Felicity said in the Codex that TDW imitators die out quietly (or was it quickly?); the faction in SD is still in existence after some four years, therefore they are the real dark wheel, however as the mysterious woman said in Premonition TDW has wheels within wheels & she implied SD is the “outer rim” operating as a distraction (i.e. an obfuscation).

I emphasise her turn of phrase because it is clearly a link to the original TDW SD missions, and since Drew Wagar said categorically he didn’t know anything about Raxxla it seems to suggest that FD asked him to put this part of the storyline into Premonition. It may be that FD decided those missions were originally too simple as clues to Raxxla & disabled them temporarily (I believe we’ve had FD confirmation that they are still in-game) while they made the puzzle more complex; perhaps they are somehow chained with another puzzle which we haven’t found yet. Except they seem to have overdone it; the fact that nobody has been able to find those missions recently makes me think they are somehow further obfuscated.

Don’t ask me for the source of the FD statement about them still being in game; I despair of the history that seems to have been lost in the move to the new forum....to quote Sgt Schultz when I search for previous notable posts .. I can find nuthink, NUTHINK!!!

I concur. I believe (and this has been discussed previously and there is a link on page 1 of this thread) what happened was there was an error during an update and the old missions weren't reimplemented.

I always took this as 'these missions were too obvious so they got dropped' ... although as they formed part of backers content they may well be reintroduced at another time....now I feel this could well be connected to the real dark wheel base.

Find that and we may find the old missions...or something like it. As the codex alludes it..at least thats my interpretation but without solid evidence it may well not....best find the wheel...

I personally suspect that we need to pass some sort of test to get a TDW response. However, I'm certain that we've piqued their interest.

Edit:
The going theory is that all current TDW members are decendents of members. The main requirement being born into TDW. However, If we treat the Training Mission where you wake up to being rescued in a dead Sidewinder as being the only thing we remember about our past then things get interesting.

AndyJ gave an excellent account of the Founder/Elite missions that vanished here: https://forums.frontier.co.uk/threads/the-quest-to-find-raxxla.168253/page-29#post-5869706

PS: Found the above post in my backup of this thread prior to the upgrade. Unfortunately many links seems broken, including those in AndyJ's post, but I'll do my best to at least fix the OP.

Ah, yes, AndyJ rings a bell, and I’m sure he got one of the devs to check and we got their response “should still be in game” then it all went quiet, which started me thinking they added something to make it harder.

on the subject of tests, how many people came across an NPC called 'Charney Sundown' when they were just getting started?

To paraphrase the Codex, "Conversely, some members are believed to go to great lengths to prevent their children from ever becoming involved, since the groups secrets are dangerous." Take that knowledge with our intro mission, add the fact that the drug Hexedit has been used as a way to effectively wipe memories in the past, and you get an interesting picture of who our rescuer might actually be... It's quite the generous act to rescue a ship and recruit the pilot until they can handle themselves.

Also, if we treat the Codex as an in-lore source of knowledge for pilots to view; why mention TDW or Raxxla if you're trying to hide it? Is it a red herring, recruitment tool, or have we somehow 'earned it'? Questions, questions...

After a few hours and a lot of raxxla videos I've come to ask myself following question: "Why would FDev want us to find Raxxla and not leave it a Myth?" Which I am really having a hard time think of how it would progress the Elite gameplay I mean why should we find the Gateway to another universe if we haven't even discovered 1% of the milky way? Plus there are so many permit locked Systems that FDev reserved for future updates wouldn't finding the gateway to another universe destroy the sense of having those permit locked system if we just move to the next universe?
What do you guys think?

There is absolutely no evidence that Raxxla will provide/have/lead to a gateway to another universe. That was a line from (I think) the original Elite’s novella & I suspect that is no longer canon lore. Even then Raxxla was a myth in that novella, plenty of tall tales will have sprung up around it. FD have said on a couple of occasions that there is only one universe in ED.

It may be a moon, an alien generation ship (Thargoids and Guardians are both reputed to have had planet-sized ships), a wormhole to a different part of this universe, or even a derelict Anaconda.
The fun is in the mystery and the hunt; the finding will be disappointing.

What weeds the theory out? What are you refering too? I thought the theory was the movies that came with the game that are in a sub folder that used to be the openings. Do we know where those stations are yet? That would help invalidate it.

I agree about this. Just because they changed the menu screen doesn't mean the old menu screen is any less potentially raxxla/TDW connected.

Also, just putting out ideas since I don't have as many years researching as most of you. Has anyone acquired a permit to witch's reach? Could this location be related? I feel the name might imply something. Possibly this was where they reached during a misjump through witch space, hence the clever name. Just a thought.
