pursuit of RAXXLA search, it's still sorta borderline off-topic-ish and i don't want to waste forum space here in this very important thread. o7

There are some massive ruins out there with literally maybe 100 obelisks to scan. They have some bits of history when you scan them - yes, it's all rather tedious.

There are maps of those sites online. See https://ruins.canonn.tech/ for instance. Canonn did fantastic job cataloguing all of this stuff.

So I did the starting point follow my nav screen instead of the galmap and it keeps bringing me back to LTT 16456 I did this in four corners of the bubble and each time back to LTT 16456. What's special about this system?

Posting this clue here :

Brown dwarfs fuse deuterium instead of hydrogen unlike normal stars. Consequently, they're much cooler and emit much less light and are considered to be "failed stars". Had Jupiter been 13x more massive, it would have been a brown dwarf

In other words, that's not a moon or gas giant in the picture - it's a brown dwarf. We may be looking for a binary system at the very least.

It could also explain why people keep missing the station. They arrive at the main star and ignore the secondary - specially if it's a brown dwarf.

I’ve always said this, brown dwarfs are gas giants. There probably is some cross over here with FD very early concept for exploration where such ‘cool’ stars were classified as ‘dark systems’ which likewise were supposed to hold all the various ‘mysteries’. Even though it was never implemented M Brookes referenced dark systems in Elite Legacy.

So yes technically a binary brown dwarf in my opinion is a gas gas giant. But the importance is the existence of 8 moons.

Yeah I agree with that.

I don't think science would agree. Brown dwarfs are much more massive than the largest gas giants, although they have less mass than regular stars. Calling a brown dwarf a gas giant is a real stretch and nothing in the game (and in RL) indicates that FDev consideres them the same.

This is not the case for sub-brown dwarfs, however (i.e. those below the 13 Jupiter masses cutoff); WISE 0855-0714 is a good example.

Check out the news about Lantern Light. Has anyone tried to dock there? It's an architect made station, but it makes you wonder if one could be built so close to a stellar object is there another that has been that way for some time?

EDIT: Ok, I just saw a video of it, lol. Tin foil back to its drawer.

Should also take into consideration that the Darkwheel And who knows what else could be hiding in the same instance as another station just say 1000km away from the main object and sensors wont pick it up until your a couple hundred km near the stuff. Some asteroid belts work this way its not just a single cluster by itself good example of this would be sols asteroid belt. It's a pain in the butt to find but can be tracked down using the orrery view and the belt disc around the sun that is highlighted yellow. The same can be done around soontill that has a unique belt ring around it.

It's also a good way to poke at a planet that may have a hidden ring you didn't know about that wont show up on the 2D side view.

I have ran a script to check for systems with 8 moons around a brown dwarf 75ly radius about Sol and no systems exist. I can raise the radius but it takes forever and eventually i get 429 too many requests. Also, I am looking for children bodies so it should include moons are just bodies orbiting it if its a main/seconday star etc. Any suggestions for systems to center the radius on next?

There's a nebula literally called Keyhole Nebula, inside the Carina Nebula.
umm speaking of "keys" Zimous and @Reyedog and everyone.... Did i just stumble upon something ( re: 'ancient key' ) potentially RAXXLA related or maybe helpful here clue-wise or whatever???? ( see below )

Basically, as i mentioned earlier , i had gone to the wrong "guardian site" ( i went to only type i had ever visited before , the normal weapon-blueprints version ) . So, while i was there and had my fleet-carrier with me ( nearby ) i decided to just spend a couple hours destroying 'Sentinal drones' and farming various guardian materials & such.
i ended up scanning an 'obelisk' i somehow hadn't scanned before ( ironcally, the BETA version ) for my ingame Codex blue confirmed. Once i got that scan, i decided to head back to my ship and back to my FC so i wouldn't risk dying aka losing the Pilots Federation discovery credit on Transactions tab panel-1 .

So anyways, i'm a few jumps away from my FC and on the way back i happen to jump into a system i never been to before, so of course i'm always doing 'D-Scanner' after each jump just because it's a habit by now , but this time since i saw a bunch of sorta close "Unexplored" on Nav panel-1 , i decided to go into FSS mode...
Well, within that FSS mode i saw this like circle ' ! ' type icon i never noticed before, on the orbital line.
Eventually, as i FSS'd , it turned into something called 'Guardian BEACON' !!

Of course i hovered over it within FSS to listen to the spectral/radio signal for it , but it didn't really sound like anything a newb like me could figure out lol , so i just popped out of FSS and hurried toward the location ( in space ) to see what the heck this was all about. When i arrived/dropped into instance, oh my gosh it was such a truly INCREDIBLE sight to see...
neestar25guardbeacon - Copy.jpg

...And before, as i first approached this massive space structure, i was able to /target ( white square on radar ) each separate 'beacon' , which reminded me of the same type of sequence i had literally just done on ground site ( for weapon blueprint ) , in how you have to shoot "damage" AT the glowy towers/orbs to make them powered/activated. --- Afterwards i also got an immediate ingame MAIL from RamTah or at least it mentions his name , so i'm gonna goto the system coords it tells me ASAP!
And i was so excited & nervous ( lol ) that my screenshots didn't come out that great sorry. But anyways, is this Ancient Key i looted afterwards worth cargo'ing around same as how sometimes we've tried taking 'Trinket of Hidden Fortune' around?

Also, if FDev can create such a truly EPIC & mysterious space sequence as this Guardian Beacon situation was ( for me at least, as relative 1-year newb ) then gosh i really really hope whatever RAXXLA ( and/or Dark Wheel ) turns out to be must be something equally as awesome to discover! 💫

Lave or Leesti please, or around anything interesting in Alliance Space

If FD ties in Raxxla or the TDW with the next Thargoid or Guardian story line then yes, we can expect something awesome. But if it's been left there untouched since it was created a decade ago then don't expect too much.

Nothing within 75ly of Lave. I need an example to try it on though just in case its just not working code wise. Anyone know a system that has a brown dwarf with 8 moons/bodies orbiting it?

So the inside has a pirate icon. The outside does not. Interesting.

The more I am thinking about it. I wonder if the inside of a pirate station would just have the darkwheel pirate icons.

Guardian Beacons are pretty cool, and you need the key at some Ancient Data Terminals to unlock vessel blueprints for some of the Guardian fighters, so keep them handy.
