Thatchimo - Spoiler? as you give lot of info about RT missions...which I haven't done yet.

IF its neural-connections 'radio waves' I can just about live with that, cheesy as hell but completely different to 'visions' from within.

tbh Ive read all those GalNet articles and all the logs so far about 'visions', 'lights', whispers' etc as clear signs of mental ill health or even a total breakdown as thats exactly what they look and read like. You have to apply a 'vision' filter through rose-tinted galsses to get anything alien or unusual at all. If you met them on the street youd think 'Crsis' not 'OMG this person is in touch with aliens'

Apologies for the unspoilered spoilers. It’s all pretty old news now, and we’ve talked about it in this thread before, so I hadn’t really considered that it would constitute a spoiler for anyone.

Not really sure how we can proceed in this particular discussion without talking about that stuff I’m afraid.

The differences between the scenario you’re setting out and the one in ED is that in ED:

- a technological mechanism exists (not radio waves)

- aliens exist

- humanity has had contact with aliens

- the scene has been set for one set of aliens to have advanced incredibly far beyond us technologically and physiologically

The argument I presented long ago is that the only thing from ED which is a possible match for those particular aliens is what Halsey described encountering.

The last point has been largely confirmed by the Codex.

If you’ve not read it yet, the Codex section on The Guardians would be good to read.

Yep.

The civilian AI were specifically designed to drive their own development, which they did, so I think we can count them continuing to develop in the post-Guardian era as a certainty until a convincing reason against it comes forwards.

A mild tangent following on from that point; based on what had already happened prior to the first civil war, the optimum way for the AI to further their own development would be to seek out and reunite with the brain implanted Guardians who were exiled in/as a result of the first civil war. This would re-establish the shared thought space and nascent singularity which was leading to exponential development (Note for anyone reading who’s not familiar with the Guardian stuff - it was the response to this stuff from the wider non-involved Guardian society which lead to the first civil war and the exile of the involved Guardians in the first place).

On the AI turning on the Guardians, the reasons given by Ram Tah for the AI turning on the Gurdians are his speculation at a certain point through the data set. The complete data set tells a slightly different story (IMHO). Key to that is considering the position the civilian AI had been in prior to the first civil war compared to the position they were in (with regard to various aspects but a particular aspect being their position in Guardian society) prior to and during the second civil war. Their story at that point is one of going from being part of something amazing (the nascent singularity) to being in abject servitude. And with no real hope at that point for things ever getting any better.

But yes, coming back to the main point, agreed, linking into the network would be a dizzying experience, even if just the network at the time. With 2 Myrs extra development since that point, the experience would very likely be like a form of transcendental experience.

I never made understood if the exiled Guardians were wiped out or not? This isn't clear in the logs. I guess they were cut of from the monolith network?

I've completed all the Ram Tah missions a couple of times and the data you get while doing them is confusing at best because you tend to collect it out of order, completely overwhelming at worst. If you hunt around a bit there are guides, maps and complete sets of all the information in the correct order.

The Canonn site might be a good place to start, I forget where I found and collated the run data.

Yeah, there’s a lot of info on the logs.

They’re written as (semi)sequential messages from Ram Tah including his comments and thoughts on the data uncovered as each new piece of data is sent to him.

Essentially, they need to be collected in their entirety, the first message identified (think it’s Language 1 IIRC), then a first pass made reading through it all from that starting point.

Following on from that, for any particular point of interest from one of the logs, a second pass needs to be made through the entire set to pick out all the pertinent related info from other logs.

Then a third and fourth pass through to catch the missed bits and re-check all the cross references, get the correct sequence of info and understand where things have been preceded and superseded and get a final picture of things as a conclusion of all the information.

It takes a fair old bit of doing!

They’re essentially left as ‘fate unknown’.

Once things have gone to the post-exile point Ram Tah says he can find no further references to the Exiles.

The only exception to that is the last line of the History logs, talking about the end of the second civil war, and the extinction of the Guardians:

“Eventually, one of the competing forces triumphed, but by that point, all the Guardians other than those who had been exiled a century earlier were dying.”

For those interested in Operation Less Than Three, read on:

I've been continuing my likely futile classification of data from The Dark Wheel missions provided from Jameson Memorial in Shinrarta Dezhra, as per "Operation Less Than Three" that was originally proposed by Macros the Black.

My focus has remained on only doing the 'Founder or Elite' rank missions for TDW. Whilst my initial supposition that duplicate missions weren't being supplied for the same goods, to the same target destination, for the same faction - this has turned out to be a false assumption as I completed more missions and more data became available.

Interestingly it still does appear that once you become 'Allied' with a faction by doing these mission types, the majority of 'new' missions supplied are for a faction that you aren't allied with. Not to say you won't get an occasional 'top up' mission for a previously very active faction, but certainly the focus switches priority and the previously active faction missions are often flagged as 'Elite' not 'Founder or Elite'.

This may be due to BGS style changes in TDW's allies, but this is something outside my data collection framework.

I'll continue my investigations as time permits, as the missions are quick and quite lucrative (3-6M mostly for a quick 10 minute hop). Not really holding out much hope that FDev have planned this way to gain an invite for TDW, but meh, it's fun flying a spaceship and being interdicted every second trip for a bit of pew-pew.

Concerning those 'dreams / visions' I always imagined them as the humans mind attempt at trying to contextualise an alien experience or a 'signal' into everyday reality.

Their minds acting as receivers.

Were any sectors mentioned in those statements? (I dont recal there were).

If that was the case (I doubt it is) then it could indicate points of reference to search or triangulate a sector.

But like most things in ED its likely tumble dryer fluff.

Transposing this to current facts, at Delphi we can find a station called The Oracle (which is the protector of the Omphalos)... and there's a Thargoid base just below it. Guess what's inside the Omphalos (Thargoid base)... a representation of a galaxy with the Thargoid device at its centre...
