So was wondering what the Omphalos Rift might be and just so it happens I guess someone stuck this flyer under my windshield wiper last time i was docked... not sure how much truth there is to it though.

Yeah maybe, but then why are we still looking for it as recently as 2009 and will we find the orbital teapot?

[Edit: If the speed of light 'C' is a constant, why would we expect to see perturbations in 'C' due to aether?]

Prior to Michelson/Morley experiment it was logical to believe that the speed of light would vary depending on the direction of movement relative to the aether. The experiment showed no such variation, and as technology and techniques improve measurement accuracy over time it has been repeated (as are measurements in other aspects of physics, in case some new effect might be found). No variation in C has been detected, so speed of light is constant whatever you do; therefore aether doesn’t exist & that fact led Einstein directly to postulating his theory of Relativity.

Don’t know about the teapot, but we might find the Tesla. 😉

Dog had another seizure this morning- that’s 3 Tuesday mornings in a row! at 05:00, 03:00 & 05:30. What the heck is going on? Still waiting to hear results from last Friday’s blood taking.

Hi, Commander. The game just takes a blurred "Screenshot" of your view, when entering the station service. You just landed on the landing pad so that's what you see. When you enter the hangar, the background changes accordingly. As for the numbers: I saw them on other systems too. Always those 032 04. Seems to be a common background for the federation.

I’ve noticed the facial tattoos in the past, and the different flags hanging in the background, but hadn’t spotted those numbers. Has anyone checked to see if they might be coordinates? Only two so a long axis!

"The honey is what falls from the air, especially at the risings of the stars, and when the rainbow descends.."
- Aristotle

"This substance is engendered from the air, mostly at the rising of the constellations, and more especially when Sirius is shining, never, however before the rising of the Vergiliae... Whether it is that this liquid is the sweat of the heavens, or whether a saliva emanating from the stars..."
- Pliny the Elder

Nevertheless some, when they have a mind to make the mead of a rougher taste, mingle a sextarius of water with three quarters of a pound of honey, and after they have, according to this proportion, filled a stone bottle, and plaistered it, they suffer it to be forty days in the sun, during the rising of the Dog-star"
- Columella

And that's why Patterson Enterprise in Sirius system has a bar called Hyperborea.

New to the Raxxla hunt, tried getting caught up as best as I could , but can’t comb thru all 728 pages of this discussion...

So just wondering where the hunt is atmost prominent lead right now...

my thoughts , I think first line is probably most important from codex , jewel on the brow..

“To the jewel that burns on the brow of the mother of galaxies! To the whisperer in witchspace, the siren of the deepest void! The parent's grief, the lover's woe, and the yearning of our vagabond hearts. To Raxxla!”

noticed some people reading into the other stuff , kinda disagree with that train of thought ,

witchspace is slang for hyperspace , So idk how it would be something we could access from within hyperspace, just felt like a poetic line to me,

Siren of the deepest void could be something , but also took the deepest void as all space in general , another poetic metaphor for Raxxla

and parents grief , lovers woe , I took as the grief and woe of parents and loved ones to those vagabond hearts that are consumed by the hunt for Raxxla , so another poetic line ,

My trip to Tionisla revealed some tourist beacon dealio that had a quote “the vain mother (Cassiopeia) rides a giraffe (Camelopardalis) That remembers her daughters (Andromena) rescuer (Perseus)

that so far seemed like the most prominent clue in my searchings, assuming Dark Wheel coordinates, just a matter of which part of those constellations they want you to look at...

Caseopia doesn’t really seem to have a jewel on her brow....

only other thing I saw was someone referencing a Bindu which I thought was a genius train of thought, quite litterally a jewel on the brow , so I searched Hindu goddesses that seemed like they’d be the Mother of Galaxies , only one that pinged was “Durga” and happens to be a system in the bubble just haven’t been there yet to investigate

oh and also some research led me to Gaia mother of all, and another name for Gaia is Terra , there is a system called Terra Mater that is permit locked seemed interesting too...

so tldr maybe Durga or Terra Mater?

The tourist beacon is from a previous scavenger hunt and has nothing to do with Raxxla. As for the other 728 pages, well you’re now at the same point we are...

Welcome to the hunt Commander!

That “giraffe” tourist beacon is left over from the Formidine Rift Mystery quest and can be safely ignored. See link in my signature for a spreadsheet of UCB and LP, which may prove useful in your quest, it’s a personal journey! Tourist Beacon list is here https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1eu30UyjpQrWexAglwD1Ax_GaDz4d7l8KD76kSzX4DEk/htmlview#gid=0

The first page of this thread lists all known facts related to Raxxla, plus a link to a useful summary document which you really should read. Other than that this thread currently contains 700+ pages of hopeful hypotheses, strange speculation and mixed mythology references, with a few smatterings of in-game and RL fact, that may or may not be relevant, plus places & ideas that have been checked out, and a few fairly obvious trolling attempts. Dip into them a couple of pages at a time - they might spark in you a new idea, or you might spot something that the rest of us have missed. But many ideas have already been explored, so spend some time reading to avoid wasting your time.

Many of us believe the codex entries for Dark Wheel and Raxxla contain clues (plus some misdirection). Have fun exploring your own hypotheses!

And welcome to the Raxxla Institute for the Hopelessly Insane, created for those pilots suffering from terminal space madness. We welcome all serious cases, especially if they’re cases of Lavian Brandy! đŸ€Ș

Welcome to the Raxxla Fernweh hunt.

Our most prominent lead since you asked..is now you...a new person with fresh 'eyes to see' maybe, who knows? Don't assume anybody has done anything before even if it looks like they have, check it for yourself to be sure.

Been thinking - the key that is also a door...a musical key that opens a 'door'? Anybody know what key the D-scanner booms in? We have the facility to make certain keys but where is the darn door? (D-scanner activates TPs so it is possible)

Small tinfoil hat (but to me nowhere near as large as usual) - an abandoned space station, probably an old Corilosis - never understood this reference or how it fits in. However. What if and its a big IF:

1st Space Station was Meir around Earth.
2nd Space Station was ISS around Earth.

1st image of Coriolis that inspired everything - 2001 A Space Odessy around Jupiter/Europa. Edit. Around Mars, the oblong black shapes were around Jupiter/Europa. In game the 1st alien artefact was found on Mars ( a few cm across) so why not have a SS there to monitor it and why not keep it running low power to keep it quiet before the artefact was announced....

What if the abandoned SS was in Sol as an homage to 2001, would be an early one that was outmoded and abandoned. One of the few systems where everything is already mapped so no need to use the FSS at all, more likely to miss is maybe?

More ramblings will follow in 2020

the 1st post doesn't mention that it was mentioned by an fdev employee in a livestream that "you're looking in the right place" when responding to another live streamer searching for raxxla while in an asteroid field.

That's more of a valid clue than anything connecting the dark wheel to raxxla other than the dark wheel doesn't know where raxxla is (which is part of the reason the dark wheel was founded and exists ...since they're treasure hunters searching for it)

31m 30s in if it doesn't auto starts at the location. Use the link instead of clicking on the picture should take you to the 31m 30s mark.

Context is important and its probably a joke imo. Sounds like bantering to me. But who knows :p

Quite a lot of people have scoured Sol and not turned up anything (myself included). I still wonder about the asteroid belt but haven't got brave enough to go hunting through it ..

Sol has 2 locked bodies - the Moon, and Triton - they being 2 of the 4 permit locked bodies in the game (the others being Lave 2 and Diso 5c) - reportedly the moon was PL because FD were going to handcraft it (rumour?) . Triton though? whats that all about? Triton belongs to Mother Gaia faction according to the wiki (which is often unreliable..)

The SS in 2001 was much more like an Orbis station with the large rings for accommodation. Coriolis stations are cube-octohedra and look nothing like the 2001 station. Orbis stations are the oldest in the game though, and most likely a candidate for TDW's station, and are in line with the image on TDW codex page.

To be clear The Dark Wheel are not synonymous with Raxxla, and according to the lore they do not know where Raxxla is - finding TDW may help provide further information that they hold (as hinted in TDW codex entry - at least thats the hope..), which is why they get lumped into these discussions.

I tried finding the constellation “Corona Borealis “ but could only find the other Corona ,

Paraphrasing and might be misremembering but the myth behind Borealis talked about Ariadne and the Minotaur and Labrintyh , I thought that was intriguing because in a way we are all wandering the labyrinth of space...

But the constellation is a “crown” and “Gemma” is the brightest star in that , Gemma being Latin for gem/jewel..

pulls tinfoil blanket tighter

Welcome to the Raxxla Fernweh hunt.

...

1st Space Station was Meir around Earth.
2nd Space Station was ISS around Earth.

Actually:

Skylab, launched by the USA in 1973 was the first second (possibly 3rd as there was a 2nd Salyut launched around the same time). https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Skylab
Mir was third second, launched in 1986. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mir
ISS was fourth third. Launched in 1998. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/International_Space_Station

I was wrong, Salyut 1 was first. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Salyut_1

Also worth mentioning that the Chinese had a space station too, launched in 2011. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tiangong-1
