Can confirm I didnt find it in the most obviously named system 'HIP 1984' :) worth a try though.

However, on the way went though Struve's Lost Sector / Nebula, that one grabbed my attention I can tell you. Reading about it bears some similarities to some versions or guesses at Raxxla, not sure its ever been scientifically explained or whether it was just bad astronomy in the 1st place. But Lost Sector, Im on the way back there for a look around....I was intending to be back in the bubble 4 weeks ago but keep getting distracted.

Based specifically on the section it's in and the way people are responding to it I would say it's fiction. And realistically, backstory lore in a video game is fiction even if it's canonical

Yeah it refers to an old fan base in Eastern Europe, I thought it was Russian but they say Finland magazine so maybe wider.

They wrote some stories, fan fiction, on message boards or that made it into magazines or fanzines and got confused with canonical lore, bits of it all over this thread for one.

The last bit (The P.S. and some later posts) about a version of Raxxla being in some games I dont have enough info about. Ive heard that it was all purely fan fiction / hoax that they 'found' Raxxla in game but Ive also heard that they hacked the game and wrote it in for the purpose of the story / hoax and even that a version with the hack was widely shared in certain fan circles and therefore played by a lot of people who then repeated it as fact either knowing it to be a hacked version with a hacker placed Raxxla or unknowingly believing it was an original version and it was in there. (Eastern Europe / Russia / Finland?) I dont know how much if any of this paragraph is true, I havent seen the original magazines or message boards where it happened and even then would need translating. I havent seen any evidence or screenshots or anything from anyone who posted it originally, all I have is verbal anecdotes and long lost tales and 'I heard this...'.

Eastern Europe is only significant because at the time we had The Cold War and relations and communications between East & West were very limited, meaning especially in USSR and satellites fans could be self-contained in their own groups and develop their own lore within it and maybe without access to outside 'proper' lore depending on censorship. So a lot of the info came out afterwards and is not from source.

Either way its all just fan fiction, we know Raxxla hasnt been in any published authorised versions of the game. It wasnt even mentioned in E2 & E3 iirc, not even in lore.

if it's boring, let's discuss the theory that there are hidden missions at certain stations, with the help of which the case may move further)
Or we will discuss a toast)) I now think that the true polar star is the pearl in the crown, but what can be a whisper, I don’t know ((

I may have been abducted,
and taken to some dimly lit station for interrogation,
and some enthusiastic re-education,
by a group of clandestine individuals,
about some dim memory I have of Operation Less Than Three...

However I escaped in a suicide-winder left hot in the dock, I've used every ounce of mental resource I possessed and I refused to succumb to their veiled threats and innuendos and after a long stint in recovery (and lots of Lavian Brandy) I'm back in the black cmdrs.

Unfortunately, I still can't find that damn startport, nor have they 'invited' me for a more civilized chat.

I live in hope! ;)

I like the hypothesis that there are hidden missions, but where are they and how can they be unlocked? Until someone has some evidence to support it then it’s only a hypothesis, not a theory. 🙂

I’m not convinced by the polar star hypothesis. To me it’s far more likely that it’s Sol (there’s a suggestive Galnet
post), or Alpha Centauri, or Gemma (Alphekka), or V886 Centauri (“the diamond star”-check it out on Wikipedia, been used for SciFi plots that DB may have been aware of).

However in English “whisperer” can have two meanings- either someone who speaks very quietly in a whisper, or a very knowledgeable/capable person in a particular field (e.g. “horse whisperer”). So for me the second line of the toast that goes “To the whisperer in witch-space, the siren of the deepest void!” is highly suggestive of Sirius, since Sirius Inc are specialists in fsd (and, according to some in-game lore suggestions, who have undertaken dirty ops to hide their drive failures), and the siren of the deepest void is Lucifer, the planet by Sirius B and the fallen angel who whispered to Eve in the Garden of Eden and who was cast into the deepest void according to Milton’s Paradise Lost.

It’s the third line that I can’t solve! Not getting anywhere with interpretations via mythology. My previous Paradise Lost hypothesis (search this thread) suggested Alpha Centauri’s Eden.The “parent’s grief” is singular (only one parent), but FD are noted for frequently poor grammar so not a strong piece of evidence, however my Paradise Lost hypothesis fitted all three lines beautifully, but I didn’t find any trace of a stealth station at Eden (may only be instanced once you have the invitation) or Raxxla. sigh. 😢

To me the first three lines are directions, while the last “to Raxxla” is just a poetic ending. In a toast it’s likely that all three objects (one per line) are visible (& possibly equally spaced) from the place where the toast is said, so I think TDW stealth station. Alternatively it’s a quest guide, each line providing the next journey to take in the quest.

Oh I'm pretty sure what that one is.... and yes mythology... more than happy to share if you're interested :)

On the “To the whisperer in witch-space, the siren of the deepest void!” - I think it's the knowledgeable version too, but possibly Thargoids as they can pull you out of witch-space so obviously more knowledgeable than humans.

I also think Sirius is in there but for another reason...

In Book XI of the Odyssey, Odysseus makes a trip to the underworld to seek the advice of the dead prophet Tiresias. In the underworld, he encounters many spirits, including that of his mother, Anticlea. Initially, he rebuffs her since he is waiting for the prophet to approach.

After speaking with Tiresias, however, Odysseus allows his mother to come near and lets her speak. She asks him why he is in the underworld while alive, and he tells her about his various troubles and failed attempts to get home. Then he asks her how she died and inquires about his family at home. She tells him that she died of grief, longing for him while he was at war.

Dictionary definition of “woe”: noun, big problems or troubles:

  • “The country has been beset by economic woes for the past decade.”
  • “Unusually poor harvests have added to the country's woes.”

If Odysseus is the subject of this part of the toast then Penelope would be the lover; with respect to her problems (in addition to her husband’s non-return) it would point to the problem of the suitors and her attempts to avoiding marriage whilst the great wealth of Odysseus is being consumed. Further to this the suitors plotted to kill Odysseus should he return and also his son Telemachus on his return from searching for his father during his trip to Pylos and Sparta which Penelope feared and discusses with Eurymachus.
